The interview with him on a Friends Per Second podcast a few weeks ago was really excellent. People should watch that. He is a genuine lover of games who wanted to make his own game to celebrate the medium and personal subject matter that was very important to him.

But in all seriousness, people talk about “Cancel Culture TM”, but what is that if it *isn’t* targeted harassment campaigns by people wanting not just *you* to disappear but anybody like you who follows in your footsteps?

There’s two things I know about this game.

      1. For some reason everytime it was brought up people would cry about Baby Inc or something with that name and nobody would explain what’s wrong with that company except woke.

      2. The guy who presented this at the Game Awards is a Kingdom Hearts fan so that’s why I bought it but haven’t gotten to it yet.

Looks like a beautiful game and I saw him talk about the heartfelt reason he made it. Why the hell is he getting harassed?

I going to buy this game, just to support the studio. There should be more games like this.

Sweet Baby Inc. had it’s dirty hands on this game, which is why it’s getting harassed. I’m not a fan of Sweet Baby Inc. but a game like this doesn’t deserve to be constantly targeted by people who get upset and that need to get a life. Go after the wretched company that decided to involve itself with this game, not the devs or the game itself.

its fucking stupid this demand for every game and every character to have white characters in them, at this point i want gaming to be even more diverse just so these people go away. if gaming liiterally died tomorrow i dont think i would mourn too much cause of idiots like this

    7. I think him and his team got swept up in the BS SBI hunters, the story of why he wanted to create this game in the 1st place is kinda beautiful imo and this is just sad.

I really enjoyed this game. Sad to hear Abubakar Salim being harassed over it. He’s an awesome dude, and neither he nor this game deserve negativity.

I may not like being pandered to add a black person and him pulling that card isn’t helping him much either,  but no one is deserving of any sort of harassment whatsoever, but even when it comes to the BS surrounding SBI.

It’s just one of those occasions where I just wish modern social media as a whole isn’t a thing at this point.  I truly think gaming would be much more enjoyable without it’s cancerous influence in the whole thing.

    10. “Rah, rah, rah! They only put in non-white characters because they are pandering!”

OK so? At least that means there are actually non-white characters around now, which 20 years ago was definitely not the case

It’s not really pandering though since it features, African mythology. Why would there be a white person in that game? That makes the outrage look even more stupid, the characters fit the setting. The creative director of the game studio is also black, so there really isn’t any pandering. This is so stupid that people are angry about this or go out of their way to worry about it, just don’t consume the media you don’t like and move on.
