You can probably open it up and reconnect the wires internally in the transformer block. I’ve never opened one for a Wii U gamepad but they’re usually soldered to terminals. Only issue is it would shorten the cable a few inches.
Your easier solution is just to get a USB cable that fits the Wii U gamepad such as this one.
