NBA 2K25 Gameplay: Philadelphia 76ers vs Phoenix Suns – (Xbox Series X) [4K60FPS]

And the players going through their game preparation, making sure they’re fully warmed up for the tip. Welcome and good evening. We welcome you to our Monday night broadcast of the NBA here on 2K Sports. In this game, we’ll see the Phoenix Suns against the Philadelphia 76ers, joined by Richard Jefferson and Greg Anthony. I’m Kevin Har. David Aldridge is with us on the sidelines. And this is what the schedule looks like coming up for Phoenix. On Wednesday, they’ll take on Kevin Love and the Miami Heat. And then on Friday, they’ll be taking on Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks. And looking at the Utah matchup, that one might be worth keeping an eye on. It’s always a great match up when those two face off. Look at the 76ers starting group out there with Andre Drummond. Then there’s Tyrese Maxi. Then there’s Kelly Ubé and it’s Grimes in at the shooting guard. And for the Suns, deadly backcourt pair of Booker and Beal. Durant is out there with Martin. And it’s Richards in at the five. Greg, we’re sure to see a lot of quality basketball here tonight given the veteran talent on both sides. Yeah, tremendously high IQ’s from both teams. So, expect a clean game and some of these players have been through it all in this league. Now, here’s Maxi. Six to shoot. I see him. I see him. The shot goes in. First shot, first basket. Oh, Maxi showing off the handles and so Booker will bring it up for Phoenix to the inside and stolen by Drummond. An even threeon three break. Grimes with the bucket. Great teamwork punctuated by a strong finish. Yeah, that’s nice execution. Running with purpose and creating an easy scoring opportunity off the break. Now here’s Durant. Pass to Richard. Some nice ball movement here by the Suns. Be and the jam by And there’s that creativity from Bo when he’s in flight. Boy, he’s going to show you something special on our AT&T 5G Slam Cam. You just saw an explosive highlight. And here’s Maxi. He had 15 points last hour. Here’s Grimes. He’s covered by Be. They set the pick. Uber left side. Pass to Grimes. Shoots over Beal. The rebound by Richards. See that miss? That miss right there. It’s why teams try to avoid the mid-range jumper these days. 76ers have gone. Two of three here to start out the game. Here’s Drummond. Passes to Ubé. Maxi against Booker. Maxi kicks to Ubra and it’s off from three-point range. So for Phoenix, their last game, a win against the Trailblazers. Greg in the process to bring in all their stars. The Suns don’t have a lot of ways to add players in the near future. Yeah, they don’t control their draft picks for the next few years. That was part of the price for Beal and Durant. They’ll have to be very shrewd to add rotation pieces to help them win. Now here’s Drummond following the shot by Kevin Durant. Takes a three. The rebound by Richard and so is Durant with it. He’ll bring it up for Phoenix. Trailing by two. And guys, this is the first they’re seeing Philadelphia this agile move by Beal to beat that inside contact. Philadelphia’s gone 0 of two from deep here. Getting the latest now from our sideline reporter David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away. Kevin, I did speak with Mike Putin Holder for a few minutes. He thinks Tyrese Maxi is a guy they have to watch. Said he reads the floor well and understands situational basketball. Defensively, it’s tough to speed him up or slow him down. He really plays at his own pace. Thank you, David. And timeout is called by Mike Benhoer. He is going to have a discussion here on the sideline. You have the camera on you. You must do it at home. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. While we have the time, let’s take a look at last season’s best transition teams. Fifth on the list, the 76ers. I mean, this is such a tough team to deal with. You see the numbers. They would just push the ball at every opportunity. The Suns trailing. KD vicious to Martin. Back to KD. The baseline J and he nails the jumper. This is how smart Durant is. Able to break defenses apart in screen rolls like it’s nothing. Taxi passes to Drummond. Passile. Maxi with it. Now guarded by Booker and the basket is good. Maxi Maxi’s got his second bucket. That is fierce. You want to see a player with no fear? That is Tyreek’s Maxi with a screen on Maxi. No good from Booker for Philadelphia. They’ve gone four of seven from the field shooting over 50%. Here’s Grimes defended by Booker. Here’s Grimes. Shot clock at six. The 76ers need to get off a shot. Trains it from beyond the arm. A legitimate sniper from distance. Love seeing Ubé Jr. shoot it with such precision. Harden against UB. Back to Booker and stolen by Drummond. And now Philadelphia on the break. Shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. Frank is a player. How long does the excitement of a new season last? I’d say it starts to wear off right about now. You got to start bringing your own motivation to every game and you need to provide your own energy. free throw. Good uber. And what about the evolution of Tyrese Maxi? Uh, Greg, according to him, he’s just getting started. Well, Kevin, I’d have to agree. I mean, he’s got some big shoes to fill with James Harden leaving, but each year this guy has just gotten better. And not only has he matched Harden’s production in Philadelphia, I think he’s exceeded it. and Nick Nurse Greg the 26th head coach in 76ers franchise history and Kevin known