F1 Manager 25 DLC: CADILLAC Career Part 2 – Trying to Score a POINT!

    In today’s episode, can we score our first ever points with Cadillac Formula 1, or is reality setting in on how hard this challenge might be? It wasn’t too bad of a start to life in Cadillac Formula 1. It was awesome to see your guys’ reactions to uh to us bring back Air Football Manager, first of all, and then also having Cadillac as well. I know probably one of the popular choices to to do some sort of career with. Um, and we nearly got points. We nearly got points with Valtry Botas 11th place. Per P13. Overall, I think actually quite a solid solid race if you consider, you know, this is where we are on the R&D chart. You know, with the upgrades and everything going into China. Um, you know, we’re obviously not right up there, but I think it’s quite close to the point where our drivers are making a big difference. you know, starting a career like this, having 83 rated bot ass, 82 rated pars, forget their age, forget maybe the the lack of racing they’ve had IRL in the game, that rating makes a big big difference, you know, to the kind of result they could get. And clearly in the case of Fernando Alonzo, because I mean, looking at the R&D shot, how on earth did that man win the Australian Grand Prix? Unbelievable. I mean, a crazy start to this career. um in terms of Fernando uh winning that um just I I actually don’t know how he’s done that cuz Lance you can’t see it here but his teammate Lance Stroll finished like what 20th or something like like nearly last. So yeah, ridiculous stuff as we now go towards the Chinese Grand Prix. Only four days. So realistically there’s not a lot we can do in terms of cardamom and I mean the front wing design is going to take 23 days to do. So, we’ll pop some stuff on because we’ve got ATR, but it’s more just for the the the races to come. But in this episode, we are going to be doing uh four races in total. So, there is that time over the course of this episode to get those upgrades in. Uh I think in terms of the ones we’re going to manage and the ones we’re actually going to just simulate through, Bahrain’s always quite a fun one, I think. So, we’re going to simulate China. We’re going to manage Bahrain. I’m gonna simulate IMA and I’m I’m gonna manage Monaco because uh maybe Monaco is a place where we could do something quite special. We’re popping in designs for under floor and suspension for the first time as well uh to get that going. But apart from that, we’re going to get get going into it. One thing I will say, I’m going to swap around uh these team colors just a little bit to make the main one yellow. And then we’re going to go with blue there, just because I think on the dot then on the uh on on the timing ladder, it might be yellow to match our our car, which is what someone suggested in the comments below, which I will oblige to make. Actually, to be fair, some yellow accents on the outside here. It’s not too bad. All right, this is our qualifying shaved out around the Chinese Grand Prix with the simula. Oh my god. What? P8 for Perez in the simulated qual around China. Damn. Perez cooked. Perez cooked. Um, I’m not going to jinx it. I’m just going to continue simulating. I’m not going to be like, “Oh, I should manage this now. I’m going to fluff it up. Let’s let them do their thing.” They’ve He’s got that with a 46% car setup. For goodness sake, let’s see how this one goes. I’m going to let them do their own strategy. What I will do is just at the start of this race, bump that up. Uh, and then let’s see how it goes. Oh, come on. If we could aim for our first points in a simulated race, that would be kind of crazy, wouldn’t it? Right. Who won this thing? Yeah, Gazzley there coming back after the checkered flag. Okay, just a a sos so race for Gassley there. And Norris wins and we do get our first point on the board with a simulated race which is quite actually that’s bigger than me getting it because that tells us that even the game thinks we could manage a point here and that’s a very impressive weekend for Perez. Uh qualified P8 finishes P10. That’s very very good. Botas not so much P7. Surprised at that to be honest cuz Botas obviously was a stronger candidate uh in the opening race. Lando Norris wins the McLaren on top. Vistappen this time. Alonzo, it’s only a feeble P7 compared to his P1. But Lance Stroll P9. So in the driver’s championship, Lando leads the way. Level on points with Lewis Hamilton. Fernando Alonzo just there. Constructors wise, we are now in seventh place. Level on points with H. One point off RB. Um I I feel like that P6 here will be the aim. I think we in the first season getting into this will be very very difficult. So already we’re making a good start but obviously it’s just so early on in the season. The wheels are still turning and we’re still getting momentum going. These guys are all getting momentum going but it’s a good start. I mean that’s great. Perez one point on the board. It’s our