Where Winds Meet Will Change Forever! Biggest DLCs, Upcoming Features & New Martial Arts!
I don’t think anyone’s ready for how massive the content in where Winds meet is about to get. We’re talking about completely new zones, a ton of new mechanics, and most important, some amazing new weapons that we currently don’t have access to, but the CN version definitely does. So, we’re going to take a look at some of the biggest updates we should expect in the following months and pretty much year. So, without further ado, let’s jump right in. Now, keep in mind that for the most part, I’m only going to cover the major updates. The game pretty much got updates every single month and a ton of extra cosmetics and other events too. But for the time being, if you pay attention to the version we have in game, it’s actually missing out multiple very large regions. Even Kyifang is not complete at the current time as it’s missing a part of the Roaring Sands location. So, this is something that back in the CN version last year when it launched, it came out with update 1.2 within the first month of the game’s release. Of course, the timeline here may change or defer, but this actually introduced a couple of cool new things. Mostly, it continued the story. It added some new story elements as well with this new region and also multiple boss encounters, including a main story boss and three more world bosses that are currently missing. Most noteworthy in the Roaring Sands region is the story line involving the Dragon King and River Goddard, which also end up being a duo boss fight we have to take on at the same time, where one of the bosses uses powerful water cannon attacks that we can deflect back at it. The other wields a massive sword he can charge up and relentlessly attack us with. But in the following week, at the very least, back when this came out, the can version also got additional main story content, which mostly also included the final chapter of the Kiang story line, which also concluded with a very interesting boss fight against the black god of wealth. This one had a mechanic that literally took advantage of the player greed in the sense that the final boss arena had these piles of echojs that can be collected from the ground. However, in doing so, you can end up being stun locked, which means being opened to a ton of incoming boss damage. So, a very cool way of taking advantage of something that players really need in the game itself. Besides this, three world bosses also got added at the end of that week. Some of which I’m pretty sure we’ve also seen in some of the previous betas. But, uh, just to name them, we have the Nameless General, which you can find at the Marshall Temple in South Kang. He’s not going to be accessible right now, but this boss features a lots of high-speed front-facing attacks that are useful to deflect or flank and who also gets a more powered up second phase once you bring it to that. Also, the coffin keeper lord right here up north is going to be located in the first region. You can even visit the arena right now, but it’s not going to spawn over there. It seems to have very high HP, but it has a lot of slow, hard-hitting moves, so it should be easier to parry. And finally, the drunk striker. Also in Kyifang, close to the southern camp waypoint. You can even see a ton of like booze canisters uses a lot of nasty inebriating debuffs against you and a lot of unpredictable moves. Of course, it goes without saying that during this whole event and even after that, a lot of new cosmetic items were released and even a new um battle pass. And taking a look at the one that we have currently in game, we still have around 17 days left to complete it. So, this may be an indicator of where we get our version of update 1.2. But probably my most anticipated update is the one that launched earlier this year back in March, so 4 months after the game came out in China. And this was basically the hexi corridor update. Not only did it introduce an amazing new desert region, but also two new weapon variants to the umbrella and the rope darts, but this new desert region is geographically drastically different from the ones we currently have access to in the game. It even features environmental hazards unique to it, including weathers such as sandstorms. And there are completely new exploration skills to take advantage of some of the new stuff over here, including a time manipulation technique. It seems to be called Heaven and Earth Reversal, which as the name implies, it’s pretty much like Sands of Time. Getting some strong vibes of that. It helps a ton at solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles. Then there’s also the golden scales chasing the moon. This is going to be a traversal mechanic that takes advantage of the vastness of the deep desert. Specifically, the human pass seems to feature these uh flowing golden ribbons on the sand dunes that we can take advantage of for more quicker travel. So, I’m not sure if there’s flying over there. If you play that version, let me know in the comments. It seems that this may be the version of that. Plus many other things, too. Like I mentioned, there are two new variants for both the Umbrella play style and the rope dart play style. So, the Umbrella gets a bamboo cut variant. Instead of throwing magical missiles like with the other two variants, this play style focuses a lot more on throwing the umbrella itself and even includes teleportation mechanics and a lot more AoE. Like you can see the characters standing on it and unleashing continuous damage, but the themes are still going to be very similar. Rob dart, however, seems to be even more interesting compared to the mortal version we have in the game right now. So these attacks here seem to have a lot more range. Its 360 area sweep seems to cover a lot more ground than the one that we have in the game right now and can even debuff enemies with some kind of mechanic or resource called soul draining that we can then consume to power up some of our other attacks. So definitely seems like a very stylish way of playing. But there are other even crazier things coming besides that. The human pass/hexi region got two major boss fights as far as I can tell. One included the ironblooded prince, which is basically the main boss encounter. Like pretty much uses a spear, lightning attacks, and even bows. And it seems to be again very acrobatic and really cool. And also a literal massive lost bow we can fight in the open desert. So this is kind of looking like a ghost ship. Launches a relentless barrage of projectiles the moment you get close to it. Can even fly up way into the sky. And if I’m not mistaken, it seems to be launching an attack that literally looks like it’s throwing the moon towards you. So