for his creativity and that outside the box thinking I think it’s a good fit with this forward thinking front office nailed from three-point land’s got seven points of 76ers leading by four passes to Drummond down Low Ubé finds Maxi and two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the content. It goes on Deon B. Talk about a guy who can completely take over. Tyrese Max. Oh, I love his energy. I love his focus. I love his love for the game. He is relentless. What’s amazing is that there’s still so much upside there, Kevin. First free throw is good. This team has handed a lot of responsibility to Tyrese Maxi, but Greg, he’s lived up to it and has grown very well into his role with the team. Shown that he can be a scorer all over the floor. Amazing to think how far he’s come in such a short amount of time. Maxi hits them both. And as disappointing as the Sun’s first round exit was last year, RJ, this team, I think, still has a window open. How about you? Yeah, Kevin. I’ve often said it takes teams a second year. That first year is really the adjustment period for star players. The Suns group had some growing pains in that first season. But look, this year, I think this is the year we’re going to see the best version of the Phoenix Suns. UB good. Pretty much all of their buckets coming from inside the paint now. And Phoenix has possession. Eight-point game. Hooker the basket to Durant. And that one’s good. his second basket of four shooting 50%. Yeah, even though he’s slender, Durant is good at keeping his balance through contact. The man is stronger than he looks. Edwards passes to Grimes. Beal with the steel hits and Philadelphia grabs the miss. They come into this one following the loss to the Grizzlies. Yeah, for that loss, you can credit their defense or lack thereof. Too many breakdowns on that end of the floor. Some of it was solid shooting from their opponent, but they didn’t have any teeth with their defense. Need to be more active than they were. Shot clock at five. Cryins with the bucket. And he’s not going to miss that sort of an opportunity from beat. Suns trail by nine outside KD. It’s Bele on the wing. Done outside. Pass to KD. Some nice ball movement here by the Suns. And he comes up with the deuce. We know Book can hit those deep threes, but he’s also effective around the rim. Here’s Grimes. Here’s Ubé. And it’s Phoenix with the rebound. Richard’s got his fifth rebound right now in the game. It’s Durant on the wing. Out of bounds. It’ll be 76ers ball. All right, a moment to check out stats for Durant. He’s coming off an excellent season. Fifth in scoring and a top 15 ranking in blocks per game, supplying that backline protection that is so key to a great defense. And clearly one of the dominant scorers we have in this league is top five ranking last year puts him right there in the ranks of the elite Tus Jones. He’s checked in for Phoenix. Here’s Butler. He’s coming off a 13-point game against Memphis. And we will have a timeout called by Nick Nurse. And coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. Here they come, fans. It’s your one and only Der Heat. Heat. So for the Suns Plumbley’s checked in for Nick Richards. O’Neal comes in for Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal subbed in for Tus Jones. And Philadelphia also making a switch. Yav’s checked in. Here’s Dton right side. Butler inside. Grimes passes to Butler from outside the arc. Plumbley with the rebound. Suns trail by seven. Two minutes remaining. Done left side. Past O’Neal with it. A 17-point game for him in the win against Portland. Well, Richard, during his Washington days, Bradley Beal averaged 30 a game in back-to-back season. Beal is such a strong guard. So, not only can he beat you with his shooting stroke, but he can also play some bully ball and he knocks down the first one. And while Embiid was on record praising the importance of continuity, I don’t know that Richard, the 76ers front office felt the same way. Oh yeah. What you say out loud versus your actions can be very, very different in this game. When you have a chance to go big game hunting, you do. The goal was to bring in some help for Embiid and Maxi and they accomplished it. No good on the second. So he hits one of two and with this score of the Suns in a break, you never know who is going to initiate the offense for him and that can cause problems at teams. Kevin can run you into issues keeping the ball moving. Turnovers can be their Achilles heel as well. 76ers have been solid at the Lions so far. Four for four. and the first one drops, R.J., we know that the Suns missed the playoffs for about a decade, but now they seem to be getting some traction. How do you view them? Uh, I view them as a team that’s in transition. Obviously, they have Devin Booker, the homegrown star. The guy has blossomed there in front of everyone’s eyes. And after that finals run, they’ve really been searching. He’s the last player there. But whenever you have Kevin Durant on your team, you are always on the verge of something special. And with an update from the sidelines, let’s check in with David Aldridge. Hey Kevin, despite suffering a first round sweep in last season’s playoffs, Sun’s front grass remains confident. They were mere inches from where they needed to be to compete for a title, emphasizing that chemistry is built over time and through the fire. The hope is with another year to coalesce, this team will be ready for a deeper run. Kevin, well, they’ve got the