Legacy of the Forge DLC First Impressions #kingdomcomedeliverance2 #kcd2 #warhorsestudios
So, I’ve gotten the chance to play the Legacy of the Forge DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and honestly, I’m absolutely loving it. Now, this is their largest DLC/ expansion to the game yet, adding hours upon hours of content to the base game, especially around rebuilding this forge and this blacksmith and running a business. A core mechanic that I was dying for in the base game. I really, really love the smithing mechanic of the game. In fact, I’m still surprised no indie or double A developer has come along and just stolen the smithing mechanic from this game and made it its own full-fledged game because it is that satisfying and fun to do. And though the prior DLC, Brushes with Death and this one have both received warm reception from the core community. There’s definitely outliers out there saying that these have been very underwhelming or not big gigantic expansions like they want. And I think it’s because the game is so impressive and so large in and of itself. People forget Warhost Studios isn’t a AAA dev trying to make their singleplayer game be a live service model like Bethesda or like CD Project Red with like these blood and wine gigantic 40hour expansion. So they’re not really known for that and they don’t really need to do that. And plus you can easily get 20 plus hours out of Legacy of the Forge and for the price tag that is extremely worth it and there’s a lot of value in it. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues to be my game of the year contender, if not game of the decade contender for myself. I absolutely love it. I’m so excited to see this last and final DLC coming up this winter. But I am loving Legacy of the Fores.