yeah, the level of creativity over here is really wild. But it didn’t stop here because a couple of months later in May, it also launched a new frost biome. So basically a snow region. I believe this was called Leang Jo, but I may be pronouncing that completely wrong. So my apologies. But this introduced some really interesting new mechanics. And also pay attention to the snow in this case. It looks actually better than I expected. So, um, yeah, fully loving this and everything in it. There was even a frost lady boss encounter, but as far as I’m aware, this was not when the next set of weapons got introduced. So, this happened at the end of July, a couple of months later. This included the tank blade or how some people call it, the katana, and another one which seems to be a variant of the Moblade or the greatsword play style. But between the two, it seems that the tank blade is definitely very interesting. It seems to feature this mechanic where if you perfectly deflect an enemy’s attack, you can follow up with a similar button prompt to when you also stance break the target, but you can do it even when the enemy is not stance broken. So, you follow up with that blue attack, which performs this horizontal slash, I guess, hence the name of the sword, which seems to be really powerful. But I’m also loving this attack over here, the charged followup, which also ends up with like a thousand cuts against the enemy’s position. Really anime style. And it’s also going to feature a very fast play style compared to even what we have right now in the game. So at the time when this came out, I believe it was also very strong in the CN version. The broadsword on the other hand got a different variant of the martial arts, the modo or the 10 directions breaking formations. So instead of being more focused on the tank like the one we have in the game right now, it’s more focused seemingly on DPS and summoning after images or clones of yourself for more damage. So its buff mechanic, for example, I will assume martial arts skill seems to call up these flags that buff the character with enhanced resilience, I guess. So instead of a shield, you’re pretty much immune to CC. The charged heavy seems to be a double spin in the air before it lands on the ground and then follows up with an after image like a couple of seconds later further dealing damage to the same target or I guess any target that gets affected. And the same goes for the charge the light attack. Now it’s going to be this spin similar to the one we have in the game except that it does a complete 360 and then follows up with two more clones that do something similar. Overall, it looks like the type of play style I’ve been waiting for. I absolutely would love a play style that’s a little bit higher on the ranking in terms of DPS because otherwise the move sets have been some of my favorite when I played with the tanky version. But probably most exciting updates were following after 2.0 earlier this September with the Nameless Mountain release and then with update 2.2 most recently in November. There are some really big additions over here. So besides the new maps which further continue the story, adds a lot of cool new environments and ways of traversal. I’m seeing a lot of verticality over here and some really imposing structures, especially in the latest one in 2.2. But specifically, there are two new martial arts added. One of which is really popular right now, the gauntlet, aka the fisted weapon, which is going to be just, yeah, you punching and kicking your enemies, plus using a really interesting, I guess, aven companion in some of the attacks. and also another version of the rope dart martial arts. But specifically in the case of the gauntlet/fist weapon, it seems to incorporate some kind of eagle powers. So both in the regular chain of attacks, you have a follow-up sort of eagle that further deals some damage to the target, but you can also use it to soar into combat and then come out crashing into the ground and dealing a lot of stomping damage at the location you land into. However, it also seems to have a pretty interesting counterattack that leaves behind an after image. And this counterattack seems to be really strong at just getting the enemy stagger or at least interrupted right away even against some of these bosses. Obviously, kicks and fast series of blows seem to be part of the mix as well. I’m not sure which one of these are the martial arts and which are the special arts, but counts me extremely hyped for this even though I know it’s quite a few months away from getting released in the global version. And we have to talk about a new version of the rope dart martial arts thousand machine soaring to heavens. So basically even more AoE than before. You pretty much create this whole ball of slashes and dashes that further yeah just cut the enemies down like they are Swiss cheese. But I’m absolutely loving the play style. This also seems to incorporate eagle power which seems to be the theme of the most recent map. So, a lot of like aven companionship over here going on that further boosts up your attacks. But overall, I’m just loving the whole play style. There’s even like a way to draw enemies in a specific spot with one of the attacks, at least on the rope dart. So, this seems to help a lot with group crowd control and whatnot. Um, overall, we are quite a few good updates away from even seeing any of these for the time being. Just expect what we talked about in update 1.2. So, the Kyifang region specifically and some of those bosses plus some of the encounters and the cosmetics releasing during that time. But like I said, looking at what was released in the Sienna version over the course of the last year, it seems that every month something happened. If it wasn’t an event, it was something new, a feature, or even a completely new zone. I will also post some references down below that you can follow if you want to check out all of these on your own and see everything else that came out. Some of the cosmetics that were launched in the shop, for example, were much better eventually as the time passed by. Like some of the ones right now don’t really do it for me, which is why I’m kind of holding off right now. But uh yeah, later down the line, some better options starting with 1.2 definitely got out. Obviously, lots of them will cost money or are even part of the gacha system. Let me know in the comments if you play the CN version and if there are any other interesting things, mechanics or cool additions that got added over the past year and also if you’re a fresh player on the global launch. Let me know which of these features we just talked about are you looking out the most for. Thanks so much for watching and I’ll see you guys in the next video.