names. They got a big coach now coming in. All right, Da. Thank you. The first free throw is good. On offense, Devin Booker really does it all for his teams. He scores well and assists others. Richard, he can do it all. You love to see that from a superstar. Booker just wants points on the board. And if he can’t get a shot, he’ll get a look for someone else. And Philadelphia making a change here. Council’s checked in. on the miss. Both free throws good from Booker G. When we think about Devin Booker’s scoring ability, he always has been ahead of the curve. The youngest player ever to score 70 in a game, amongst the youngest to get to 10,000 points. Hooker is on a historic scoring pace. Now here’s Butler. Pass to Edwards. Lock at six. Here’s Dalton. Takes it inside and the ball goes out of bounds. Shot touch by P. Tus Jones is checked in for Phoenix. Number 21, Tus Jones. And they’ll turn it over. Could not get off the shot before second violation. Let’s take a look at the numbers for Beia. He had a strong showing last season, averaged about 18 points a game, five assists and four rebounds. And you look at his huge role in their offense, a major contributor as far as putting up points. He’s just a natural scorer and someone this offense leans on to help shoulder the load and lead the charge. Now here’s Jones Plumbley with a screen on Buck to the inside and it’s slammed in by Plumbley. And although he’s undersized at his position, his vertical, yeah, that’ll clean up a few mistakes. Jones against Butler. And that one drops and the 76ers lead by five. and they’ve done well at taking advantage of some late defensive rotations and getting the ball in the paint. Kicks it out to Jones. Plumbley with a screen on B. Jones. The best to Plumbley and it’s slammed in by Plumbley. And he gives that rim a good tug on the way down. That’s how you drive your point home right there. Four seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Butler against Jones. Shots good by Butler. Butler’s got his second bucket of the game to go. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. Here’s Beal and it’s Phoenix scoring again. Punch, counter punch. Impressive offensive production early on. You have to think at this point the winner will be the one to settle the defense. A good close contest so far as we finish the first quarter. 76ers on top up by three. And we’ve got more action coming your way after this break. And close game underway so far. We’ll see if either of these teams can jump out in the second quarter. And a chance to catch up on some numbers here. Scoring breakdown for the 76ers. Oh boy, they’ve been driving deep into that defense early on. And it’s paid off. Great penetration from the perimeter so far. And also they’re doing something you don’t see as much anymore and that is converting time and time again from the mid-range. Suns trail by three. Dunn is out there with Roy O’Neal. Then it’s Plumbley. Then there’s Bradley Beal and it’s Jones in at the point guard. So that’s the Suns five as we get into the second quarter. And the basket is good. Got it to go through on the contact. So a free throw coming up. Great opportunity for a three-point play. He’s made one and missed one so far in the game. And last season, he was successful 81% of the time when he went to the line. So, he didn’t waste a lot of opportunities. Mind the lanes. Mind the lanes. One shot. And that one misses. And the league giving a bit more leeway, GA to defenders. As a hard-nosed defender yourself, I’m sure you like that change. Oh, I do. I mean, we all love the intensity of playoff basketball, so why not bring a certain level of physicality to the regular season? Back to Jones. Done outside. Six to shoot. Pass to Beal. That’s in. Coming off an assist from Dun. Be’s got the lead. Up to one now for Phoenix. Here’s Yule. Edwards passes to Butler. and he drives in. That one’s all good. Now he’s three for five from the field. Used the pick to perfection and got all the way to the rim. Now here’s Beal. He’s got 14. And such a nice move to make the basket work. Be’s got the lead. Back up to one now for Phoenix. Philadelphia shooting has been just great so far, up at 56%. There’s a good screen pass. Cranes the three-pointer. Got himself going there. His first points of the game on the deep ball. And the lack of effort to fight over the screen there makes that an easy shot. Yeah, as soon as these guys feel contact, they are just disappearing like they’re not even there. You got to show some fire and keep defending. And Pablo takes to be takes the three and the three ball is good. Be’s got nine points now in the court. Be wasted no time getting those three points back. And we will have a timeout called by Nick Nurse. Wants to regroup and go over the strategy. There go your way. Heat. Heat. The Sun’s making a change here. Martin’s checked in with a stoppage in play. We have a chance now to show you which teams led the league in three-point percentage last year. The Suns fifth. Their long range game was a huge strength. They spread the floor, found the open shots, and made the most of their chances. And so here is Philadelphia. They trail by one. Pass to council. Back to Edwards. Some nice ball movement here by the 76ers. Five to shoot. Here’s Council. No good on the three for Phoenix. They’ve gone a perfect four of four since the second quarter began. Perfect from the field for Philadelphia. They’ve gone two or four shooting the ball here in the second. Butler no