Basically I have the option to get an official pro controller with a charging cable for £28 or an unofficial one with no cable for £12. I have a feeling that an official one would feel quite a bit better than an unofficial one but I'm wondering if anybody has any insight on which I should get.

    1. I had one of those knockoff ones a few years ago and it honestly wasn’t terrible, but after going back to a real one there is a pretty big difference in quality. The biggest thing I noticed with the knockoff version is that it started making this terrible whining noise when it was charging. I never used it enough to test the battery life fully, but I’m sure it’s less than the OEM controller’s 80 hours. The shell feels extremely cheap and thin, but the buttons and sticks were alright even if they looked noticeably cheaper. I had a white one so maybe it’s different, but the shell was so thin that all the LEDs would shine through the plastic and it looked really ugly. I ended up taking the controller apart and using some of the parts in other things.

tldr: The knockoff is usable, but the OEM is worth the extra cost.

what are the chances i got a wii u pro controller today haha, id say the pro controller coz it’s really good and youve got a cable. with that cable you can get an adapter and plug it into your pc for whatever reason (a game or emulator etc). id recommend spending that extra £16 for an actual nintendo controller. who knows what’s in those value controllers

    3. OEM first party/actually good 3rd party stuff. always shell out the money for old stuff. (GameCube power brick flashbacks). btw switch pro controllers work with a modded Wii U so if definitely recommend that over Wii U pro.

I got a knockoff from Amazon a while back around 2017 and I’m not sure what it is exactly but it feels and operates and looks (aside from the absence of the WiiU logo) identically to the original

    5. I’ve got one of each and the only difference is the thumb sticks on the official one are a very slightly more rubbery plastic, but not quite as soft as the gamepad thumb sticks.

    6. Buy the first party controller. Be careful where you buy from, there are knock offs that have the Wii U text on then.

Get first party on ebay. This website looks like a dkoldies clone.
