Xbox one doesn’t have cec, so how does this work?

The Xbox one does not have hdmi cec connectivity, this means without the connect (which only controls power and volume) the Xbox one can’t talk to your tv. So, in that case, how does the Xbox talk to my tv and tell it that it’s a game? Thx in advance 🙂 (also I checked and my tvs game mode settings are set to let console decide instead of on or off, so this is the Xbox doing it.)
