WWE 2K25 Farewell Tour DLC Worth it? (First Impressions)

2K25’s Farewell Tour DLC has dropped. We’re going to go through the whole thing, what you get, the price, and impressions, and if it’s worth it to you. Welcome to Assemble. My name is Matt. So, let’s talk about this pack. Every single year with 2K, they have been giving us these different DLC packs, different editions of the game that come out very much towards the tail end of the year. We’ve done this with the Wyatt and Bad Bunny, and we’re now getting John Cena. I do like that they have done a farewell tour pack. You’re getting with the John Cena custom cover here, which I do really like. And you’re getting a decent amount of content for the price, but we’ll talk about whether it’s worth it or not, too. And what do you think? The playable characters, you got Brock Lesnar. He’s back in 2K25. He’s had a little bit of time off, but he is back. And we’ll talk about Brock and how it all shakes out for him. Ron Cena is in there, too. Mr. Our Truth. You have John Cena, doctor of Thuggonomics. You have John Cena for Wrestlemania 41 as well. In the farewell tour pack, you’re also getting five different farewell t-shirts in the creation suite for you to be able to access and use on John Cena or whoever you feel like. And you get 15,000 VC included depending where you live. If you’re in the US, this is $14.99. If you’re in Canada like Matt here, it’s 20 bucks to be able to get the Farewell Tour Edition DLC as it stands on its own. Yes, you can buy it separately then from the rest of the editions of the game. If you want the fullblown edition, the farewell tour edition, maybe you are somebody who’s like, I wait till the very end of the year, the game cycle, then I pick it up and I get everything and maybe at a discount with this farewell tour edition, you’re paying a hefty price. The entire game is going to be $1.99 Canadian beaver dollars. If you get it in the US, it’s about $149.99 and that’s everything. what you see in the Bloodline edition, the Dead Man edition, the standard edition, all of it is in there, plus the Farewell Tour content, all wrapped into one. $199 Canadian. That’s a lot. My two cents with the pricing, the packaging for this, it’s an interesting one because I went into the PlayStation store. I didn’t check Xbox, but I I checked PlayStation for you. And again, in Canada, at least for me, there’s a discount right now on the Bloodline Edition. The Bloodline Edition in Canada, it’s 50% off. It’s like 86 bucks to be able to get it. And I pretty sure it would be the same thing reflected in the US store. So, if you have not yet gotten 2K25 and you do want to have it all, I would get the Bloodline Edition and then just buy the Farewell Tour Pack separately and then you’re good. So, getting this whole thing for the low low price of well over $100, I I don’t think that’s worth. I would definitely be hunting for a discount, a sale, and then add the DLC if you really want it. But 15,000 VC is like $5. So, there’s a lot to discuss here whether the value is there for you. So, let’s talk about Brock Lesnar. He’s back. Positive is that they’ve added Brock back into the game this late into the cycle. So, I give 2K the props for not putting him into next year’s game behind DLC pack number two or three just to get Brock. They put him in here and yes, it is part of this DLC. Does make you think he’s going to be in next year’s game and in the base game cuz that’s typically how the DLC rolls is that whatever is DLC this year is base game next year. Brock, you got cowboy Brock. Now, his look I really do like. I think it’s nice that it’s completely updated. You got the cowboy hat. You got the vest, you got Brock jeans, you got Brock shirt. It’s a Brock’s doing Brock things. One thing that I find helps is the lighting. And that’s not the model, that’s the game doing it. But I do like all the reflections and lighting, the sweat, all that stuff. It does make Brock’s character model look very good, much more polished. When I look back at 2K23, I think it was just comparing them again. Outdated graphics, older game. Yes, Brock looks much more washed out. Probably at the time I would have said Brock’s model looks amazing. But it’s definitely looking a lot better here. A little bit more aged, weathered in the skin. He’s got more wrinkles. He’s more tired. It’s like matte right now. But he’s got the nice big beard and he’s got the Brock hair, longer hair. So, I think that they totally nailed the model. The entrance is exactly the same as before. I haven’t noticed a difference, but it seems to be the one from the previous games. And that’s fine. I wish they would have tweaked something. I understand that Brock has been back for one match at Wrestle Palooa. We still got nothing else from Brock Lesnar at this point. I get that you’re not really gonna change up his entrance. It’s a Brock entrance. He still does the big thing with the big entrance with the pyro. So, it’s all very much the same. So, what is there really to change, right? I would have liked it if maybe they had tweaked some of the camera angles, but you also have free roam camera now, so you can kind