good. That is not a guy you want to allow opens for rain. Lucky for the defense, he just couldn’t get it to go. And from undrafted to journeyman to starter, Richard, you got to admire stories like Royce O’Neal. It’s motivational, Kevin. Just because you don’t get drafted doesn’t mean he can’t make it to the NBA, which is exactly what O’Neal has done. Be always a scoring threat, but right now we’re seeing what happens when he’s in the zone. Dton passes to Yusa to the paint. And with that shot, the Suns lead is cut down to just one on the basket from Butler. Just a textbook lead pass right there, putting it right where it needed to be. Be taking his time here. Up and in on the lane. Be’s got the lead. Back up to three now for the Suns. Look, they are in front right now because of him. He keeps draining these shots at a ridiculous clip. Butler takes to Yabu. The shots good on the assist by Butler. Yu has got the game tied up here for Philadelphia. You can’t lose a shooter like him on the court. The ball will find its way to him and he will drill a three each time. Jones the best of Plumbley. Now here’s Field. Back to Plumbley. The rebound by Yabusle. Here’s Council. And that won’t go. Missing the go-ahead bucket. And so it’s Beal who brings the ball up for the Suns. Fresh from a win against Portland. They shot the lights out from deep. really stretched out the defense in that one. Tough to keep the consistency from deep, but they did it last time. Rebound by the 76ers. Here’s Dton still without a basket. Pass to Butler. That’s good. Basket number five on a five for eight night shooting. And that’s exactly what they’re going for on that shot. And timeout is called by Mike Putinhoer. He wants to talk to his guys for your breaker. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. So for the Suns, Durant checked in for Plumber. T comes in for Beal and it’s Booker in for Tus Jones. The Suns have gone six and nine in the second quarter. Some good work from the field. Done outside. Harton’s in the post. Hasn’t made one yet. Cast O’Neal. Phoenix needs to get off the shot for three. Booker. Booker sinks the three. Part of the evolution of Booker’s game, getting consistent from the Here’s Grimes. Back to Maxi. at the floater. The shot misses. Good D by Booker. Phoenix has gotten both of their three-point attempts to go down here in the second quarter. And it’s Martin missing. That’s a surprise. I mean, really out of character for him to miss when the defense is not right up on him. Here’s Grimes. His last outing, 16 points for him. Dominous double pass to Grimes. And here’s Edwards from the arc. It’s rebounded by O’Neal. O’Neal’s got his fourth rebound in this one. With a short break in the action gives us a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge. Kevin, thank you. Kevin Durant is the human cheat code. Bradley Beal says of his new teammate, he’s 7T tall. He can shoot the ball. He can do everything. It’s a little unfair. I get a bit jealous sometimes. I wish I was 7 feet, but nothing he does really surprises me. When he’s in attack mode and locked in, there’s nothing I can do. Kevin, not a single darn thing. You’re so right. David Banks, those are starting to add up, guys. Their last five baskets, three have been tripping. Nagi with it. Cowg guarded by Hooker. Stolen by O’Neal. Hooker at the elbow. Tyrese Maxi grabs the miss. 76ers trailing right wing. Here’s Grimes. He’s got seven. UB kicks to Maxi. Six on the shot clock. Drummond sets the screen for Maxi to the middle and it’s Drummond with the jam. What a read by Maxi. sees how the play opens up and sends the ball that way. And Mike Benhozer is called a timeout. He wants to make some adjustments to the game plan. Clearly cam. If you see yourself on the big screen, then you know what to do. Show us your move. Let’s see. Shake it. So for the Suns, Nick Richards comes in for Royce O’Neal and Beal subbed in for Donor. And the 76ers also making a change. Gab’s checked in. Maxi against Booker. inside and he makes no mistake on the slam dunk. Continuing to get better at facilitating Bucker with a dime. 76ers have gone seven to 13 from the field since the start of the second. Pass to Grimes. Drummond with a screen on Beal. Here’s Grimes and he gets it to go. Hitting off the back of the rim. Grimes has got it all tied up now for Philadelphia. Booker against Maxi. Back to Booker. And Kevin Booker in the paint. At his size, Katie is able to see the four so well and it helps him make passes just like that. And always hovering around the 50 40 90 mark. Kevin Durant is both prolific and Greg efficient. And Kevin, you want to talk about guys in this league who make great plays time and time again. Katie is right at the top of that list. Oh, just solid on the one-handed slam. And guys, when it’s a tight ball game like this, he’s the guy they want with the ball. Unloads from 13. And there’s on the assist by Martin. Martin has got three assists tonight. Keep riding that hot hand. He’s been pretty much unstoppable. Drummond sets the screen for Maxi. Here’s Grimes. Guarded by KD. Back to Maxi. Down to five on the shot clock. Phoenix has gone 46 from outside the arc tonight. Here’s Booker. Booker taking the hit. And they’re beginning to just flat out fall apart defensively right now, especially on the interior. Maxi against Booker. Now Maxi three-pointer. No good there. And that’s when they say you can’t be tall. This is where size helps you. Owning those rebounds on the defensive end. Bradley