I had a usb stick with all my games on it that stopped working and I'm looking for something new, would this work well on my Wii U and will i need to buy any extra cables for it or anything? Or would I be better off with another, if so what one

Make sure to find an external drive with an external power source as the Wii U doesn’t give a lot of power to usb devices, especially so for larger drives 🙂