of do it yourself. Here’s the other downside and negative I will say about this and what puzzles me. Uh, you get cowboy Brock Lesnar. That’s the only attire you get. We don’t get an inring attire for Brock Lesnar having a match. So, they went as far as to give him street wear, but we we didn’t even get Brock and just his shorts. Obviously, just go to community creations, download your favorite version of Brock Lesnar from any one of the amazing creators out there. And then you could just go to the Brock Lesnar in-game version of him. Go into create a superstar, click Brock, and then select import attire after you have downloaded one from community creations you like and you can import it and then it’s just a copy paste situation and now you have Brock Lesnar in regular gear. So it is not a huge deal. It is not a big hangup, but it is something where I’m like you couldn’t just do a second slot where you’re like here’s Brock’s in ring gear from the previous game. Like I don’t get what the hangup is. Also, I don’t know for sure. I tried scanning through shorts and attires, but I didn’t see any Brock Lesnar attire there. I’m sure those are his shorts that are found in Creation Suite, but for logos and everything, like they don’t have just the Brock Lesnar shorts. You got to make them or download them. So, go download them. Support creators, all that. It’s good. Brock’s move set, signatures, the F5 for finishers. It’s all the same from the previous years. I thought it for a second I was like, “Oh, is this a slightly different F5?” No, it seems to be just exactly the same as before. Super finisher. He’s got the top rope moons, so that’s kind of cool. So, next we have Ron Cena. You got our truth in there and he’s fully decked out in the Ron Cena attire that he wore at Saturday Night’s main event in the match against John Cena. I like that they added this in. It makes sense for the farewell tour edition. Is it anything groundbreaking and like must-have? Not to me, only because it’s it’s just our truth in the John Cena gear. Also, they didn’t take it any step further to give us any type of tweaked entrance, like a more custom Arc Truth Ron Cena entrance. It’s the John Cena entrance from the game. It’s that motion and they put the John Cena move set on him. That’s it. So, I think that this is kind of a missed opportunity where they could have had a little bit more fun and motion captured Ron Cena doing different motions like doing the John Cena stuff but making it more our truth style if that makes sense. Just a little bit of a hybrid. It would have felt more authentic if they just added a little bit more to it. Even tried to maybe recreate a different attitude adjustment. something that’s got just the slight slightest variation on it to make you feel like oh this is unique. This is something fresh. This just feels very copy paste of hey let’s just give you our truth and he’s in John Cena gear and that is going to be a main theme here at least to me is you don’t have to spend the money on this. You could save it and it’ll go on sale or it’s going to be in next year’s game most likely. Big selling point is probably Brock. But we do have Dr. Thuganomics John Cena. I love this model. I think this model looks great. I love that I got the Trons and the entrance theme song there, too. So, it’s all fitted to Doctor of Thuggonomics John. We had this in the previous John Cena edition of the game for 2K. Was it 23? Was it John Cena one? Where you had all the different versions of John Cena in the game. So, now we got another one. And then the five farewell tour shirts that are found in Creation Suite. I like this. I like be able to have these that they’ve uploaded this. It’s a nice little touch. Then, of course, Wrestlemania 41 version John Cena. This was probably the best. Like out of everything in this pack that I enjoy so far. It’s this and it’s Brock Lesnar. Go figure. But I like this version of Jon that they put in the game. Little more updated. The attire, the trrons, the emotion itself as well. Standard emotion coming to the ring is great. It’s very much John Cena Wrestlemania. I got heel version John Cena in there. Plus, if you go and give him a championship belt, like I gave him the Undisputed title, it’s really nice to see that they did it where Jon is wearing the belt backwards and he’s got a full custom entrance motion for that. So, it’s a really nice touch for this for Wrestlemania 41 version of Cena. So, what do you think of the pack though? Overall, there is potentially a patch that is going to come out maybe even later today or this week to tie in with the DLC. What’s in there, we don’t know. So, by the time maybe you watch this, maybe there has been a patch that drops and you’re like, “Matt, there’s a patch. You got to check it out.” I will check it out. For me, the wins here are Brock and Mania 41. John Cena. Ron Cena is fine. Dr. Thuggonomics is fine as well. It’s good. And you got $5 worth of VC. You can go into my faction right now and it’ll help boost up your VC a little bit if you have any extras in there. Like me, it helped me push me over to like 25 30,000 in VC, which helped. So now I could get a Persona card, at least one of the cheaper ones that have been out for a while like Roman Reigns or The Rock or John, another version of John Cena. I could get those with the additional VC. That could also help you if you’re somebody who wanted to get Goldberg Nikki Bella from the island. The Goldberg Nikki Bella DLC pack is 50,000 VC. It’s like $20 US and closer to 30, like 27 bucks I think Canadian, almost 30 to get the Goldberg Nikki Bella DLC. I’m not saying you’re close, but the 15,000 VC might help you get you a little bit closer if you already had some in the piggy bank. And then you might be able to afford the Goldberg DLC if that’s something you’re interested in. Then we can recreate matches like Brock versus Goldberg, Wrestlemania 20. I know they fought after that, but 20 is just horrific and it’s fun to do those matches. And as I said earlier, if you can get like the Bloodline Edition, if you’re still holding out, maybe even have the standard edition and you’re like, I’m looking at some of the DLC. I’m interested. Maybe that’s what I want to do. I would probably look at different sales that are going on and see if you can get like the Bloodline version, like I said, and then add the Farewell Tour Edition DLC. Is it worth it? I mean, that’s up to you. I’m always an advocate for save your money and wait. Just don’t go and blow it all if you’re just kind of mediocre and mayon. If it doesn’t interest you, don’t do it. save your cash. But if it is something where you’re like, I’m a completionist. I want to have everything in the game. I’m a huge John Cena fan. I want to take advantage of having Wrestlemania 41 version of John. I really want Brock Lesnar in the game. If you’re very excited about those two things, then that might sway you to go and spend the money, spend 15, 20 bucks to be able to get this. I think that if they didn’t add the VC in there, obviously that’s the equivalent of about $5. You take that out and if you told me it was 15 bucks for the John Cena DLC and I say Canadian so like 10 bucks US that I think would have been more attractive. I think if you’re someone in the US and majority of you watching are I think if you told us that it was $9.99 for the DLC pack I think that would have been a much better deal. I am a little surprised that they did not just go with like it’s $30, it’s $40 for this DLC. So I’m glad I’m not just getting ripped left and right. That’s that’s a refreshing change right now in this economy. So I I don’t know if it’s necessarily worth it for everyone. I think if you are that big John Cena fan, something to look at. If you’re somebody who really wanted to have Brock Lesnar this year, you could get him now. However, you’re probably going to be able to get Brock next year into next year’s game. So, if you are someone who plays occasionally or periodically, it’s kind of cool, but you could probably hold out and by, you know, March, if they’re going to drop 2K26, there’s a very good chance that Brock’s in that game and then he could save a few dollars. Is there anything to do differently here? In my eyes, yeah, just a couple of things for the price and the value, and that’s debatable. I would have included some kind of commemorative John Cena Championship like they got in the WWE shop. You have the farewell tour t-shirts that they’ve added in. You know what it would have been a nice touch is add in those farewell championships into the game or have the championship belts that go with the t-shirts that they added into Creation Suite. And I would have also maybe added in additional attire pieces to go with the farewell tour if they weren’t going to give me, let’s say, CM Punk. We had the Cena Punk match this year and I really liked it and I even like the Punkconomics that we got in that whole segment and then you had Cena doing his version of the pipe bomb. It would have been really nice and they probably couldn’t do it cuz I think Punk was in Chicago Cubs gear so you couldn’t get the license for the Cubs. But if they were able to do a blue pinstripe jersey and all the punk stuff that he wore during that promo segment, it would have been cool if they just added that in the creation suite on top of the t-shirt so that you could put it on punk and then you have that cuz I understand they wouldn’t have time or put together, you know, this version of CM Punk dressed in the punkomic gear all kind of rushed in there, but you did Ron Cena. So, I think if they just did maybe a few of the attire pieces, Randy Orton’s gear that he wore during the Backlash match, for example, Cody Rhodess’s other gear that he wore at Mania at SummerSlam, you know what I mean? You could have done a little bit more there. And I also look at arenas. It would have been nice if they did more arenas in this pack. Although, if they do all this, you know, they’d probably say, “Well, we got to charge more.” But for that price point, I would have appreciated if we got an extra arena. Backlash. Randy Orton versus John Cena. the latest SummerSlam, but I get it. They would want to hold that stuff off for next year and then it comes into the new game. That’s the Farewell Tour edition.