Beal. He’s been the guy making things happen for the Phoenix Suns. They’ve leaned on him for offense and he hasn’t let him down. He’s now up to 23 points today. And now, let’s catch up with David Aldridge who’s standing by from the sideline. All right, Dave. Thanks a lot, Katie. It looks like you guys were able to build as the half went along. What happened out there? Well, we stayed with our defense. I think we were a little lazy to end that first quarter. We just came out and made him shoot tough shots, rebound the basketball, get out, and get some easy points. Certainly showed in the second quarter. Thanks a lot. Back to you, Kevin. Thanks so much, Dave, for the great interview. Don’t go away, folks. We’ll be back for the second half of basketball right after this. Welcome one and all. Before we hear Kenny and Shaq’s insights on that first half, let’s look ahead and check out the upcoming schedule. You know, I love sitting up here and doing this show with you guys. I learn something new every day. Man, you know what? It is pretty unreal. They pay us to do this. Did I say that out loud? Wait, you guys get paid? Well, yeah. We wouldn’t sit here and deal with you for free. You got to call my agent now. And a look back now at the first half as the Sixers have a tight game on their hands. I like the way they’ve been running, pushing the ball, putting that defense on its heels. Yeah, you love their tempo. When they play fast, they can put points on the board in a hurry, Ernie. And that about wraps it up. And as the third quarter is about to begin, we go to Kevin Harland for the call. Second half of basketball upon us. We may be in for an exciting finish based on how close of a game it’s been so far. Bradley Beal having a dominant impact in this game. And how about the amount he’s contributing in the scoring column through two quarters? He has been terrific. He always wants to be a go-to guy for them. I’m sure he’ll be calling for the ball even more in this half. Phoenix leading by four. And on the four for Nick Nurse as we get into the second half, we’ve got Yabuselli. He’s out there with Andre Drummond. UB out there with Maxi and it’s Grimes in at the two star. Here’s Booker. That’s short off the rim. And so it’s Maxi with it. He brings it up for Philadelphia. Sele passes to Maxi. Here’s Yale and finds Maxi. Shot clock at six. and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. First personal foul. It’s time now to look at the NBA’s top shooting teams from a season ago. The Sun’s fifth. Hard to shoot the ball any better than they did. I mean, they weren’t the best in the league, but man, they were right there. Shooting two. And the first one drops. The thing you love about Maxi is that he always has a smile when he’s out there. He’s enjoying himself and he embraces the challenge that the game presents. And so he hits both. Now he’s perfectly comfortable doing work at the line. The Suns leading and here is Beal from deep. The rebound by Yabu Sele’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Maxi banked in off the glass. Maxi Maxi’s got the game tied up here for the 76ers. I’ll tell you when Maxi gets into his rhythm he can go all night long outside misses the three. That’s not how you want to come out of the break. Three straight misses. They need to settle in quick to the inside and he jams it after taking the nice feet on the run. assisted by undersized for. He more than makes up for it with his bounce outside. Beal out of hand on it. UB with it. He’s got nine down low. Stolen by Martin. Now here’s Durant. Defense is right there. Booker against Maxi. Ooh, Booker taking the hit. A much needed bucket after clanking their first four shots. Here’s Philadelphia. They’ve only allowed two points so far here in the second half. Drummond with a screen on Booker. Maxi into the lane. He can’t get it to go. That is some tough defense there against one of the better finishers in our game. Who got you? Martin kicks to Durant. Now here’s Be. He’s covered closely. Out of bounds. Philadelphia takes possession. The 76ers have gone two of three from the field to start the second half. Pass to Drummond. Now here’s UB. Here’s Yale. Another miss by Philadelphia. Hooker with it. Maxi covering outside. Durant in the corner. It’s Martin outside field. No luck that time on the shot that would have put them on top. UB on the wing covered by Martin. UB passes to Yaba to the paint to find Maxi and gets it to him. Here’s Truman. Nice work on the board. paying off with the basket. Drummond’s got his second basket of the night. And there’s a pattern starting to take shape here. They’re working it inside and getting good shots from close range. Here’s Katie and the call on the shot. It sends in to the line. And Kevin Durant, one of the top 10 scorers in league history. And RJ still going strong. And he does it with efficiency. Kevin takes great shots and he’s incredibly accurate. And if he doesn’t have a look, he’s a willing passer. First one falls for him. You love everything that KD gives you on both ends. And he’s a three-level two-way player. He’s a quiet leader, but he leads by example. And so Durant nails them both. Some big guys struggle at the line. Not him. He’s put in the work to defy that assumption. And we will have a timeout called by Nick Nurse. He wants a minute here to get things straightened out with his team. That’s right. Time to make the noise for you. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And taking a look here at some numbers for Booker. Great showing for him last season and his passing skills were on full display all year. He ranked among the top 15 in assists. And back to his points per game average last year. He literally propped up the team’s offense whenever they needed it. Grimes passes to Ubé. Drummond sets the screen for Ubé. Pass to Drummond. Here’s Yule. Just five to shoot. gets it to go from beyond the arm. Got 11 points. He can really stroke it from deep. You have to keep better tabs on him. Booker outside. Sweet move. Rebound by the 76ers. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. After this game, they can look forward to LA where they’ll match up against the Clippers. Match up falls in the middle game of this three-game trip. Maxi against Booker. And that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. Courtesy of the 2K leaderboard. Here’s a peek at the league’s top scorers from a season ago. Fifth, Kevin Durant. And looking back, his points per game really underscored the fact that he never took a game off. I mean, one special performance after another all season long. Shooting two. Maxi hits them both. We’re still waiting for that first miss from the line of this half. Hooker the best to KD off target with his three of 76ers leading by five. Bubre bounce pass. Here’s Grimes. Score the bucket. He’s made five so far shooting a very clean five of seven. Loving the energy right now here in the third quarter as they try to take control of this game. Yes, this is a pivotal moment in this game. Those extra possessions right now, they just mean a little bit more. And Mike Putin holds her is called a timeout. He wants to check in with his team and regroup. Here comes the ball. Let me hear you make some noise. Get loud and let them hear it. Loudest section of the arena is free. Heat. Heat. Donny’s checking for Cody Martin, Illinois. Dunn passes to Booker looking to end the run and it’s good on the layin. Booker’s got 20 points. just bouncing off of contact. Booker putting in work in that weight room. Edwards a screen on Booker. Here’s Dton defended by Booker for the three. Dton no good. Suns trail by five. Durant for three. Rebound by the 76ers. Drummond’s got his eighth rebound here tonight. And the shots just continue to say no in terms of falling. Edwards passes to Down and Durant sends it back. We’ve seen Durant really improve as a defender using his impressive length to block shots and finished off by and some hang time on the rim. puts a little cherry on the top of that slam. Well, those kind of displays of strength can get one team rolling. Crys passes to Edwards. Here’s Yale. Philadelphia moving the ball. There’s the pick. Just four to shoot. Another miss by Philadelphia. And here’s Don. He’ll bring it up for the Phoenix Suns. It’s a three-point game. Here’s Beal and he uses the glass on the lane. Be’s got four points now in the quarter. Yeah, that’s the third bucket in a row from the paint. This defense needs to clog those lanes in the middle. Outside Edwards and he hits the jump shot and the 76ers lead by three. Obviously, this guy has a talent for scoring. Able to problem solve for whatever the defense tosses at him. Dun passes to be able and he gets the whistle for the 3second call. Just lost his pushing a little too hard. Nick Nurse calling timeout here. He wants to make some adjustments to the game plan. Clearly, man, please give a big round of applause for your son. You can’t Heat up here. Ladies and gentlemen, O’Neal in for Phoenix. Jones comes in for Deon Bookerit. And while we can’t, here’s a look at the teams that had the fastest hands in the league last season. The 76ers number one. You know, I don’t know if the numbers even told the story. I mean, their defense was as good as it gets. Often just leaving their opponents completely demoralized. Jones against Butler. And there’s the call on Jared Butler. That’s his first foul. Yeah, really good defensive play to cut him off there and square up. Now here’s Beal. He’s got 27. Pulls it from the elbow again. Phoenix. And they’ve worked the ball around so well tonight for those quality looks for mid third. Butler feeling it out a bit. Pass to Grimes. The shots good on the assist by Butler. Grimes has got 14 points for the game. You give a shooter of his caliber that much time to seam it up. Oh yeah, you’re done. Jones the pass to O’Neal. There’s a minute 34 left in the third quarter of the game. O’Neal sets the screen for Jones. Just three to shoot. Pass to Beal. Tigers from deep. It’s hauled in by Edwards. He had six points from long range in the first half, but nothing’s falling here since. Here’s Grimes. Back to Butler. with the drive and they pick up two. Now it’s a six-point Philadelphia lead. And not quite as aggressive from outside as they were in the first half. Sticking to the high percentage shots, playing smart with the lead. KD passes to Dun up top. It’s hauled in by the 76ers. Not his best efficiency this quarter. And look, sometimes that’s how it goes. Dton pass it to Butler. Philadelphia moving the ball around. There’s 21 seconds left in the third quarter. And the basket by Edwards and battling hard on the glass. They hold the advantage here so far. Here’s Beal. He’s got 29 points. Fouled on the shot. Picks up two points. So, one free throw coming up. What a player there. First personal foul. Second team foul. He’s got his fourth free throw of the game. Phoenix Bradley B shooting one. A deep three from Butler. And the last shot before