are the Dark Souls 2 DLC’s any good?
Another day, another Dark Souls II live stream. The uh amount of times that I’ve said that I give up on this game and yet I continue to uh come back to it is uh crazy. Now the the the reason why I’m coming back to it is because uh I’m so autistic that um I cannot simply let go and uh give up on trying to complete this game. I instead like if if if I was to just like not complete the game, I would not feel um good basically is is what it is. It it like hangs over my mind. It’s like when you’re a kid and you’ve got unfinished homework a and like you know that you’re supposed to finish it so you’re not actually able to like enjoy yourself doing whatever playing video games doing whatever. Um because you have that in the back of your mind that you haven’t completed you haven’t done what you’re supposed to do. That’s how I feel in uh with with Dark Souls I right now. like I can’t move on to like Demon Souls. I can’t think straight because uh I know that I haven’t finished this game. So, what I’m doing right now is trying to access the crown of the old Iron King DLC because I tried uh so I I I played a little bit of uh Crown of Sunken King, but then I had a meltdown live on stream because the game was annoying me because uh one of the bosses that the game decides to throw at you is just three NPCs cuz why And so uh it was yeah very oh [ __ ] it was very annoying that fight and I rage quit the stream like yeah so I rage quit the stream because this encounter was really annoying me but then I decided to once again not be a quitter. and not give up. And so I actually uh completed the whole DLC off stream. Well, that guy ganked me cuz this game loves to do that. So, I completed the entire DLC of off stream, which I feel kind of bad about because I mean, if I’m streaming this game, I should probably be, you know, streaming all the content that I can, especially considering the fact that the, you know, while while the uh while the triple NPC encounter was like [ __ ] ass, [ __ ] ass, whatever you want to call it, it was annoying and bad and just awful. and not fun. The other two bosses were actually quite good. Elana, the squalid queen, the um lady with the scythe that teleports all around spawns the abs and that. She was good. And Sin, the slumbering dragon, that was actually like that was lowkey a peak fight. As peak as um Dark Souls 2 bosses can be. I mean, it was a dragon. It’s hard to It’s hard to make a dragon boss fight bad. See the scaleless, but um yeah, it was like lowkey peak for Dark Souls 2 standards. It um I mean obviously it wasn’t no Dark Eater Midyear. It wasn’t even as good as Calamit, which was, you know, Dark Souls 1 DLC, but it was still uh good. So, I kind of I’m kind of beating myself over up over the fact that Wait, did I not light this bonfire? Like, what? Oh, no. It’s a primal bonfire, so you can’t uh whatever. Yeah. So, this is it. Right. So, this will probably teleport me to the uh DLC, right? So, yeah, the DLC, other than that [ __ ] boss fight that made me rage quit, it’s actually pretty good. All right, now where’s the bonfire at? Turn somewhere far away. Weakness confidence. Okay, billion messages as always. I actually do like the messages in Dark Souls 2. I’ve noted this. I noted this earlier that the uh like some time ago that the messages in uh the messages in Dark Souls 2 are pretty funny compared to like Dark Souls 1. I mean, there was a few funny ones in Dark Souls 1, but they were mostly just like guides. These ones are Yeah. quite funny. Dark Souls 2 is such a goated community, I guess. So, this is Crown of the Old Iron King. Let’s see what Oh, foggate immediately. Better not be a boss fight. Ah, this is a cinematic reveal. Very pretty. Gorgeous view ahead. Yeah. Now, this is just something I keep repeating myself saying it over and over. Not recommending it after it went live. Yeah. I don’t know why it keeps doing that. You got to click the notification bell. But yeah, I mean, Dark Souls 2 is beautiful. So, uh, so I can’t, uh, ever knock that ambush ahead. Wow. It’s going to be an invaded or something cuz it’s Dark Souls 2 and you can never have nice anything nice in Dark Souls 2, right? Please. Oh, wow. Thank you. Broom tower. All right. Always better than nothing in this. So, yeah. Okay. So, this is our first bonfire. Nice. Five bonfires. Damn. Actually skipped a bonfire in uh Sunken King. I don’t know how the hell I managed that, but okay. We got enemies, right? enemies. Sure. Yeah. An enemy with a cold tag. Impossible. It must be that per must have been that person then. Nadelia bride of ash or whatever. Okay. So, yeah, like I said, this uh DLC better be better be peak. Yeah. So, uh I was just saying that before you actually uh before uh you joined here that Sen was actually peak as far as Dark Souls 2 bosses can go. obviously not as good as uh dexterity ring wasn’t as good as like uh oh yes by the way I I did a bit of soul farming that’s why I have all these giants I did the giant lord route um yeah like as far as uh as far as Dark Souls I bosses are concerned yeah he was pretty pretty peak Did he crack a tier? No, because um he wasn’t as good as like he wasn’t even better than Calam, you know, he wasn’t even he wasn’t even that good, which you would expect from a sequel to have, you know, better bosses, but uh no. I mean, like if we’re