Silksong Cut Content DLC? Missing Areas, Bosses and NPCs!
Hollow Night Silk Song finally delivered a massive new adventure with Hornet. But not everything we saw in the trailers actually made it into the game. Some areas just vanished. And the big question is, were they cut forever or are they being saved for a future DLC? [Music] Team Cherry added DLC packs in Hollow Knight with new bosses, quests, and even new mechanics long after launch. With Silkong, we might be seeing the same strategy. Which brings us to the missing areas and NPCs teased in trailers that never appeared in the final game. It’s important to note that Silkong is already confirmed to have DLC expansions as stated by Team Cherry in a Bloomberg interview with Jason Shrier, published on August 21st, the same day the final trailer was released. Launching it is obviously quite exciting. What comes after for us is equally as exciting. The most interesting thing now is what can we add to it next? We got a plan. Admittedly, some of the plans for that stuff are kind of ambitious as well, but hopefully we can achieve some of it. The first missing area is the coral forest, which was partially replaced by the sands of Carrick. In the early trailers, we saw Hornet in a bright coral reef environment full of vivid reds and aquatic details. But in the final game, that entire biome is mostly gone. You can enter a similar area in Act 3, but only as a past memory. Only a few traces of its design remain in isolated spots, which makes it feel like it was cut or maybe saved for later. At least the Crust King Khan boss fight wasn’t removed. Then there’s the Steel Assassin group. We know about Sharp, one of the Steel Assassins, who was originally going to appear in Hollow Knight, but ultimately didn’t. It looks like we won’t see him in Silkong either, at least for now. There was an entire group tied to Hornet’s Journey. In the final game, those characters never appear, and Sharp himself feels underused. In the Happy Hollow Team Cherry 2018 blog post, we can see that it was planned. Playable Hornet update. We’re aching to reveal Hornet to you all, but things are still in pieces at the moment, so we’re going to hold off until we can give her the full reveal she deserves. Saying that, folks may remember this early tease for a deadly backer boss in Hornet Rival. Who is this nefarious foe? We want to take this moment to properly introduce you to Steel Assassin Sharp. Sharp is a hunter from a distant land. He’s tasked with eliminating Hornet and he’s not come alone. Sharp brings companions on his deadly quest. Who are they and why are they pursuing Hornet? We’ll leave you to guess at their full nature. Just know Hornet’s going to be fighting for her life against this highly trained trio. Sharp is a Kickstarter boss from Jaspel Budram. Jaspal proposed an assassin bug with a whip-like nose and several other unique talents. And remember, all other Backer bosses in Backer Dungeons will be landing alongside playable Hornet. Two other characters are teased alongside Steel Assassin Sharp, and we can actually see the one on the left in the old trailer in the Coral Forest area chasing Hornet. What happened to this group of enemies? Taking into account that Steel Assassin Sharp is a boss created by a Kickstarter backer and already presented and designed, it should appear in an upcoming DLC. Another missing location is the hermit crab village. One trailer showed a coastal settlement filled with shell-covered crabs and unique structures. This village never appears in the game. Entire NPC hubs like this often require a lot of development, which is why I think it might have been delayed for a DLC release. Not only that, but if you look closely, we can see other parts of this same crustation themed area showcasing some enemies as well. The difference is that one of these enemies did make it into the game, located in a very important area, the abyss, while the other little crabs didn’t. So, why didn’t these areas make it? Game development is unpredictable, and Team Cherry may have trimmed or reworked zones to keep Silkong polished, but cut content doesn’t always mean lost content. Sometimes it’s just delayed. With Team Cher’s track record of releasing free expansions, it’s not far-fetched to think these zones could return. They’re visually distinct. They fill gaps in the lore, and some, like the Hermit Crab Village, feel too ambitious to simply disappear. Imagine a Silkong update adding these missing biomes along with new quests, bosses, and NPCs. It would fit perfectly with how Hollow Knight grew after release. So, what do you think? Were these areas cut permanently, or are they being saved for Silkong’s inevitable DLC? Let me know your theories in the comments, and subscribe for more content. See you soon in the next video.