the buzzer is off. And so it’s the Philadelphia 76ers with a six-point lead at the end of the quarter. Defensively, they have had their sights set on Kevin Durant. And they’ve done a terrific job holding him in check. Right back after this break. And now let’s go back to a play from earlier as we show you our State Farm assist of the game. And I’m glad this was the pick because I love this pass. Such a great dish. That’s what I call court vision. That wasn’t a better pass in the game. Almost like he had a six sense. Well, this has been a great contest so far and I imagine the fourth quarter could have even more action in store for us. Booker out there with Martin. Then it’s O’Neal. Then there’s Plumbley and it’s done. And at the three out there for Phoenix. How many times have we seen a possession like that from them today, ending with a basket coming off a pretty pass? Fires at the elbow. That’s good. The Philadelphia lead is cut down now to just six. And the basket from Devin Booker. So lethal from the mid-range. Booker’s just one of those guys that can hit you at all three levels. To the inside. Here’s Reese. It’s hauled in by the Suns. Plumbley’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Inside O’Neal and the layup falls. O’Neal’s got his first two points. Taking on more playmaking responsibilities, Booker has matured over the years, becoming a better teammate. Lets it go from 11. And off the front and in it goes. And the 76ers lead by six. Outside Martin Dunn finds Booker. It’s Martin on the wing. Booker draws the double. A three. And there’s Martin. That’s good on the assist by Booker. Nice pass. Such a deep ends that time. Booker showing us his vision now. But pass to councel clock at six. Here’s Reese. It counts and the foul. Defensive foul. It’s going to be a Mason killing him from the interior. And a look now at how the offensive approach has been going here so far for Philadelphia. Oh, they’ve been punishing the inside defense consistently in this one. Look, it’s been a very productive area of the floor for them. And the other thing you notice is how committed they’ve been to playing with the pass. Constantly moving that ball from one side to the other. Suns trail by six. To the middle. Here’s Martin. And a great assist by Hooker as that one goes in. Booker’s got four assists in the game. Butler against Jones. Outside Butler. Reese guarded by O’Neal. Here’s Reese. It’s hauled in by Don and it’s Jones with the ball for the Phoenix Suns. Trailing by four. Booker outside. Off on the layup. The 76ers leading by four. And just about 3 minutes through the fourth quarter here. And Butler, here we go. Score the basket. He’s eight. Eight for 13 from the floor. They should continue to get the ball inside. The defense struggling to contain them. Top of the key. Booker the 19 ft shot. Not enough on that one as it misses. The 76ers have gotten four of their six shots to fall so far here in the fourth. Pretty nice efficiency there. Count that one. And now it’s an eight-point Philadelphia lead. They’re scoring boatloads of buckets. It’s raining buckets from inside. Down low. It’s picked off as to Edwards. Good ball movement here by the 76ers. And there it is for him. Down’s got the lead up to 10 now for the 76ers. The floater is so tough to defend against. Nothing defenders can really do but shake their heads and foul on the shot. So he’ll get a chance at the line. Second. Outstanding initiative from Booker. Terrific at earning these calls inside the line for Phoenix. Devin Booker. Two shots. Let’s get it. Free throw. Good hooker. And even though they’re down, they are putting on a show at the free throw line. Phoenix making some changes. Nick Richards. He’s checked in for Royce O’Neal. Kevin Durant comes in for Dunn and Beal subbed in for Jones. Get it. Good job. Good. Get up. Good job. And good on the second. So he makes him both. This is who you want at the line. And Booker gets himself there alive to the inside. Here’s Ubé and finished off by Ubé. You love how each side has risen to the challenge throughout this one. Man, this has been a fun one. But look, who doesn’t love a highscoring game? Booker with no one around off the mark there with the three-point shot. A slight rebound advantage for them. One more column in their favor and it’s all adding up. Suns trail by 10 and they’re pushing it up. Here’s Richards and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. Andre Drummond picks one up. Yeah, the defender all over at the line for Phoenix. Nick Richards taking two shots. The first one falls. Some changes for Phoenix. Donny’s checked in for Martin. And Taius Jones subbed in for Booker. And Philadelphia also making a switch. Yule, he’s checked in for Edwards. And Richards drops them both. Philadelphia leading by eight. Maxi passes to Drummond. And there’s the call by the official. They’ve got the basket here following the goalending call. Just barely too late and catches it on the way down. He’s already in the air there committed so can’t fault him for going for the block. One shot on the free throw. No good. I think of Andre Drummond as a big man’s big man. He’s a steadfast presence in the paint who really focuses on owning the backboard and attacking Mor. Not as good as the seven. The Sixers lead is cut down to eight on the bucket from Durant. No settling for an outside shot there. They went right to the hoop. And so it’s Maxu brings up the ball for the 76ers. Misses off the left eye. Phoenix has gone one