first points and it’s from a simulated race. I’m a little bit uh you know obviously it would have been great to actually see the first point with our own eyes but it’s also a different thing getting our first points that we actually managed them to get and bar rain is always a really fun one which I’m looking forward to 11 days time can we get anything done not really not really what I am going to do is an inventory of things just to get this uh extra bit made on the car upgrade complete as well CFD simulator very very good that was one HQ facility we did in the first episode. So that’s come in. That’s all solid. So that’s going to be a nice little bump to all of those stats you can see on the right hand side. So now we just mosy on towards the bar ranger on preless. There’s some little pop-ups coming through for little management bits up until then. Doesn’t look like it. We’re going to get straight into it. Race targets 18 and 18. So we are maximizing that money by the way. Absolutely. Like we will be aiming for higher than 18th every single time. So that’s going to be great. All right. Just swapping through some of the parts that we’ve been using. Gearbox, engine, ERS will keep cuz there’s only two of them. So very, very slim pickings, I must say, with the ERS every single time. Right. Setup work. Little tweak into quali. It’s a risky strategy. I’m going to simulate Q1. I I think we can get through. I think we can get through into Q into Q2. Come on now. Come on. it. [Music] Of course, of course, of course, of He’s gone from getting P8 in China, getting our first points of the season to being knocked out. P7, of course. That’s my luck. That’s my luck. Bas had 97% setup as well. Like, what’s gone on? What’s happened there then? Oh, dear me. Oh, dear. It wouldn’t be my F1 for Manager series without uh the uh consistent little cockups that uh keep it interesting. You know, it’d be very boring if I was just a managerial god nailing everything all the time. You know, this keeps us on our toes. How’s he gone from scoring points to being knocked out? That’s That’s on him. That was his Sergio Perez simulated got knocked out of there and simulated he was the same man who got P8 in quali in China that what’s happened that inconsistency right bot first lap on the board 1292 going to see if that’s um any good I mean it’s better than done right now a bit of a howler from Charles two and a bit tense off there yellow flags for Antonelli locking up not having a great time with it Again, it would seem from the first episode Kevin Magnus in the Red Bull has popped in a time for P1. If if you’re wondering what on earth are you on about Kevin Magnus in the Red Bull, you’ve missed out my friend on the first episode and clued in on some of the slightly unexpected wacky driver transfers that came with installing and loading in this series is actually I’m not going to use that tire. I want to use a a scrubs there cuz I want to keep a fresh tire in if we get through into Q3 which is the aim but it’s going to be close. We’re P9 right now. We’re going to go now. Good bit of time there. Yeah, good good bit of space there for Votas to operate in. Green first sector. Bman spun it. He’s P8. So that’s quite big. So he’s not improved then. But Stappen should go quicker. Norris should as well. I feel like yeah, we’re not safe. We’re definitely not safe through. We need a good lap here to try and get through into Q3. Perez has already had the team’s first Q3 appearance um in China. So this is now down to Botas. Can he get through into Q3? It’s a yellow middle sector. Not too great. We’re on the bubble and surely the stappen and Norris improve. So let’s see from Valkyrie to the line. No improvement. Ah yeah. That’s probably us out then. The stappen’s coming through. Lando’s coming through. Surely they improve. No, no, no improvement. Oh my days, we are we have scraped through into Q3 and last race is race winner Landon Norris knocked out but Stappen’s out as well whereas Magnus made it through and it’s a one two for Ferrari. Both Aston are up there kind of showing immediately the R&D chart literally just means niche already because Aston consistently up here ruffling the feathers with the bigger names. But Ferrari looking pretty good around bar rain. I’m just chuffed we made it through there. I was I thought I thought after that slower lap we were we were a goner. Right, we got a new set of tires cuz we got through to Q3. So that gives us two runs on a new set of soft. So, let’s see how Botas does on this first one. We’ll just fast forward through and see. Oh, catches a little bit of traffic of Pashri there, but it’s fine. Not too much of a hold up. Crossing the line. 1298. That seems slow. Why does that seem incredibly slow? It’s bec It’s because it is incredibly slow. Yeah, there you go. 1.2 off. Okay, we go again. One last set of tires. Hopefully clean air this time. Russell on provisional pole. Alonszo 0.01. What? You know what? This is that Alonzo. He’s just