IT’S REAL! | State of Play Reaction Sept 2025 [Full Show]
All right, let’s turn it up. Let’s go. Game time. What do you got for us? PlayStation Studios. Yeah. Yeah. Is this the uh the new Eternal game? Every time the sun dies, time stretches and thank you. I’m very hyped for this for obvious reasons. For folks that have not seen my returnal playthrough, by the way, the entire series is up on YouTube. That was so much fun. So much fun. Little knob. There we go. Scan for Sultari signals. Oh, gameplay interrupted approximating. Okay. Is that the thing from the ridge? Confirmed. You better stay out of my way. Hey everyone, how’s it going? I’m Gregory Loud, creative director at Housemark. Today we are thrilled to show off this first look of gameplay for SOS running on runs pretty well. SOS builds on Returnal’s award-winning action and tells the emotional and I’m looking around Devraz’s drive. No, not the lasers again. Man, this just looks like Returnal. Here we show off one of our exciting combat features, the Sultari shield. By holding obviously some frame dropping there. That’s from the live stream. I’m sure the actual footage doesn’t look like that. I said frame drop. I meant the pixelization, not frame dropage. Sorry. I knew what I meant. By absorbing projectiles, you can now hit back hard using your power weapon. Oh, interesting. The adaptive trigger on L2, you’ll be able to destroy enemies using Eclipse driven weaponry. Fun. Oh, this is going to be sick. Show me a co-op and I’m like 100% in. I’m already 98% there. Show me co-op day one and I’m in. Sultari holocache detected. Mark it on the map. Here is a Sultari hol log where you can learn more about lost caros. Beautiful. I mean, horrifying, but it looks great. Hold on to me. I will find you. I promise. Yeah, looks pretty good. [Music] The wild part is like knowing what we know about Returnal. This is probably the tame stuff. This is probably like the first world. This is second chance where you can be revived on first death to get straight back into the action. Cool. Second chance is part of our permanent progression systems which means you will always come back stronger. Gotcha. They’ll have some permanent progression in the game, too. That’s neat. Ew. Ew. [Music] Cool enemy though. That’s sick. The sun is forever. That’s creepy as hell. I love it. Hope you love that first look at gameplay. Yeah, look great. We’re looking forward to revealing more on our mysterious and moving story and our amazing ensemble cast of NPCs in the coming months. Let’s go. Next year is when you’ll be able to play SOS, PS5, and enhanced for PS5 Pro. Thanks for watching. We can’t wait to share more from all of the team working on SOS, dude. Keep up. I love it. I love it. Woo! Yeah. Look at that. Oh, this is going to be sick, man. [Applause] I can’t wait for people to be like, “It’s just Returnal again.” That’s good. I don’t know if people know Returnal. Pretty good. Pretty good. More Returnal. Yeah. No, I’m in. I’m in. Thank you. Yeah. No, I’m good. Thank you. Thank you very much. I had so much fun with Returnal. That game was great. Wow. March 20th. That’s actually super soon. That’s 6 months. He said 2026. I assumed that was going to be like later in the year. That’s sick. That’s really soon. Yeah, I know. We’re watching it. What a what a weird transition. You actually want to deploy her? You Is this the the game from the Disco Allesium death? Cascade is one of our most highly trained operants. She’s been shelved for 5 years. The parties marked her as a failure. She won’t have to do it alone. Her old squad is still out there. I thought they’d all been ripped to shreds. probably, but she can scrape what’s left of the back. Discolesium was a very unique game, by the way. If you have not played or seen Disco Allesium, it’s a very, very interesting game. What if she butchers it like last time? I don’t think those type of games are going to be for everybody, but it was very, very cool. The problem we have plenty more, I guess. She’s a pathetic, fragile embarrassment. And her methods are so unhinged. But they get the results. No, long-range missiles get results. Show a little favor. We’re at the end of history. Everything that could go wrong already has. Zero parades. Zero parades for dead spies. Gotcha. 2026 as well. Flight simulator. [Laughter] Wait, is this actually Flight Simulator? Has this been on PlayStation before? That’s kind of wild. Looks pretty good. All All this does is make me realize that I still haven’t played Ace Combat 7. God, I need to play that game. It looks gorgeous. I have to imagine that this is a very chill game. You know, I don’t have service. Wow. Yeah. Flight simulator in just two months. 3 months rather. Sick. Look at Microsoft branching out. Sony. Oh, with PlayStation VR 2. Uh, support. That’s neat. Hostiles inbound. 