So the Nintendo president confirmed that support for the Nintendo Switch will at least continue up to the first half of 2025 and that they still have plenty of surprises for 2024, with an emphasis to capture much of the momentum and interest that the Super Mario Bros. movie created.
I guess that means they have a Mario title planned for 2024’s holidays. Maybe Mario Baseball game? Surprise Metroid 4 announcement, probably not? Another enhanced release like Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD, I can see that happening. Xenoblade Chronicles X on Switch finally? I wouldn’t be surprised by another Kirby game.
There’s actually another reason I ask this. What else is there? They’ve exhausted much of their heavy-hitters like a Mario mainline game, Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Smash Bros. that you have to wonder what else is there? Sure, Pikmin 4, Metroid, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem are successful and Nintendo is taking them more seriously but what about the king of big hitters, the big boys like Mario and Zelda? It feels like every year has to have that one title that shines brighter than others and for 2023’s case, it’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Tears of the Kingdom and I’m saying this as someone who believes Pikmin 4 is my GOTY.