impressing. He’s trying to impress me cuz he’s doing bits in the car when it’s when it’s me watching him. The simulated race in China, not that much. That seems suspect. Right, let’s go now, bot. I’m going to go for a manual control, you know. Let’s try and really heat these tires up, huh? Right. Tires very much fired up. We’re going to go push and deploy. Let’s go, go, go. Come on, Valtry. Let’s light up the times. Green first sector, green the middle. We need something big here. 1.3. Even if we get 8/10, we’ll only be ninth place. So, watch how we do gain like 8/10. And it’ll be only good enough for ninth place. Bot ass. Come on. Come on, mate. Come on. The flying fin. Our flying fin crossing the line. He gained 710. So, we’re still P10. You know what? We got to be happy. We we got to be happy we’re even in Q3 for goodness sake as Cadillac F1. Let’s be real. We’ve actually we’re actually just happy to be here. So, I’ll take it. It looks like it might be LLV on pole position unless others will go quicker. Alonzo good enough for P3. Ollie Bman P4 and the H. That’s a bit crazy after he’s spanning Q2. Yellow flags. Uh oh, did Botas retire cuz he ran out of fuel? I think he did. Um, Llair on pole, but this is the crazy second row. Alonzo and Bareman. That’s um Bman’s done insane. I mean, kudos to him, but obviously H is one of our rivals, so that’s a little bit frustrating to see from our side of things. Um, in terms of obviously, you know, is he going to score big now? That could be a concern if H has get a load of points. And it’s another similar race to what we had in Australia where Bot ass is a bit higher than Perez, but we saw that simulated China race. Perez does have some pace in his locker. So, let’s just hope we can unlock it today. I’m going to commit to the two stop cuz the two stops. If you commit early, it’s the way to go here. Let’s go. Well, the team’s already technically got points, but I’m still trying to get my first points of the season managing these guys. actively. Let’s get it. Go on. Sitting in 22nd with a long and difficult race lying ahead. Sure to be a test of resilience and patience. And it’ll be exciting to see just what will happen here today. Here we go with the Bahrain Grand Prix. And it’s lights out. Lights out and away we go. Let’s see on board from Botas P10. A little bit of a sluggish start. Seems to be a theme so far. Bit of a slow getaway for this Cadillac car. Maybe acceleration not fully there as Antonelli up to P4. I can see is Bman fighting well Vstappen of all people that’s a pretty big name to be fighting to be honest Perez P16 uh he’s got ahead of Carlos I think that is and so far Botas well he’s kept the staff at bay behind is it Albon versus Pastry yeah impressing in P4 there still P5 right early doors though let’s see what we can do as we fast forward through on the opening laplair still leads from Russell And Vistappen still not fastest. I’m quite surprised to be honest. I’m very surprised. Yellow flags for what? Who’s gone off? I don’t know who, but we don’t need to worry about it. Right, we’re on the soft compound. So Tway is going to be pretty high, so we need to be very very cautious here. Let’s avoid risk curbs is Oh, Botas goes for a move. Oh, Botas has cooked Pastri. Botas, what a move. Absolutely cooked Pastri whilst we were bringing down his pushing level. and going avoid risk curves. Look here at turn 10. What an overtake, mate. Rolling back the years. Valtry is there. Lovely stuff. Perez up to P15 as well. He’s got Teao Porchair in the RV as the McLaren’s are struggling a little bit for pace that it would seem maybe. Good stuff there from Botas. Might just come back. Let us know. Vers Stappen’s actually going to get Pashri. Yeah, the the McLaren’s having a bit of a howler. What’s going on? What’s going on? And Mercedes are in a goodstead. Russell leads from Antonelli up to third now. Okay, we’ve got a bit of a changing of the guard in this race, it would seem as uh Perez is cussing us out there being a sitting duck. The straight line speed still being worked on a little bit in this car as Perez tries to get poor chair there. Oh, stopapping down the inside. It was always going to happen to be honest. And we’re down to P1 then. But let’s try and follow through with Vistappen if we can. Let’s go off avoid haris and just stick with the neutral I think. All right, Bas under pressure coming back at us. So maybe just initially that first phase, first few laps are looking good. But now we got two cars behind that I reckon could overtake us cuz we know that H has some pace because Bman’s holding his own in P5. Perez is closing back up to Borchair having been overtaken. Oh, the McLaren comes at us. Try and deploy, try and defend if he can. No. Go on, keep attack. Come back at him. Go back at him. Oh, we’ve been done by both McLaren’s to be honest. Really, in hindsight, I don’t know why we thought we could maybe stay ahead in McLaren, boys. But I mean, the top 10’s very congested right now. There’s