Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection – The DLC That We Need | Gold & N64 Trilogy
Welcome back everyone. Scotty Combat here and we are officially just about 3 weeks away from Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection being fully available. Feels pretty cool to say it that way. We’re less than a month away now. We’re almost 3 weeks away. But what I want to talk about in this video is other titles that could make it in Legacy Collection. I say never say never. Right here’s the Starbridge and Mortal Kombat trilogy only for the N64. You can also see that Chameleon’s playing here, which is a character that’s also only exclusive to the Nintendo 64. And those uppercuts are fantastic. Now, I would be surprised if Digital Eclipse made Chameleon show up in the PS1 version that we are getting. She does show up briefly what looks to be like character biographies, but again, we won’t know anything regarding her gameplay or exclusive stages. I really want to see the N64 version make it as well. So, we got an exclusive character, an exclusive stage, we got exclusive features. There’s things in trilogy that are so much fun that is only in each version. Few reasons I want to share this is because it has been shared that it’s very unlikely we’ll get any N64 ports. Whereas I’m on the side of never say never because they did share if there’s enough interest they would love to have the conversation about having other games put on here. I know some people don’t like the idea of DLC games being put onto this pack. But as I’ve shared many times, I mostly play online. I know a lot of people are going to play online. If it becomes available, I’m sure a lot of people will get it if they really enjoy this collection. I just want to see this collection grow either way. whether that does come in DLC or if we have to wait until volume 2. I just want to see these games and these games not just sit in the past and only be available through actually getting those consoles or if you’re lucky enough having a PC where you can go and hunt these down and play the emulations. Accessibility is a big thing and as I have seen it with many of my viewers, they don’t have access to a lot of the old school Mortal Kombat games. Look, that’s not to say they don’t have any access to the old school games, but it does take some leg work. I’ve seen people in the comments try to find out how, and I definitely want to help. I mean, Fight Cade is a great alternative to Legacy Collection if you can’t afford it or if you want to experience these games before buying it. If I had to take a guess of what people want to see most in the first Legacy Collection, whether that be DLC or even the beginning of the next Legacy Collection volume, if we get one, obviously up there at number one, my prediction is Mortal Kombat Gold. There’s been so many people wanting to see gold in this legacy collection because it’s literally the last mainline game that’s not included before we go into the 3D era. I completely understand that. But with that said as well, there’s also ports for some of these games that we don’t have in this collection that I think would fit great as DLC if we’re going to build onto this collection if we get that option. Again, Digital Eclipse shared it themselves that this is a conversation that they really do want to have. I feel bad for the push back they had to go through there for a while with fans just really hating on gold not being in here. I get wanting gold in here. I really want it in here myself, especially that I’ve been playing it on Fight Cade now and I’m reexperiencing the game and there is a lot more to have fun with in here than there isn’t MK4. Not enough to where it cancels out MK4, but having some extra characters, being able to select your weapons, having a few extra stages, these things are really nice. It’s like an expansion pack to Mortal Kombat 4. or in other words, it’s the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 4. And in regards to further DLC, more ports that people want to see in here is like Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 being available for the Sega inside of Legacy Collection. I would say those are the probably top three most requested DLC right now. That’s reasonable. I’m not counting 3D era. I’m not counting the NRS era. This is all within the timeline of what we’re getting in the legacy collection. That would be Mortal Kombat Gold. That would be Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the N64. And that is because you get exclusives. You get the female chameleon, you get star bridge, you get the 3v3 mode, and that’s honestly one of the most crucial ones for me is the 3v3 mode. Last night, I had an amazing opportunity to go down to the CKK, which is the Cincinnati Combat Classic, and compete against other players in N64 Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Now, I hadn’t played N64 Trilogy in decades. I did have a little time to warm up before going into the matches. My god, these people that play know what the hell they’re doing, but they’ve also been coming back to this event year after year, and I see why. So, I’m throwing a plug out there real quick. If you haven’t heard of the CKK and you would like to attend it, if it’s somewhat attainable to you to make it to these events, that’s once a year where you can play the classic Mortal Kombat games and it goes on all weekend from Friday, Saturday, Sunday. They’re running the classic Mortal Kombat games. There’s cash prizes for first, second, and third. I went in there for the experience of it, but I want to loop this back into Legacy Collection. Now, Digital Eclipse did share they’re not going to pander towards the competitive scene. They pretty much summed it up as that core audience of Mortal Kombat already knows how to bring it together, which is true. It’s amazing what you can see people put together with what’s available for these games. Here’s the nice thing about Trilogy for N64 is you don’t have to worry about any boss characters in the tournament. And it’s honestly not just the tournament. If you do online matches, you don’t have to worry about people choosing boss characters. Now, let me go ahead and say this. I am pro PS1 over N64 trilogy. I love having as much variety as possible. What I’m batting for now is the games that we could see as DLC. I got PS1 Trilogy. I couldn’t be more excited because they went ahead and cut the Shang Tsung load times as well. This is a really solid roster. The two characters right there that you can unlock through the menu that’ll be available for the rest of the time, which they could just go ahead and make that feature available anyway, is Human Smoke