NEW Elden Ring Nightreign DLC Details! | SOTE Weapons, Nightfarer Lore, and MORE!

All right, what’s going on, guys? So, earlier this week, we had the gameplay trailer for Elden Ring Night Reigns DLC, The Forsaken Hollows, and we just did a full breakdown of this trailer. So, if you haven’t checked out that video yet, I highly recommend doing so because there is a lot packed in here and even outside of this trailer and a lot of details you likely missed, which is going to be the topic of today’s video because since that trailer drop, we have been picking every little thing apart and there are a lot of details that slipped through the cracks. So, we’re going to cover many new discoveries today and get an even deeper understanding of what this DLC is, what’s going on here, because as is typical of From Software, this is full of secrets. But as we get started today, as always, if you want to stay up to date on all things Elden Ring Night Re, go ahead and hit that subscribe button. And now, let’s get into it. To start off today, let’s look at something outside the trailer that we neglected to mention in the breakdown video, and that is the new images that were posted on the listing for the DLC. when you go to purchase it on game websites. Now, the first image that we have here shows the two new nightfarers, Scholar and Undertaker, flying into Limbell. And we get a look at one of the new sky boxes. I absolutely love the colors going on here. And I think this might be the skybox for the drag lord since it appears to match the color scheme going on in the boss fight that we saw in the trailer. We can also see there directly undertaker, one of the new POIs, the shaded castle type area, and you can see the tower falling in the center. But aside from that, this is a pretty generic image. The next image shows a boss fight with the divine beast dancing lion. And there’s a lot to extrapolate here. First of all, if we look at the area that they’re fighting in, this is the interior of a divine tower. So, I think we can reason here that one new POI is going to be a divine tower where in which inside we’ll find a divine beast dancing lion. And that’s reinforced by the fact that in the background over there on the left behind Undertaker, we can see the sky and a spirit hawk point. And actually, based on that blue color of the sky, I think there’s a chance this is inside the new shifting earth, the great hollow, and could potentially be the main boss fight of that shifting earth. I was racking my brain trying to think what they would make as the main fight there. And the divine beast dancing lion would be a pretty good one, but that’s just my own speculation. The next image we have appears to also be inside the great hollow given by the cave aesthetic and the crystals along the ground. Although the color is different, so it may not be, but we can clearly see there is a new Kan theme going on with the Karan trolls. So glad to see them making a return. The next image we have shows Undertaker in some sort of cave with Mesmer soldiers. We can see a lot of corpses on the ground and it’s very red. Maybe just by the light of the torch, but if this is a new POI with Mesmer soldier themes, then that red color can be indicative of Mesmer’s flame. We can see lots of bricks and a fallen castle wall. So, I’m inclined to believe this is a new POI. In the next image, we get a shot of Recluse standing in the great hollow, and we can see this giant blue crystal. Although, aside from that, there’s not much more to go off here. We got a much better shot of the area in the trailer. Very cool looking. And then the final images of the first night lord that we saw, these seven angels. And there’s something very interesting to notice here. Take a look at the weapons they’re wielding. At first glance, they all look the same, but they’re actually not. If we take a look at the spearheads, we can see that several of them are different. The two on the far left end appear to be much more like spears, while the ones in the middle look more like the blades of glaes. Then, if we look over to the right, one of them is an outlier with the head of a weapon looking like that of a mace. And we can see this much more clearly in the trailer where we can spy that three of them have the spears, three of them have the glaes, and then one has the mace. So perhaps we have a situation here where the one with the mace is the true boss while the others are clones. And likely the spears and the glaes fight differently. I think that would be a pretty cool gimmick. Maybe that’s a little bit too obvious, but what other reason do you think they could have for the varying weapon types? So now let’s take a deep dive into our new night farers. Now, as you know, the two new characters that will be joining our roster are Scholar and Undertaker. Now, as I mentioned in the breakdown, these characters have been leaked for some time with various information about them, their abilities, and how they’ll function. But spread across various subjects of information, we can paint a pretty good picture of each one. Scholar is characterized by the primary weapon type of thrusting swords which he uses alongside magic. His own unique type of magic which looks to be similar to the crucible skills white like the spell cast by the Miranda flowers. His ultimate art is called joint chain, a spell which binds enemies together, transferring damage through every single enemy caught in its diameter. His passive ability and character skill are currently unknown, at least as far as I could find. But he’s described as having a focus on team support and utility. And