a lot of Who’s going to drop out realistically at this top 10 to get us into the points? Albon maybe Stroll. Come on. Stroll should be one that’s dropping out the top 10 as Ollie Bearman has just got up to P4. Is this the Bearman from our my team in F125? What’s going on? And it’s a one two for Merc by the way. Mercedes flying right now. Although Oh no, Ferrari on softs as well as Perez is getting very very angry I must say. Aron’s passes now as well. The race pace is not looking insane at the moment, but we got to keep the faith. We got to keep the faith. Perez just got poor chair. So, Perez and Botas are now together actually. Perez just down the road further back. Good move actually on poor chair for Perez to get to P 16. But yeah, there’s Botas having a good go to come back at Oon and Oh, wow. Okay. Oh, we had some bonkers weird leaders and um it seems like the the races I’m managing are pretty pretty pretty crazy compared to the simulated one. I’m going to push Perez a little bit out cuz I want to I want to get away from Porche if we can. I feel like he’s just dragging us down. Break that DRS. There we go. DRS broken. Bring it back down to earth now. All right, Ty was pretty good. We can probably go for another little pushing bit. Bortletto is now catching up to us. How’s that happen then? Bortletto showing some insane pace. This is Audi versus Cadillac. Bortletto on the outside. We’re about halfway through the first stint. Bortletto gets us. Where has this come from? Antonelli falling away now. His tires are falling off the cliff. That’s the inexperience there probably showing. And after all of that, Bman’s fallen down to P12. I’ve just noticed Albon P11. They could be there for the taking. 3 seconds ahead. Maybe we should be aiming for Albon and Bareman and maybe Anteneelli with the way his tire wear is going. What tire is he going onto? He’s This is a bit of an earlier stop onto another set of softs. I reckon we got Antelli. So that’s three positions we can get and that could be P10 with Botas. There’s hope. Yeah, there’s hope. Um, Alonzo is actually behind Stroll right now, but that might just change right now and P9, but I think he’s going to he’s going to fall away with bad tire wear 57%. Our one as well. I think Bon’s also vulnerable. So, and I think Ricardo, well, Ricardo has actually done very well to to to jump us somehow. So, he’s maybe an issue that we need to try and get rid of, but we’re just doing our business. They’re kind of in tandem. I kind of wish they had a bit of a gap there cuz I think whoever’s behind is wearing out their tires obviously and they keep swapping positions which is fine but they’re maybe losing a little bit of time with each other. So, um I’d rather them try and close up to Bareman who is now falling off the cliff. You can see. All right, we’ve done a lot of good tire wear. Let’s um let’s go like this. I’m going to tell Boss not to fight Perez because he’s behind right now and I rather them just go in tandem. Right, we’re pushing hard now. Perez was just about to catch Albon but he’s pit. We are going to maybe start closing out to be I hope. What’s his tireway saying? 55%. Surely we’re closing up there. Surely surely surely surely. Right. Pit windows now. We We’ve entered into the pit window. Bman is still a little bit ahead of us. I don’t know how Bman’s doing this. 49% tire. How have we not caught him yet? And then Ricardo is just doing very very well. on the alpine. Stroll’s now in the middle of us annoyingly. I’m trying to get bot ass ahead of him if we can, but Stroll’s actually very quick. He’s closing up to Perez. Yeah, he’s annoying Perez here. All right, I feel like we could probably do a bit of a blitz soon and push. How are these guys have been awful tragic on their tires in it? They’ve stayed ahead of us this entire time. Maybe. Maybe that just shows we’re just lacking a bit of pace then. Doesn’t matter. We have better tire wear. We need a bit more pace in the car, which is fair enough. We’re very early days in you know what is you. It’s a new team to F1, so it’s basically like a road to glory. You know, we’re starting from very low back. Poorchair just overtaken us. Oh, that’s a bit frustrating. He’s annoying us here. He’s definitely annoying us. Uh oh, and Botas had slightly more worn soft tires as well, so can’t really afford to push that much. H from here on out. Honestly, I’ve just got to hope that some of these guys fall away with tire wear uh enough that I can overtake them. I bet Bman’s 24%. He’s He needs to pit surely. He’s pitting soon, right? We did get Bareman, but the problem was it didn’t even matter for our race cuz Ricardo came out of nowhere to be pretty quick and Antelli didn’t drop off as much as I thought. If he did, that could have been a P10 there as Okon does frustrate us and get us on the last lap. What is that? Struggles just couldn’t go any faster. Yeah, I’m sure. Vry, come on. Get him back on the DRS. Here we go. Come on. That’s for Australia, mate. Get