and Female Chameleon. The biggest reason I want to see this on there, not because bosses aren’t available, because I still think it’s going to be fun to play against people that choose bosses, because there is ups and downs, but because there is a 3v3 mode in the N64 version of Trilogy. I really don’t think we’re going to see this version in the PS1 version of Trilogy. People already got a chance to play Trilogy at EVO, and that option just didn’t seem like it was available. Now, if they were to pull back the curtain and surprise us, that would be great, but it just doesn’t seem like we’re getting that feature. However, I don’t say that with any complaint because the game wasn’t intended to have a 3v3. The thing they did best was improve a quality of life by reducing load times. Now, of course, there’s always going to be the group of people that just prefer to play the games offline as well, and that’s fine. But I do anticipate a lot of people are going to play this online just to try it out and get into some friendly fights. I know myself that I can’t wait to play with many of you that are looking to play with some people online as well. I love Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Whether it is on PS1, whether it is on N64, UMK3, Mortal Kombat Gold, I could go into all the classic games. They’re all fun to play. This was the screen I was used to seeing last night when I competed. You got MK two on two, 3v3 again, which is the N64 exclusive. And then you have eight player combat as well, which is geared towards people playing in tournament matches, but they’re only one fight matches. So, it’s nice that it sets up the brackets for you, but it doesn’t really set it out like most tournaments do where you’re going to do like a first to two or first to three before putting someone else in the next bracket. Here’s why I prefer 2v2 or 3v3 when it comes to playing trilogy is because these matches go by really quick. You got run mechanics. You can do 40% damage combos pretty quick. Modern Mortal Kombat games, you really don’t have the 2v2 or 3v3 aspect of it, minus Mortal Kombat 9, but of course, that is a gem that hopefully we’ll be seeing soon. And whether that’s a re-release or a remaster, I hope we get that in some capacity soon. But right now, it looks like they’re starting from the beginning and working their way back up. So, I’m just putting my attention towards what we’re getting now and what we could see. Right. So, with as fast as these matches go, it’s so nice to be able to kill an opponent and then have another fighter come out, knock them out, they may knock one of yours out, and they still have another one in the bank. However, they’re not lasting a long time. A 3v3 does take a little bit of time. Depending on how a fight goes, it feels like a 3v3 is roughly around the same match of a regular modern Mortal Kombat match, except you do have some nice switch ups because you’re both picking between multiple different characters. Again, I’m just so happy we’re at least getting Trilogy for PS1 because we’ve never got a re-release for Trilogy in a 2v2. That’s nice. At least we’re getting that. But having a 3v3 would be the icing on the cake. If we can get this as DLC, I’ll be really happy. If we get gold, I’ll be really happy. or at the very least in the next Legacy Collection volume. I don’t want to see these ports in specific, that is the N64 ports, at the very least trilogy or Mortal Kombat Gold in its entirety since it’s only available for Dreamcast, get left behind because Legacy Collection has the potential to be the all-in-one game that we all want to enjoy, especially for tournaments. I know they’re not gearing it for tournaments, but there’s already so much in here that it makes it so convenient and nice for anyone hosting a tournament. It’s nice not to have to bring out so many different consoles and controllers. The setup’s going to be a lot easier when you have everything just right there available. And this isn’t even speaking just tournaments. How nice is this going to be when you’re playing with friends and family? And this is the obvious, but on your own terms, how nice is it going to be to have all these games available in one place? I feel like some of the most popular picks are going to be Mortal Kombat Gold and 64 Trilogy and UMK3 for the Sega. And I’m cool with that. Actually, these are the ones I want the most. Maybe there is one that’s more popular than one of those three that I’m just not aware of. The exciting thing not to forget is that we are getting WaveNet UMK3, which is going to be a new version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. No, we’re not going to see boss characters in there, but maybe it might be the new competitive standard for UMK3. If so, we do have that to look forward to, whether it be just playing online with friends, ourselves, or in tournaments. Now, if WaveNet UMK3 has a 3v3, that’s going to be amazing. If they can make the N64 happen, that could bring so many more possibilities. We can see Mortal Kombat 4 from N64 and Legacy Collection. We can see Sub-Zero Mythologies in Legacy Collection through N64. Again, these are more ports that are possibly available for Legacy Collection. That is specifically through the N64. And at least this gives us a chance to play as Goro, where it sounds like that’s not really possible in the arcade version. This was more of a home console thing. Now, as far as ports available, I’ll say we already have a healthy portion through Sega, Nintendo, PlayStation 1. Aside from Mortal Kombat Gold, the thing I would like to see next is Nintendo 64 ports. What would you like to see? Would you rather see more DLC for Legacy Collection before moving on to the 3D era if we get a volume 2? Or do you just hope it does well enough and maybe there’s not enough demand for more DLC for the first volume and that we already work towards the second volume? I’m also looking to run a Mortal Kombat 1 tournament here soon before Legacy Collection drops. If you’re interested, drop a comment down below. And that’s all for this one, my friends. I will see you all live and or in the next video. Much love, everyone, and take care.
In this video I’m sharing the games that would be the best DLC options for Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection. There has been high demand for Mortal Kombat GOLD to be released in the kollection, however many fans think N64 would make a great fit too — and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been playing GOLD on fightcade and I’m fresh off a Trilogy Tournament that was ran on N64 and it was a blast. These titles will only do great things for Legacy Kollection, whether DLC or next volume.