100 meters in closing. I got two east side. Moving right to left. I’ve got three west side. The frame shoot on the tea of execute. Three, two, one. Execute. Does this game come out soon? Commonly known has crumbled. Alliances that held since the end of World War II gone. If you thought it was Call of Duty, I did too. If they succeed, they will have secured the most strategic rock in the history of warfare. Want to help our friends take back this rock? You’re playing a dangerous game. No doubt about it. Wouldn’t be dagger without insurmountable odds. The whole world’s going to look different now. Just takes a little shake of perspective. Got to love a challenge. Character’s got a lot of bunk. Let’s go. Stand by for reatt. Hold on. Can KO pay for this? But we don’t know how high it goes. You trying to start a war with the CIA? That is not the [ __ ] question. Oo, voice acting’s good. This is it. I know what I got to do. October 10th. I thought it came out in a couple weeks. Hey everyone, I’m Sean Benson and I’m Sid Schum. Shawn and I are back to share news and release dates for games coming to PS5. But first, thanks to EA and Battlefield Studios for that new look at the single player campaign for Battlefield 6. It launches October 10th. When was the last time they had like an actual Battlefield campaign? Now, let’s celebrate one of my favorite games of all time, which is marking its 25th anniversary this year. Oh, godamn. DSX returns. Wow. PS5 remaster is a collaboration between Idos Montreal 2015, the studio behind remastered classics like Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver. Way back to the people, and you can’t do a damn thing about it. You play as JC Denton. Don’t tell me you’re going to wear this. An augmented operative working to uncover the truth. Vision is augmented. This new version adds enhanced visuals, overhauled controls, and support for key PS5 features like haptic feedback. That’ll be fun. DSX influenced a generation of RPGs with its emphasis on choice and consequence. No two playthroughs unfold the same. I’d be interested in playing that. Remastered arrives on PS5 early next year. February 5th is actually a great time. It’s a couple weeks before the Resident Evil game. Mean, and you know what they say, everyone’s entitled to one good scare. Comes to Hadenfield in Halloween the game, a tribute to the John Carpenter classic. The team at Ilonic invites players to an asymmetrical horror sandbox where you can play as a civilian survivor or Michael Myers himself. In each game, it’s up to you as survivors to save these hapless town folk or to hunt them down as Michael Myers. He possesses unique abilities like shape jump, allowing him to move around the map unseen and pop out where you’d least expect him. Playing as a civilian, it’s up to you. Find a phone and call the police for help. Civilians can also scavenge for gear and weapons to help them survive when they inevitably cross paths with the unstoppable Michael Myers. Become the boogeyman or protect his victims when Halloween the game launches on September 2026. Two big announcements from 11th hour games. Last epic. First, their hit action RPG Last Epoch is in development for PS5. This celebrated dungeon crawler is known for its extensive skill customization, deep and rewarding loot system, and massive time traveling world. You’ll battle through the past, taking down gods and toppling cursed empires the world from its ruined future. As for that second announcement, Last Epoch’s first major expansion, Orois, will arrive at the same time as the upcoming PS5 release. Cool. That’s exciting for somebody. The Seven Deadly Sins Origin is an openw world RPG based on the beloved Japanese series. They’ve shown this game a lot. Not not they being like Sony, but the devs of this game have had this at like every major game show in hand since it initial views of Tristan the prince of Britannia. I hope it’s good. An original story you can experience only in the game. That’s a lot of money to spend on marketing. Capture creatures. Go fishing. Fishing. Cook your own meals. Let’s go. Mine resources and craft new items as you explore Britannia on your own. or step beyond the open world to tackle dungeons with a team of up to four other players. Yeah, I mean the game looks interesting. I’m not going to lie. I just I’ve never seen the show and I don’t have a lot of interest in the show. So, original game’s fun though and you can do multiplayer stuff. I’d be interested in it. To embark on a grand adventure. Venture out alone or with January 28th. Okay, that one’s coming out soon on January 28th. I don’t think that had been announced yet, so that’s new. Let’s go find Sonic Racing Crossworlds launching on PS5 tomorrow. Mega Man and his trusty vehicle roadster join the lineup as part of the Mega Man DLC pack that now it’s official. Official tissue. There you go. But they’re not alone. Proto Manto Man. Tell me Zero’s in this. Come on. Also included is a stunning re-imagined look castle from the Mega Man series. Familiar sights and sounds will take players back to some of Mega Man’s most memorable adventures. This looks cool. The Mega Man DLC pack comes to PS5 next year as part of the season pass and digital deluxe edition. The early unlock period is already underway so racing cross worlds right now. The game is so good. It’s so good. Next, two announcements from Koe Techmo. Ko Techmo has been busy. Release date for Neo3. Oh wow. I thought the release date for Neo3 would be announced at TGS. It is I who will be Shogun. You can have it. Why? You’ll never understand what it means. I am Himiko. On my honor as queen, I shall defeat Kako, my timeless friend. I trust you. Nothing will stop me from becoming Shogun. So long as this dark radiance exists, my fight will continue. [Applause] [Music] To rule, one must prove their might. The light of hope lies unseen at the end of time. Go now. You wish to become Shokun that badly. Maybe you don’t want it enough. What makes a shogun in anyway? Teach strength and superiority are what make her shogun? And I have both. Strength alone is not enough to end this war. Damn. A lot of drama. Is there that much drama in the other Neo games? February 6th. Nice. Wow. I heard the other Neo games are good. I tried playing Neo1 and it just wasn’t for me. Really? [Applause] Which one is this? I can’t even tell. Is this a remaster of Dynasty Warriors 4? Cuz that’s the only one I played. [Music] Looks good. It does kind of look like four. Three. Dang it. I was so close. Dang it. I don’t know which ones are good or bad in that game. I’ll be honest. Dynasty Warriors 4 was fun. Another world snuffed from existence. [Music] Oh, is this code vein too? Our focus, our true objective is to save this world, our current world. Need I remind you, that tampering with history is strictly forbidden. It’s time I faced my past. Let’s go. [Music] [Music] We’re in slow motion. Today you’ll pay your dues. [Music] Sick. That looks fun. Interesting. I know a lot of folks like Code Bane, so I hope they enjoy the second game, too. Looks pretty good. [Music] Back in June, we debuted Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ease Chronicles right here on State of Play. Do we need to show anymore? Today, we’re joined by the news director, followed by news from other special guests who are joining us just as Tokyo Game Show kicks off in Japan. What other special guest? Yeah, what other special guest? [Music] I’m scared. My heart rate is rising. I’m so excited to play this. You arrived exactly when you meant to. See your words for what they are. James, welcome in. I’m so excited. This will be my first time playing Final Fantasy Tactics, by the way. So, if you want to see us play it, we’re going to be doing a 6-hour stream this coming Tuesday to get it started. I’m very excited. Very, very excited. [Music] Now then, shall we play? Dang it. Anybody [Music] ever heard of this game before? I look cool. [Music] You lose your character’s body. Was that their spine? That’s brutal. That’s I mean, hey, why do I get a feeling I’m going to get DMCA for this? The start of a whole new world. Wow, just three months. Interesting. I mean, it looks interesting. They’ve got my attention, I’ll tell you that. [Music] Glory. [Music] Hallelujah. [Music] Mhm. I’m suspicious. [Music] It sounds like Creative Studio 3. They haven’t shown the dev. Well, they did show the dev for this one though, didn’t they? Chronoscript. The endless end. It’s not though. My desk works in Shuisha Games. Interesting. Had a very like Final Fantasy 14 16 sound to it, right? The music did. That’s not fair. I mean, most most fantasy RPGs kind of have that kind of sound to it. It looks interesting, though. I love 2D platformer games like this, too. So, like a rich, dark fantasy experience brought to life. Cool. Yeah, I love the art style, too. It looks so it says that in the story, but rest assured, we we will finish development. Funny. [Laughter] Look at all the Japanese studios today, huh? My hope is rising. It has to stop. It has to stop. Bring it back down. Today, a new chapter in this land’s history shall be written by our own hand. We saw this at the game, right? Those who wield power to prey on the weak. Beasts who think themselves men. That is what it means to be a queen. The time has come to do what we believe to be right. Cliff, seek out your grey main comrades. Uncover the truth that lies within and let your hearts speak without fear. In the end, all will come together as one. We fight for the future of all. Show the horde of our final battle. Fight. Fight for Pwell. If this isn’t just cinematics and that’s actual gameplay, it looks unique. This fight is not for revenge, nor glory, nor pride. This is your [Music] remember who you are and let it guide your path. Looks pretty good. At the end of it, you will find the answers you seek. March 19th. Neat. It may not have been gameboards. I I think we’ve seen that before, though. It looks familiar as hell. Is it a Sony Bluetooth speaker? Hey, Black Desert. Ah, gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. I’m going to be so honest. I just use the speakers that are in my monitor because if uh if these speakers are good, which there there’s a strong chance that they are. Sony Sony audio is very good. Like they have some of the best headphones. They always got a mic, too. Um yeah, their audio is very, very good. So, I expect that it likely is pretty good, but it’s also going to cost like probably far too much for me to actually care, respectfully. Oh, it connects to the PlayStation Portal. That’s dope. Right. That’s also part of it, right? With like built-in charging docks, too. That’s neat. Different colors. Thick. How much? Not going to tell us. Hi everyone. I’m Brett St. And I’m Christian. That was your first look at the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers which bring the PlayStation audio and chat experience to your desktop with planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link wireless technology. This is honestly this is really smart with the more they’re putting PlayStation games on PC. Let’s check in on what’s next for PlayStation Plus. Up first is the October month. Yes, it is for sure. The creepy and captivating Alan Wake 2 arrives just in time for spooky season with Goat Simulator 3 and Cocoon rounding out the list. These all arrive for PlayStation Plus Essential members on October 7th. That’s sick. Just the whole Alen Wake 2 for free if you had the PlayStation Plus. You remember me? Oh, right, right, right. This is the remaster. September 26th. As part of Naughty Dog and PlayStation’s annual celebration of this beloved series, we are thrilled to confirm the addition of The Last of Us Part Two to the PlayStation Plus game catalog. Oh, okay. Oh, it’s Humble Choice. Neat. For PS5 members, this includes The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. The definitive way to experience Ellie and Aby’s story alongside additions like the rogike survival mode, No Return. Cool. Our update to the PlayStation Plus Classics catalog is extra exciting for fans of fighting games and the number three. Tekken 3 from the original PlayStation and Soulcalibur 3 from the PS2 are coming to the service later this year. Also arriving this year, another alltime classic from the PS2, Tomb Raider Anniversary. Cool. And up next, a special message from the creator behind one of PlayStation’s most iconic franchises. [Music] Need for speed? Just kidding. [Music] [Laughter] Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. Wow. 100 million units for Gran Turismo. That’s crazy. God, right? Oh, cool. Huge update for Gran Turismo 7 in December. Cool. That looks pretty, man. I uh I actually put a uh a a wheel and a the the pedal thing on on my phone and I was just like, “What if we just did like a truck simulator stream? That could be fun.” Yeah. 100 million views is very impressive. That’s very good. All right. They said 35 plus minutes. So, we’re actually running up on time here. Oh, we’ve got the controller. [Music] Why? Why? Oh, the 20th anniversary. Okay. I was like, nah, now you’re [ __ ] with me. Don’t do that. Don’t do that. Been fighting longer than I can remember. Oh man, it’s Wolverine. Oh my god, it’s real. It’s real. I’d like to say I’m not a violent man. The draw just has a way of finding me. Oh, that is brutal. It’s been 84 years. Oh my god, dude. How far I run. Jesus always waiting. Just not for me. Visually it looks very good. Oh, cuz I ain’t no hero. Oh my god. Wolverine. Sick. Imagine shadow dropped fall to 2026. Let’s go. That looks really good. That looks really good. Good news, everybody. We let him cook and it looks like it was worth the wait. The question that comes up a lot to us at Insomniac Games is, are you going to make a Wolverine game that is as violent, as visceral as the character in the comics? Yeah, I think the answer is yes. That looked brutal. Working with Wolverine is interesting because part of the root to who he is is that he’s an unreliable narrator. He has gaps in his memory. So Wolverine doesn’t really remember a lot of his life and that’s got to be an extremely frustrating aspect. He’s this balding game, but then he could turn on a dime and he could be very, very kind and tender in the next moment. When we’re casting for someone like Logan, what we’re looking for in character traits are someone who can convey a lot with very little being spoken. When you have that first moment that we show in gameplay, there is so much emotion that you can feel behind his eyes. He looks relentless. He looks gritty. He