him back. Lovely. No, he got us back. He got us back again, didn’t he? Oh, brilliant. P12 and 14. Aon, man. He’s He’s becoming the main rival of the series already. Now, after the excitement, they’re showing him as well. Of course, now of No one wants to see him, man. No one wants to see him, but uh it was Lando Norris that won it then from 14 places gained. That’s pretty ridiculous. But Stafen also 11 places gain for second place. Um h just yeah I in reality we weren’t on for points actually. We needed a lot to happen. Ricardo came out of nowhere and then we needed Antonelli to fall off even more than he did but just didn’t work out for us. But I think that showed we’ve actually got pretty damn amazing tire wear compared to some of our rivals. We just need to get pure downforce and pace on the car then. So that’s where we’ll focus our efforts is high speed, medium speed, low speed, just get downforce on the car. as Alexander Dunn grows to 72, our affiliate driver growing very very well. Uh sporting director as well. Welcome growth. That is board attendance at the next Grand Prix. Um I’m going to say no for now. Let’s let’s it’s a bit early for a board attendance. I mean the design actually all of these designs will get done in time for IMLA but whether we manufacture them in time is a different story. Front wing can we get that done in time please? Very similar to what we did in bar there. Just the other way around to be honest. So, that really is kind of where the car is operating at the moment. One stop around IMA. Ferrari win on home soil in Imila. It is not. It’s Lando Norris and Vappen again. One two. No points for us this time. Bman did get points. He learned from his mistakes at Bar Rain. So yeah, we’re we’re we’re on the on the precipice of getting something maybe, but H did quite well there to get three points. So we’re down to eighth now all of a sudden. We need to bounce back a little bit. Hopefully Monaco, come on. Little bit of Monaco magic. You can maybe get some points here. I’m I’m begging. Sponsor activities coming in. Target missed. I’m hoping didn’t really make a huge huge difference, but we’ve also seen so far the R&D chart has to mean meant nish because right now Aston Martin are ahead of Murk which is ridiculous if you look at what the R&D shot was at the start of the episode. So I think we could probably do better than it says. Oh it’s raining as well on practice. Ah cloudy only for the race though. That could have been a bit of Spanish to the works for our to be fair raining in on Friday means a little bit less practice knowledge for the for the weekend ahead. So that could help us. Cataclysmic in fact. But maybe we can get through it from 20th. What we got to lose? But bot ass. He’s got some sort of icon next to him though and Botas got overtaken by Gastley. I’m now falling away from him. So yeah, we just do not have enough downforce or grip for the car for for this track. Pwin is open for Perez going to come in now cuz he’s really struggling on those softs really a lot. So he’s on to a better tire now. Bas holding up. Oh, he was going to hold up a red ball. You can see Perez, I know your tires are cold, mate, but that’s the only way you’re getting to the end from that really early pit stop on uh on on the soft. We are about to be lapped by Fernando Alonzo who who leads this uh Monaco Grand Prix. That is our life right now. That is our life. Alonsozo is just behind there. Oh dear. I’m just putting it go with per just for the sake of it just to go a bit quick. We got fuel to burn as well. May as well. May as well. Bartas’s P15 has got poor chair 4 seconds back. We are 20 seconds behind Gastley. We are in a different post code in this race. And Alonzo still leading by the way. Is he going to get his second race win of the season? What What is this save that we’ve got right now? I feel like this save is massively bugged. Right on towards the last lap. were pushing hard to try and stay ahead of Teao Porsche who’s coming knocking on the door for the allimportant 15th place in this Monaco Grand Prix. Ah, every position matters, you know, as Fernando Alonzo with a lap Sergio Perez behind him coming through for P1. It is two race wins for Fernando Alonzo and Aston Martin in this save. Crazy GG. That’s where we want to be. But right now, we’ve got a lot of work to do. 15th and 21st. I mean, it wasn’t going to be easy, you know, new team in F1. It was not going to be easy, but I didn’t expect it to be this painful at a place like Monaco, but just shows we are lacking so much downforce. I think that’s honestly really now forget the straight line speed that we delved into in the first episode. It is just downforce that we need desperately. But it’s not all lost. We, you know, we did score one point. The AI did it with the simulation. H only scoring seven points. So, it’s not like they’ve pulled away. So, that P6 fight is still on in my mind. We just need to just bear, you know, knuckle down and get to work on the car.