if you looked at the PlayStation blog post, there’s a short lore description there as well. Scholar, an academic who walks the lands between, boasting impressive arcane levels. He gains incredible advantages through battlefield observation. Now, what does that mean exactly? Maybe his passive ability has something to do with discovering areas, but we’ll have to wait and see on that. Undertaker has the primary weapon of hammers with the primary stats of strength and faith finally. And she has the ultimate art of blink stage which cloaks her in this magical aura allowing her to survive any attack and then unleash a massive counterattack. And she’s described as a melee focused character with the skill to teleport. Now is that actually going to be her skill? Well, we don’t know yet. Her tab reads undertaker. An abbess who is mandated to slay the night lord. Boasting impressive strength and faith. She sends enemies to the afterlife with ruthless efficiency. Sounds like my kind of character. But that is currently all the information we have on these nightfares. A lot more than the trailer shows. But now, let’s take a look at some interesting details that we can see in the trailer itself that most people missed. Starting with this shot here, the focal point is on this Knights Tide Titan. But there on the right, we can see it pans up to a divine tower, further reinforcing that the boss of the great hollow is the divine beast dancing lion based on what we talked about earlier. Now, one thing we did not see in the trailer or get info about is whether or not weapons from Shadow of the Earth tree will be making a comeback in the Forsaken Hollows. And you’re probably thinking, “Well, duh. We already see lots of Shadow of the Earth tree content. Why would they not add more weapons, and that’s a good assumption, but Night Rain’s been a little weird about that stuff, so I wouldn’t really put it past him. However, fortunately, we do see a few in the trailer. But there’s a catch. Only in the hands of enemies so far. In the shot of Iron Eye with the Fire Knight, you can clearly see that the enemy is wielding the Fire Knight’s greatsword. Now, since enemies can drop their weapons in this game, that’s a pretty good sign to me that this weapon will be making a return. The same is true for the shot of Mesmer soldiers. They’re wielding their DLC weapons. So, at least on the enemy side of things, we do see some DLC weapons in this trailer. Now, one thing that I am a little worried about. If those weapons are returning, could we also see the new weapon types that were introduced with Shadow of the Earth tree, and here’s where I have a little hesitation. I wouldn’t be surprised to not see those make a return simply because we already have lots of relics and aspects of the game that are built around certain weapon types, and that would likely be a decent hassle for them to have to introduce all these new ones and build all of that work back from the ground. Now, maybe they will, but the fact that none of the new night farers use the new weapon types in the DLC has me a little concerned for that, but time will tell. The next thing I want to take a look at, one highlight of the trailer, is that we can see Gladius as an invasion in the overworld. But one thing that people have noticed is that if you look at the key art for the DLC, featured very prominently there to the left of the characters is Gladius’s sword. Now, is that just purely an aesthetic choice, or is there more to be extrapolated? I don’t know. So, it’s just a little bit weird that that’s so much at the forefront compared to everything else and not some other element from the DLC. But also there at the top, you can see the skeleton of the dreg lord with his sort of smiling skull face. And to the right, we can see his weapon, which is this almost bone sight. Kind of looks a lot like Nandra right here. But since we can see his actual boss fight in the trailer, gamewise, they’re not close at all. Now, the final thing I want to talk about today is Artorius. We mentioned in our initial breakdown that the attack we can see him performing is new, even though it is ripped straight out of his cutscene in Dark Souls 1. That was never an attack he could actually perform in the game. But one thing I didn’t notice was this blue smoke and the sort of water he creates when he does the attack. Whenever he stabs Wilder into the ground, you can see this sort of double splash happen. So, this makes me wonder, are they going to give Artorius more lore in terms of the night and the rain, which isn’t something we saw them do for the other returning Dark Souls bosses? Now, I know Artorius has his sort of abyss sludge attack, but this is completely different. I really hope we do see, and this is something I mentioned as well, based on what we’re seeing here, it does look like we’re going to be fighting a big enhanced version of Artorius, and these signs are pointing to that. But if they do go the extra mile and evolve that boss fight with lore that connects him to more of these elements in Night Rain, that would be sick, and it’s really the perfect character to do it with. But these were a lot of details that people have noticed over the past few days, stuff that we missed in our initial breakdown that I wanted to cover here on the channel. But if you noticed other details that we did not discuss, be sure to leave those down in the comments section below. Go check out the first breakdown if you missed that one and leave a like on the video if you enjoyed. Also, if you’re new, be sure to hit that subscribe button and I will catch you in the next one.
