TONS Of Elden Ring Nightreign DLC Gameplay! | NEW Bosses, Undertaker Breakdown, and More!
All right, what’s going on, guys? The DLC for Elden Ring Night Reign: The Forsaken Hollows comes out tomorrow, depending on which part of the world you’re in, and we just got a ton of new gameplay. Actually, more than I could handle, to be honest. A lot of that coming from GameSpot, who exclusively were able to get hands-on with the DLC early, as well as other Chinese outlets. We got the character trailer for Undertaker, and also a big live stream with Yasirotow and Famitsu going over details of the game. So today we’re going to break down absolutely everything new we learned in preparation for the DLC. And there’s a lot here. So let’s get right into it. Be sure to subscribe if you want to stay up to date on all things Elden Ring Night Re. So the best place to start, I think, is what we learned about the Nightfares. And let’s start with Scholar. Now, we just did a full breakdown video on Scholar last weekend, and I don’t want to rehash all of that here because we have so much to get through covering his abilities and ultimate and how exactly he’ll be useful in team gameplay. So if you haven’t seen that video yet, check that out. But one thing we just learned were his stats. So you can see here Scholar has a B in HP, FP and stamina, a D in strength, a C in dexterity and intelligence and faith, and then an S in arcane. And I’ll be totally honest, compared to the other characters, those stats are a little weak. But we got to keep in mind Scholar’s exact role with buffs and debuffs. He’s built for a team. My only concern here is how he’s going to fare in solo play. Now, one other thing we saw right there was a little lore blurb about him, and it’s very interesting. So, let’s take a look at this. Scholar, an academic who walks the lands between and a member of the school of Hierrodos who seeks knowledge through travel. He contracted a disease that causes abnormally rapid aging. So, some really cool lore there, food for speculation. But, let’s go ahead and move on to Undertaker, who we knew absolutely nothing about until a few hours ago. Now, in addition to the character trailer, we got a lot of gameplay of Undertaker from GameSpot. So, let’s start out with stats and lore. Undertaker has a B in HP, a C in FP and stamina, an A in strength, a D in dexterity and intelligence, an A in faith, and a C in arcane. Some very good and balanced stats there and filling the hole that’s been felt of a strength and faith character. Her lord tab reads undertaker, an abbas who was mandated by her monastery to slay the night lord. Her uncanny strength belies her physique, leading others to keep her at a distance and eventually assign her to the unenviable task of burying the dead. So very cool lore there, a very solid stat distribution, but her abilities are even cooler. Firstly, we have her passive ability called Confluence. Allies execution of art enables additional art activation regardless of gauge. So anytime an ally pops their ult, you can pop your alt too for free. Very strong passive right there. But her character skill is called trance, which reads, “Bloodletting triggers the power of the Loathom Hex.” Now, what that does is put her into a hyper combat mode, which allows for faster stamina regen, surge sprinting without consuming stamina, and an upgraded dodge. So, that’s a very strong skill, one that you’ll generally want to pop at all times. But her ultimate is Loathom Hex, pull out an uncanny bone from body, speed toward target, and strike. So, what this does is literally turn Undertaker into a human missile that does big damage, and in combination with her passive can be popped pretty frequently. Now, one of the most fascinating things about Undertaker that we learned last night were actually some of the relics she can use. All of the Undertaker exclusive relics are focused on boosting attack, and that seems to be par for the course for this character, who is a damage machine, and that is my play style 100%. So, Undertaker is probably going to be my new main. But that is a good general breakdown of this character. Like I said, we have a ton to get through. So, let’s go ahead and move on to some new gameplay details. Starting with the world and what exactly is changing with the map. So, in the DLC, we’re still retaining the same Limveld map, but there are a lot of new POIs or places of interest that are going to shake things up quite a bit. And firstly, let’s talk about the new Mesper Soldier camp. So, this will just be a small camp area with a boss. But, there’s something special here, a new mechanic. At these locations, you can find a giant’s forge. And here, if you interact with that forge, it will allow you to change the abilities of one weapon. You can roll their passive effects, which is incredibly useful, I think, and can definitely see the utility of, especially in a mode like deep of night, where you have several effects on one weapon. But that’s a very small area. One of the big new POIs is the shaded castle, which is less of the shaded castle and more like the swamp basement of Bellerat. We didn’t get to see a bunch of gameplay in here. They only explored a small portion of it, but the boss they fought were the spider scorpions. But yes, this is a poison swamp area. It had to happen. Another interesting part of the map that we got to see in the gameplay was this right here, a portion of GameSpot’s gameplay where the map became covered in snow and this blue haze, but when they opened their map, we could see that this was an invasion. So, I assume that what we’re looking at here is a Caligo invasion. We didn’t actually get to see the boss fight happen, but we already saw that Gladius is getting an overworld invasion, so it makes sense that Caliggo would as well. Now, one thing they were not allowed to show was gameplay of the new shifting earth, the great hollow. However, they did say that it completely changes the map. It is gigantic and very vertical with massive castle forts on the north and south of the hollow and the great hollow itself in the middle of the map. But that’s about all they could say on that. But now, let’s talk about boss fights because we got to see several new ones. Here’s a spoiler warning because we’re going to talk about a returning Dark Souls boss. So, be warned. I’m going to spoil it. a big returning Dark Souls III boss got shown, and that was the Demon Princes. Now, this is one I figured they would bring back. When you think about the Ring City bosses, it just makes the most sense. It’s not too big of a spectacle like Medier, and not literally the final boss of the Dark Souls trilogy like Gail, but this is a really cool one. I’m happy they’re bringing it back, but that makes one DLC boss from Dark Souls and one DLC boss from Dark Souls II. And makes me wonder what DLC boss from Dark Souls 2 they’ll bring back as well that was not shown. Crossing my fingers for Fume Knight. But we also got a look at another very interesting boss fight. Moog