talking just like Dark like Dark Souls 2, he’s like probably a tier. Yeah. But like comparing him to other bosses, no. Comparing him to like other games, but I’d say he was like a very good Dark Souls 2 boss. That makes sense. Now, apparently what I’ve heard is that the boss fight in this one of the boss fights in I’ve heard that you know um what’s his face? Fume Knight, the boss in this DLC. He’s supposed to be like Peak. So, I guess we’ll ass message. Ambush ahead. Oh dear. So, yeah, I um Yeah, best boss of DS2. Yeah, that’s what I heard. We’ll see. if I actually get to him because you know this is Dark Souls 2 where the world is a boss. So I’ll probably rage quit about 10 times before I even get to fume night. But hey, maybe it won’t be that bad. We’ll see. Oh, it’s another one of those things. Yeah. inevitable crash out. I feel like a [ __ ] idiot whenever I crash out over DS2, man. [Music] Scythe plus seven. Okay, that sounds pretty good. Yeah, it doesn’t look as fun to play and it isn’t to uh be blunt. It doesn’t look as fun and it isn’t as fun to play as DS1. Okay. Like Dark Souls 1 obviously has a ton of [ __ ] [ __ ] cuz you know it’s Dark Souls 1, but it’s like cute and like excuable. You know what I mean? Like oh it was their first little Well, it wasn’t their first game. Not even their first Souls game, but it was like, you know, like a they’re they’re they’re they’re making a game. They’re trying. They’re being cute. But with this game, it’s like come on. It’s the sequel. Like you got to you got to lock in for the sequel, but it feels like uh a ton of soul. Yeah, a ton of dark soul, if you will. Now, I could have probably backstabbed him there. I’m scared of getting too close to that effigy thing cuz I don’t have that whatever wedge that you need. Smelter wedge, whatever it was called. Can you backstab these bloss? I don’t know. Oh [ __ ] Also, the weapon I ended up having to use for the trio was a spear. So, I have a plus 9 Heidi spear. Also, I ended up farming a ton of souls, so I’m level [ __ ] 223 trying to justify damage and commitment stuff. Yeah, I mean, I I like I get it. I guess I understand it, but it’s still just [Music] like I get trying to prioritize realism, but I don’t know. I mean, for all the [ __ ] I do on Dark Souls 2, it’s not a bad game. Like, honestly, like this is me speaking with a sober mind. Trying to speak with a sober mind before I, you know, before the crashs begin. Like, Dark Souls is obviously not a bad game, but it’s just not what you expect. out of a Dark Soul. I don’t know if you’re supposed to be doing this, by the way. I hope so. Yeah, the art design does carry it. Like, the art is the most the the best part of this game. Like, it looks [ __ ] beautiful. Obviously, like Majula and all that. absolutely goatated. So, you know, there are good elements of this game. I just it’s uh it’s kind of difficult to love. And yeah, Dragon Lake Castle did look cool as well. Yeah, especially the outside of it was so [ __ ] like imposing and scary looking, which I liked. And I like how, you know, you can see it at the very start. like from modul this giant tower. Oh, this is what I’m supposed to. Um, okay. You’re throwing going to be throwing battles, aren’t you? Well, the message did say try projectiles, so that’s my bad. Yeah, I’m throwing for content. Now, now I know that when I went upstairs there, there was two paths and I went right instead of left. I guess we’re just going to keep going this way. Oh, must as well be cinema for later. So that’s going to be a bit of a challenge. Okay. And like this would be bad enough if it was just these guys, but then you have to have ranged enemies. So, basically, it was worthless trying to patty the uh NPC trio boss fight. That was that was fun. What fun that was. Oh, okay. The only time you get eye frames, literally the only time you get eye frames in this game is when you get [ __ ] slammed to the ground by some [ __ ] ass attack. Like when a big attack slams you to the ground and takes a quarter of [ __ ] health. That’s the only time you get eye frames. More than quarter. The uh the the what happens with Dark Souls II is you like this is literally what happened in the last DLC. I I gave it a compliment. I [ __ ] said I said, “Wow, it’s kind of nice here. I kind of like it.” And then immediately it hit me with the [ __ ] NPC trio boss fight. And this is what what’s happening in this in uh this DLC as well. I was being positive. I was being like, “Yeah, this is kind of cool. This is I I low key like the way this this looks and like the level design and stuff like that.” I was thinking that. I was probably saying that and then it gives you an awesome [ __ ] room like this. Like God like just [ __ ] the flame thing is like buffing the mobs. The problem isn’t them being buffed. The problem is there being a [ __ ] million of them. Everything two shots you. But okay, let’s try and let’s try and put the wedge in the thing. And the stamina management is so like ass. It feels so ass to have to do cuz like every attack drains like a third of your stamina. So you have to be very careful and methodical and oh fume sorcerer. And then let me guess, it’s probably not even going to be that good. It’s just going to be like dude in armor, but it’s going to be like nothing compared to like Artorius or even like Orinstein and Smoke cuz it’s Dark Souls 2.
