Lowering Difficulty In Elden Ring Would Strip “A Fundamental Part Of The Experience”, According To Miyazaki

    1. Meh. Just have input and output damage settings. The game is superior with mods on PC for that reason. 60% of the people who bought this game haven’t even made it halfway through just following trophy statistics.

    2. Maybe it would, but I found the game a chore to play because of the combat – and just never finished it.

    3. Thats up them. But there’s a reason that the Spiderman games, Horizon etc are so popular.

because there’s a lot of people who just wanna story-mode through games

From software releases something and we are once again having this difficulty debate for the millionth fucking time… it’s getting very tiring at this point.

    6. I’d be happy if I could just play with a friend without being constantly invaded

    7. I don’t enjoy the difficulty of these games. I think adding difficulty settings would help the game reach a larger audience and be more accessible. But it’s the creator’s vision and they shouldn’t be expected to change it if they feel it compromises the vision. Seems they’re doing just fine, not every game is or needs to be for everybody

    8. I kind of get it, but I still disagree. Not everyone is a teenager or college student with infinite time to waste. The Soulsborne games are awesome, but when you need to do academic research on wikis to even understand the basics of the RPG mechanics, various esoteric storyline elements, and combat in addition to spending hundreds of hours perfecting combat timing, I think one needs to question the game design approach.

I really appreciate the old school nature of the Soulsborne games, but I have actually never beat one, despite playing several. I just don’t have the time commitment to slog through them all, and they are often obscure just to be obscure.

Half the time in Elden Ring, I don’t even know where I should be going. Since the difficulty is always so high, it’s hard to tell if you should still stick with an area or move on to an “easier” one. I feel Dark Souls and Bloodborne were better designed.

Edit: And the difficulty actually reduces my experimentation within the games. Because I’d love to experiment more with weapons, but you just can’t do that without pouring over the wikis. Many weapons are useless without hitting a very specific node of the stats and weapon upgrade tree and/or special items, none of which are discoverable. Many weapons and items have deeply hidden stats.