is making a comeback, specifically as the Lord of Blood. So, this is his true form, not the form from the Lane Dungeons. But man, I just wish they would bring back all the demigods, but Moog is a cool one to see make a comeback. Anyway, another night boss we got to see was a combination of a cursed blade and a divine beast warrior. So, it seems like that’s going to be a pretty hard one. I was kind of hoping they would do the divine beast warrior trio though, but maybe that would just be way too hard. We also got to see a small portion of a field boss of the ancestral follower warriors and the golden lightning goats are making a return. And of course, we talked about the spider scorpions earlier, but I’m sure we’ll have a lot more bosses as well, especially down in the shifting earth. But now, unfortunately, let’s talk about some bad news. Something we did not see in any of the gameplay were shadow of the earth tree weapons, and none of the interviews mentioned them at all. I was afraid of this. Like I told you guys, when Undertaker and Scholar weren’t using any of the new weapon types, I took that as a sign to mean Shadow of the Earth weapons might not be making a comeback. Now, is it possible when the new update drops for the DLC that they get added, and everybody was just playing an early build? It’s possible, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Now, another thing that dropped alongside this was a long interview with Ishiaki that I’m not going to cover in length here, but in that interview, he mentioned that resources for this DLC were very limited and they weren’t able to reach the full scope they wanted to, but they’re still happy with the product. So, with that, it’s unfortunate and I really hope we do get them, but this might be one of those things that they had to cut. And if so, that sucks. I mean, that really sucks. That really hurts replay-ability. I was looking forward to some new weapons and honestly, that seems like the easiest and most obvious thing they could do. mods have already done it, so I don’t see why they didn’t include them. Hopefully, they do and we just saw an early build, but that doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense. So, we’ll see. Some other small details that we learned. The name of the new angel boss fight, the first night lord of the DLC is called Balancers. Fortunately, they didn’t show any gameplay. I’m glad to be surprised on that one, but you are actually fighting seven enemies at once. So, we’re going to need a scholar in that fight. Another thing we learned is that a massive UI overhaul is planned. They didn’t go into details, but they said to expect that in a future update, with one feature they specifically mentioned being that you’ll be able to name relics. So, that’s cool. But another thing they mentioned, unfortunately, is that they don’t have any other long-term content planned at the moment, which is a shame. So, that may mean we don’t get Everdark versions of the DLC Night Lords. But I guess we’ll see what gets data mined when the DLC drops. We’ll just have to be patient on that. But now, let’s talk about another interesting piece of information that was put out yesterday. So, every so often, Elden Ring likes to put out these infographics. They give a lot of interesting stats about how people play the game, how people die, and so on and so forth. And we got one for Night Rain now. And there’s some pretty revealing stuff in here. So, let’s go through it pretty quickly. First of all, we have the Deep of Night depth distribution by level. So, basically, what percentage of the player base reached which depth? So, we have 37% of the player base at depth 1, 33% at depth 2, 20% at depth three, 7% at depth 4, and 3% that reach depth 5. And I’m not going to lie, man, that’s actually a lot more than I was expecting. I am genuinely surprised to see depth five higher than 1%. Because it is not easy by any means. And I’ll be honest, I did not make it to depth 5. So, to see that 3% there, I got some work to do. But really, when you’re playing raider and you’re getting one shot in depth three, we all let me know down below what depth did you get to and what are you currently at. But next, we have the favorite skins for each night farer. And you can take a look at this. No surprise, the Artorius skin is by far the most popular. But I am kind of surprised that it is the only Dark Souls skin aside from Iron Eyes on this list. Now, one thing I think we can extrapolate from this is using it to judge the popularity of each individual Nightfare. And I think you can reasonably assume based on this data that Wilder is by far the most popular, probably because he’s just the most balanced one and easiest to play. Iron Eye likely coming in second. And based on these numbers, Guardian is last. Again, that’s not exactly what this chart is saying, but I think that tracks based on the data. Next, we have the 10 most often used gestures. Golden Order totality at number one. A lot of people t-posing out here. Coming in at number two is spread out and Bravo at number three. But now we get to some fascinating numbers on this next chart. Eight most deadly field bosses. Coming in at number one, we have Loretta. And I know exactly why. And that’s because there is a Gladius Seed that has Loretta right where you drop in. And no doubt these are a lot of level ones going straight up to Loretta trying to kill her. And obviously that’s not going to happen. And if you play the network test, that was a huge problem. I actually wonder if they’re collecting data from the network test as well because if so, that will likely skew Loretta big time. Now, Draconic Tree Sentinel at number two is fine. I guess that makes sense. It’s a pretty hard boss generally. Tree Avatar at number three is very surprising in my opinion. I think that is the easiest field boss. It has an extremely simple move set. It’s just the Asylum Demon from Dark Souls. I really don’t know who’s dying to this boss that much. And honestly, I don’t even see it in the field that much. Bellaring Hunter at number four. I think it would be higher aside from the fact that a lot of people probably run away when they see it and choose not to engage. Pot trolls at number five makes sense. I’m a little surprised they’re not higher to be honest. And Deathright Bird is probably in the bellbearing hunter situation as well where people run away when they see it, but I would really expect that to be higher than the mislabeled black blade kindred, which has the black knife assassin and dispelled blackblade kindered. And then the final infographic we have is that 1.2 billion players have been revived. So very cool stuff. These infographics are always fascinating to see. It’s always interesting to see how other people are playing the game across the entire community. Anyways, look guys, that is a lot of new details we learned in the new gameplay that was shared last night. Tons of stuff to go over and only one more day to go in the wait for the Forsaken Hollows.