and two from three-point range here in the fourth. Here’s Beal. Count it. Be’s got 11 in the second half. For his sake, I hope they can come back. You hate to see the performance he’s having be wasted in a loss. UB passes to Grind. It’s deflected. It’s threeon three on the fast break. Count it and the Philadelphia Eagles with the bucket from Jones. Good eyes, Bradley Beal. That’s a nice setup there. UB outside and the layup’s good off the glass. And the 76ers lead by six. Watch out. When Maxi finds his groove like this, he’ll just keep coming at you and at you. Jones with it. He’s picked up by Drummond and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. Really the right play defensively. If you can’t block, force him to the line. At the line for two, Tus Jones. And he makes the first Hooker. He’s checked in for the silence. And so Jones nails both of them. The 76ers leading by four. Pass to Grimes. Back to Maxi. Good for basket number six from him in the contest. He’s shooting six for 12. Just no resistance on the inside. That’s their fifth consecutive make in the paint. Outside Beal back to Jones. Durant kicks to Jones outside KD. Shot clock at five. Lets it go from deep. Oh, the Suki three from KD. And he’s been much more assertive here in the second half. Getting to his spot, executing the team. And we will have a timeout called by Nick Nurse. Clearly, he’s got something his players need to hear. And immediately the loudest t-shirt. So get loud. Who’s ready for t-shirt time? Get on your feet. Get loud. Here comes the teacher. Get up out of your teeth everybody. And Phoenix making a change. Martin’s check in a moment now to hear from our sideline reporter and Hall of Famer David. David. Well, during that break, coach Nick Nurse talked to his team. With the game in the balance, coach was calm in the huddle. His main message, execution. He told his team to make sure to remember what they talked about during shootound. We’ve got a great ending in store, guys. Thanks, David. Axi passes to Grimes. Wants to get it to Ubé and does. Second chance shot. He lays it in. Kelly Ubé Jr. And the 76ers lead by five. Crafty at cashing in from there. UB Jr. enjoys working on his interior game when given the opportunity. Durant no good. He missed that one, but I’ve seen him drill shots from that distance in warm-ups. Even though he is capable of hitting that shot, I’d like to see him work for a better look in that situation. Maxi against Booker. Two shots coming up at the line as he gets fouled on the shot. And Maxi keeps defenders guessing which is why they sometimes overcommit like this. At the line for the 76ers, Tyrese Maxi taking two shots, shooting two. First free throw is good. Maxi hits them both. Suns trail by seven. Outside Beal Booker in the corner. Two minutes remaining in the game. Over Maxi. No good from Booker. Whatever rhythm he had last quarter, it has left his body. He is having a hard time finding buckets. Maxi basket made. That gives him seven field goals in 13 tries. Continuing to work. No give from Maxi even amongst the bigs. takes a step back outside. Beal. 133 left in the game. Inside, here’s Richards defended by Drummond. Count it. 76ers lead has been cut to just seven points in the basket from Richards. Here’s Philadelphia. Maxi looking it over. UB outside. They grab their own miss. Here’s Grimes and a missed waiter will bring it up for Phoenix. 59 seconds left in the fourth quarter. It falls. Oh, and that cuts the lead to just five. There is no shot too big for Booker. He lives for these moments. Maxi against Booker and contact on the shot. So he’ll be shooting free throws here. Foul 14 foul shooting for Philadelphia. Tyrese Maxi at the line for two. Shoot two. Gets the first. That increases their lead to six. And a tough break is his second attempt at the line. No good. And I’m sure he would like to have had all of those, but he’s still able to pad the lead. And it’s Philadelphia with the rebound. And he commits the intentional foul. First personal foul. 15 foul at the line for the 76ers. Kelly Uber Jr. Two shots. Good on the first and that makes it a seven-point lead. and he hits both free throws here. So now it’s an eight-point game and the Suns call time here. There’s 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Turning here to our analysts, what factors guys come to your mind? Yeah, pure desperation right now. If you think there’s another Heat up Heat. Heat. That’s 31 seconds left here in the fourth quarter. Here’s KD. Good. A nice assist from Booker. What a big shot from Durant. This guy is the definition of clutch. So they foul intentionally. Second personal foul. Team is in the penalty shooting for Philadelphia. Quinton Bry. Two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. So, the first one drops and that makes it a seven-point lead. So, he goes two for two at the line and it’s an eight-point game. Faint looking very thin now, Greg with very few ticks of the clock remaining. They’ll need something special to happen and it needs to happen fast. So, Philadelphia wins it. They came in here and took care of business like they were the home team. The mentalness that this group showed. They were never rattled at all by the opposing fans. And that’s going to do it tonight folks for our broadcast alongside Richard Jefferson and Greg Anthony and our reporter David Aldridge and the entire 2K Sports crew. This is Kevin Harland saying so long. And now we present the player of the game, Jared Butler.
