Elden Ring Nightreign’s DLC is CRAZY!
Well, after months of waiting, Elder Ring Night Reign has finally graced us with a DLC, the Forsaken Hollows. Featuring two new night fairers and night lords, as well as new night bosses, field bosses, items, and a brand new map. I, and I think most Night Rain players, are beyond excited to have a whole new buffet of content to sink our teeth into. So, no real pomp circumstance for this one. Just going to be hopping in and seeing what FromSoft cooked up for us. You have to like access the DLC. I don’t know if the round table’s supposed to change, but let’s see. Do we have the new characters? We don’t. Oh, this guy moved. Do I talk to you? Indicates door perhaps. Concerned. I’m on it. What’s behind door number one? Tell me. Oh my god. What is happening? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I wasn’t ready for that. Who are you? Drag Lord. Wait, like from the drag heat. Oh, look. It’s my new friends. All right, let’s get them. I kind of wish I was not Duchess for this, but you know, we’ll roll with it. Oh my god. Do I have to beat that guy or is it just I mean, I didn’t see the new characters, so I’m assuming I have to beat that guy. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Let me try again. Wait. Oh, the door’s open. Hello. Who are you? Yeah. Can we uh try that again? I kind of feel like I need to redeem myself after that. The scholar has joined the warriors of the round table. He’s a support character who gains advantages by manipulating the battlefield. All right, so fair warning, by the way. I have done everything in my power to avoid spoilers for the DLC here. Obviously, I’ve looked at some stuff like this character right here. I feel like she’s going to be my new favorite, but we’ll get to that in a second. What do you have to say? Oh, what the [ __ ] is happening? The voice is heard from within the light. We shall descend when the world desires balance. New target has appeared. Earth is shifting. The Great Hollow. What the hell? All right. Well, before I go on any expeditions, let’s see what these new characters are all about. I’m assuming I can pick them now. Yeah. Okay. So, we got Scholar and then we got Undertaker. Let’s check out Scholar first. One thing that I did see Oh, look. He’s got the little like hop step. Anyway, one thing that I did see is apparently he’s an arcane character. I know. I was just saying I was trying to avoid spoilers, but obviously you’re not going to get away with everything. Let us see. Scholar, an academic who walks the lands between and a member of the school of Hierroas who seeks knowledge through travel. He contracted a disease that causes abnormally rapid aging. Uh-huh. boasts impressive arcane levels, but other attributes suffer. Has potential to gain incredible battlefield advantages through observation. Preference is thrusting swords. He does appear to have an S in arcane. Now, my one concern with that is if we go up here to Exeutor, Exeutor also has an S scaling in Arcane, but I don’t exactly remember how to look at this, but like I’m pretty sure Exeutor’s Arcane stat does not scale throughout the game. So, like he starts off the game with I think it’s 27 or 28 arcane, which is huge at level 1, but it’s still 27 or 28 at level 15. So, is he going to be like that? Because to be honest with you, that feels really underwhelming as far as executor is concerned. I don’t know. Anyway, let’s go uh mess around with his abilities a little bit. Okay, so your base weapon is in fact a thrusting sword. You have a whole move set. I suppose that makes sense. My passive is bagcraft. I can carry more items and level up items by using What does that mean? like throwables. Like if I take uh like lightning pots. Oh yeah, look at that. It’s got a little level next to it. Okay, hold on. So if I summon you, I throw the pot. I throw another pot. Item handling level up two. Okay, so I throw the pots and the pots level up. So now if I go here and I get more pots. Oh, they’re all level two. So I just want to pick up all the pots I can find and then we’re good to go. Wait, that’s sick, actually. Also, are some of these new? All right. Anyway, what do my skills do? Analyze. What the [ __ ] Okay, you’ve been analyzed. What does that mean? I mean, I can see that he’s got buffs on him or no, those are debuffs and something’s happening over there. Wait, I’m confused. What does this do? See target with monle and note findings which linger as spirit symbols to various effects. So, is that like a debuff or did I just see things on the guy? I don’t really understand. Anyway, the alt is communion, which I don’t think is going to work here cuz I did see uh apparently his alt like ties enemies together and has them all take damage at once, I guess, or something to that effect. Actually, maybe I could test it over. Hey, stop it. All right. What happens if I push the button? Whoa. