Assassins Creed Mirage – New FREE DLC and Update Is Amazing
How’s it going guys? Hicks here and oh boy, we have some news to go over today. Ubisoft did a DLC reveal for AC Mirage’s new DLC, The Valley of Memory, which is developed by UB Bordeaux and Paris. Plus, it is absolutely free, which is amazing. But in this video, I will break down the best parts of that stream they did. And I just want to say they’ve absolutely cooked with this. But before we crack on, if you find yourself enjoying the video, hit that like button. And if you are new here, subscribe for more Assassin’s Creed content in the near future. So, with the 2-year anniversary of Mirage, Ubisoft wanted to expand on the game with new adventures and gameplay improvements, which is why we now have the Valley of Memory DLC. I’m nearly done with Mirage, and I have to say I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far. After spending so many hours with Shadows, it is good to get back to the more linear games, and it breaks like that kind of part of the game up nicely. Well, the franchise is great, don’t get me wrong, but RPGs, that’s like a time commitment there. But games like Mirage, they’re kind of more linear. You can just sink a certain amount of hours into them and be done instead of the 2 3 4 500 hours that I’ve probably put in on Shadows. But I’m still not complaining. It’s It’s all been good. But with a new story arc, Valley of Memory will be concentrating on Basim basically coming of age with Ubisoft saying they couldn’t fit this into the original game. So this time round we will be focusing on Basim’s link to his father Isach. So it will be set just before the final events of Mirage and will bring us a deeper understanding of why Bassim chose the path that he did. The setting for this DLC is a place called Alula which has some deep history tied to it. And in true Ubisoft fashion they wanted to nail the archaeological aspect. So they worked with experts internally and externally to get the setting spot on. They did have a segment about Alula with the experts chatting about it being a heritage site and Alula being the first site inscribed into the list of UNESCO which was an interesting fact to find out to be honest. With the emphasis always on ancient sites, this will be no different with players being able to collect and read ancient scripts throughout our playthrough. And that is one thing I respect about the Assassin’s Creed games. The attention to detail around these real life sites that are steeped in so much history. Ubisoft has its faults, of course, but the player engagement around history is definitely not one of them. I can’t wait to find and read all the ancient scripts that we’re going to be finding in Alula. Honestly, I love that part of the game. Like, one of the favorite things in Valhalla was going around and just reading up on all the lore. I [ __ ] love it. So each area of Lula will have its own unique feel as well with an urban area in the south region with the old town overlooked by the ancient Musa Ibin Lucy 4. I think I pronounced that right. The town is dense with bustling streets and even features a spice market. So not far from that city is the valley’s oasis and you would expect it to be dense with foilage and full of life with canals and agriculture as well. The incense road which is what they mentioned and it’s like a real road. It runs entirely through from the south to the north of Alula and this is where we can find the most iconic and dangerous area of the DLC. Here we will discover the Necropolysis of Hegra, a huge burial site with many rock cut tombs and chambers with the northern part featuring new rock formations for us to climb as well. So any doubts about parkour can be squashed as will we be doing a lot of that. And trust me as we go further on, if you are into parkour, you’re not going to be disappointed. So, plus there will be Rocky Valleys, which will have those pesky robbers, which is a new faction, and wild animals waiting to attack us. I have to say that they have done a great job with the areas shown so far, as it captures the feel of an Assassin’s Creed game. When developers add to an already good experience, and don’t try to change that too much, it is a nice thing because as players, we just want more unique settings for us to enjoy what we already did, and this looks like we have it here. Another thing they mentioned is making it an exciting new playground for Assassin’s Creed players. Ubisoft said they embraced the specificity of Alula and its urban areas along with the wilderness and putting it at the center of the gameplay experience. They have refreshed Mirage’s gameplay mechanics with new twists to stealth parkour and assassinations. And this is to aid us as Alula will be difficult. So, they’re ramping up the difficulty a little bit and they’ve tweaked a few things just to make it a bit more bearable. So, whilst Bassim is running around, we will have that new main enemy to look out for and his name is Abyss. All they kind of said that he will be fearless. That was literally it and they showed us this little bit of concept art for him, but other than that, he’s probably just going to be the normal evil kind of bad guy that we get in most Assassin’s Creed games. There will also be new contracts, missions, and parkour challenges. And we can even turn musician by playing the oud. So that’s cool. And after playing, well, not after playing, but from the back of playing Ghost of Yote. Hey, playing that little uh instrument. That’s a that’s a nice chilled out thing to do. So hopefully might get some little perks by playing it as well. Who knows? The DLC will bring more than 6 hours of gameplay, which for a free update is really good. Not too long, but also not too short. And if most of that six hours is new story beats, I think a lot of fans will be happy with that. You can’t complain anyway because it’s free. So, one of the best additions though is the massive free update to the whole game. So, yeah, that’s exactly what you heard. They are updating everything, which is great. So, Baghdad getting a huge update along with the DLC is quite substantial. We will be able to replay the main missions, which will bring new rewards alongside improved parkour mechanics that will include new moves like free jump, plus new tool upgrades. One of the new features I’m most looking forward to is this new visual filter that paid tribute to the previous games like Origins or Odyssey. I love the way Origins looked and it’s the my favorite game so far that I’ve played and to be able to have that in Mirage is a cool feature and a feature that I wish more games would do. So, I’m going to be having that Mirage filter on and just playing. I can’t wait to put that on. The game’s new area, which is split into two parts, the north and the south, will also be very different with the north being called the land of the dead, and it will be occupied by all of the ancient ruins, and the south is the bustling, vibrant, populated city with that oasis. This will offer two very different gameplay experiences, and we’ll mix it up for the player. Some landmarks include Edifont Rock and the Alpha Rid tomb. These are the only two they showed us, but they did say there will be way more to experience. Leading on from that, they talk about the new gameplay mechanics being added like Basim’s new skills and tools. There will be three levels of upgrades which will include different choices. We have the trickster skill tree here which they showed off and we got a new skill which is engineered too. This will allow us to expand on the throwing knife and the blow dart. Putting enemies to sleep and blinding them with the smoke will be a fun addition to the game, but there’s going to be plenty of more and Ubisoft obviously wants to keep them under wraps. So, we get to experience it for the first time when we come to play in November. The parkour upgrade looks really nice as well. We’ve got manual jump, meaning we can jump whenever, wherever. And I really like that change with a new area being more rock formed in the north. This will add much needed fluidity. So, that’s that’s really cool. Just giving the player more choice. There will also be a new version of eject called free eject. This means you can eject in the same way, but you don’t need a hanging point, meaning no more restrictions. There will also be controller presets, so you can play with the new style or the original. Plus, there was a load of other options in there. Again, a nice little quality of life change. There would be the new faction, which I talked about, called the robbers in the DLC, and they are here because of the traders wealth. They will be more dirty in their antics and a bit more sneaky. And I had to say after the claws of a waji DLC, that sounds pretty good to me. I thought the claws of Aaji was a great DLC and where they varied the enemies kind of mechanics up. I really enjoyed that as well. Black box missions are back, but one of them has a little twist. So, all lips are sealed on that one. We didn’t get no more details than that. And then we got a thing called sequences. So once you complete a black box for the first time or a contract, you make them replayable. But they are also bringing challenges like do not use eagle vision or do not be detected and do not kill anyone but your main target. I like this challenges offer a different way for us to play. Plus there will be a reward of new weapons and an outfit which offers that much needed thing, an incentive to play. That is the key ingredient for a player. If you have got an incentive to do something, you’re going to do it. And it looks like Ubisoft have done that here. Along with all this is the new Animus mods, which allow us to bend the rules a little bit. This sounds really interesting as well. I kind of wish they went into more detail, but I can understand why they didn’t. And this all comes with two new difficulties in medium plus and very hard, which I like. It gives uh the player more of an option. There’s they’re also bringing like an alakart difficulty option which they said which allows you to tweak settings in like combat and stealth and again that will bring uh so much flexibility and quality of life. I really like that change but I I can’t wait to play it and see what it kind of feels like. And along with contracts and other returning features, there will be folk tales which tell us like a bit more about the local culture and the new faction bringing activity called stolen goods which if I’m going to guess that will be Bassim collecting stolen goods from them and returning them to their owners. They showed a bit of gameplay here at the end. Then you had some content creators chatting. But that was pretty much it what they went over and I have to say like I am really really impressed. Like they’ve done a really stellar job on this. They’ve included a lot and for free, please. I don’t want to see no one moaning about this. This update is seeming like it’s going to be a really top tier update. I am hyped. I hope you’re hyped. Please let me know what you think down in the comments below, guys. What are you most looking forward to about the DLC and the update that’s coming to Mirage? But that is the end of the video. And as always, if you have enjoyed the video, please hit that like button.