looks angry, but also he looks maybe a little sad. That level of acting and being able to just deliver that performance with believability across both spectrums was something Insomniac ourselves, we all agreed he’s the one. We don’t need to see anybody else. Hey, I’m Liam McIntyre and I play James Logan Howlet in Marvel’s Wolverine. That That’s not bad. That one sort of works. Fans out there know what Wolverine is, who he is. My job is to try and find the essence of who Wolverine is, especially as he applies to our story. People hurt him. People take from him. People betray him. He still fights for people who can’t fight for themselves. It’s one of the greatest honors of my life, one of the biggest responsibilities I’ve ever had, and one of the coolest things I’ve ever got to do. I bet that’s got to be hype. The entire game is built around staying true to the Wolverine experience. And then how do we want to put our Insomniac stamp on that? How do we want to put our own spin and creativity, but still give something new and fresh the fans are going to be excited about? It’s the full package. It is a level of detail that we’ve never been able to do before. You could see it in the trailer. You can see I mean you can see blood in between the little lines of his teeth. I love the attention to detail. It’s exciting that we’re going to be able to bring that kind of fidelity to players. Wolverine is a character who goes to many places through the comics. You’ll see the Canadian wilderness. You’ll see Japan. There’s a shot where Logan is sliding down that rooftop and you can see the breadth of Madraore and Low Town. It’s always nice teasing the depth and the amount of characters that we’ll be seeing in the game. Omega makes mystique is there and there are some hints to other characters that fans of Wolverine will recognize for sure. Another visual element of Marvel’s Wolverine is the blood. The blood tech that was put into this game is pretty phenomenal. There’s a part in the trailer where Logan jumps down and then he does the claws up through the face. That one I thought maybe was going to be taking it too far, but I am so glad that we have it. It looks fantastic. Wolverine’s making that special, making that feel like him, making it feel different to anything else you’ve played. That’s a tough job. What’s so cool for me is there was this one section of the game I got to try. It was just visceral and immediate and so incredibly satisfying, and I was like, “This is going to be amazing.” We’re pretty excited about the artwork that we’re using on the cover. It’s dynamic. It’s roughedged. You notice it doesn’t look like our past games. has a sense of urgency and forward movement and rage and fury and that’s Wolverine. One of the cool things about Insomniac is they are probably the most collaborative group of people I have ever worked with. They make you feel part of their team. That’s not something you always get. We’ve been in a creative collaboration with Insomniac Games and PlayStation for over a decade now. We’ve made some of the greatest superhero games of all time and that was always the goal, making games that are timeless. I think fans are going to be excited, but I’m also really excited about it because I’m really proud of what we made. We are focused on making the best Wolverine game ever. On behalf of everyone at Insomniac Games and the Wolverine team, especially, we want to thank you for taking time to watch our trailer. We can’t wait to show you more in spring of 2026. Cool. That’s hype, man. That looks good. Looks good. I don’t trust you, son. I know what the time says. I don’t trust you. [Music] Maybe you don’t want enough. My fight will continue. That was it. That is a way to end it for sure. Had a little bit for everybody in there. I feel like that’s been kind of Sony’s MMO over the last couple of State of Plays, right? It’s not been like very focused in one one or two specific directions. They’ve had a very broad like wide spectrum. There was a lot of Japanese studio games in this one though. Like a lot. Right. Right. Exactly. Um but other than that, it was good man. That was good. Yeah, I I don’t really like Yeah, maybe because of TGS. Yeah, you’re probably right. Yeah, it was dope, man. That was good. That was fun. I I again, I don’t walk into this with very many expectations at all. The new Returnal game looks like looks just looks like Returnal. That game looks dope. And then there was that Let It Die game. That one looked pretty interesting. I even remembered the title of that one. That does not happen very often for me in these shows. I never even heard of that game before, but when that person collected like the spine Yeah, that’s that’s crazy. That’s crazy. Like like that’s that’s nuts. Like look at this. And they showed this during a broadcast. Like that’s crazy. That’s crazy. [Music] [Music]
