I couldn’t find any reviews on this grip so I thought I’d make one myself!
**Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Mumba in any way (proof of purchase included). I do not mean to rag on Satisfye and Skull & Co here, it is my own experience only!**
**Also: obligatory “sorry for my english”.**
**Preface** (no need to read it, it’s just a mini rant/rambling):
I used various Nintendo Switch grips extensively. I had the Satisfiye grip initially which I bought from a friend, but then I sold that Switch with the grip to get the Switch V2. I got then a Skull and Co Grip which became really loose on my Switch so I had to toss it. Finally I bought the Nintendo Switch OLED and wanted to buy a Satisfiye grip for it, only to notice to my horror that **the shipping cost to the EU is $35 for a $44.99 grip!!** I reached out to Satisfye support, but they told me that they aren’t interested in cheaper shipping, so they obviously don’t want money from eurobros.
Finally I bought the Skull and Co Grip updated for the Switch OLED, but it felt very loose on my Switch and I also *to my chagrin* lost the cap fastening it to the console. Reached out so support, they weren’t too helpful and basically told me I’m shit outta luck, better buy a second one. …so I tossed it.

**===** **Price ===**
I paid $21.99 for the Mumba Blade which is a very good price in my opinion. (Satisfye Zengrip PRO costs $44.99 and Skull & Co GripCase costs $22.99)
**===** **Shipping** **===**
I bought the Mumba on Dec 3, 2022. [I paid $21.99 USD + $6.99 shipping to Hungary (EU)](https://imgur.com/a/9yZLgLH). My order was shipped from Hong Kong on Dec 5 and it was delivered by UPS to me today, Dec 12. Overall the shipping was very fast, the order was processed quickly and I received numerous e-mails informing me of the status of my parcel, I also received a tracking number as well. I am super happy overall. (in comparison Satisfye would ship for $35, and Skull & Co would ship for free but would add $6.21 in taxes, which is odd as these products are normally tax free)
**===** **Packaging** **===**
It came well-wrapped in a stylish box, with added foam padding to protect the grip with an extra small plastic bag on top. I had no issues there.
**===** **The Grip** **===**
* **Build quality**: It feels like top-quality rubber, it is matte but does not attract fingerprints/dust, it also has some heft. Tt doesn’t bend easily and fits the Switch snugly, there are no loose spots anywhere. The plastic backplate that it adds makes the whole Switch much more rigid and “stable”. I would also be much more compatible taking my Switch on the road with this Grip combined with a screen protector, it is much more portable than the Satisfye grip for example, I do regret not buying the matching case for it now.
* **Feel**: The first thing I felt was that the Muma Blade ads much needed “heft” (it weighs 125 grams afterall) to the console, it feels a lot nicer to hold it in my big man-hands. When playing on the “bare” Switch I sometimes had a fear that I’d just snap the JoyCons off with extra force, also there was some flex and creaking (very minor, had it on all three of my Switches) that really bothered me. The Mumba Blade grip solves these issues perfectly, by adding much needed rigidity to the Switch, now I feel safe “manhandling” it. Also it feels very nice in the hands during longer play sessions, I do not have any complaints on ergonomics.
* **Design:** It feels industrial (reminds me of the old Motorola Defy, if anyone remembers), or those shock-proof cases for smartphones. Overall it feels very protective, won’t drop my Switch to test though. The grip has holes for all the vents (top and bottom), also ports, USB C port are all left open which is a plus for me. My main criticism is that by using the grip I lose the ability to use the kickstand, and taking off the JoyCons is a bit more difficult now (although removing the grip is super easy). Tthe volume and power off buttons also feel a bit soft (they don’t feel great without the grip either), but they do work you just need to press them a tiny bit harder. Also it docks as well, although it is a very tight fit, but it works and does not bend/force open the dock.
**Pros:**
\- Low price, cheap and fast shipping.
\- Excellent build quality.
\- Great ergonomics, rigidity.
**Cons:**
\- Volume/Power buttons are a bit hard to press.
\- Lost kickstand functionality.
\- Dock fits, but it’s nearing the point of uncomfortably tight, shouldn’t cause issues though.
**===** **Summary ===**
I didn’t have high expectations for the Mumba Blade, didn’t find many reviews of it apart from a few Reddit comments here and there and some YouTube videos. Satisfye and Skull&Co has much more aggressive marketing and presence on social media/Reddit
I was pleasantly surprised however, I think the Mumba Blade awesome product, I’d say it is miles better than Skull and Co grips (I mean no finnicky plastic bits to lose), and while I’d say Satisfye is a tiny bit better grip due to ease of removal and even more rigidity I would definitely not pay $35 just to have it shipped to me and you shouldn’t either.
If you are looking for the cream of the crop and you live in the USA then I’d get the Satisfye, if you live in the EU and you want a very good rigid protective grip that is also very comfortable while not skinning you on shipping the Mumba Blade is highly recommended.
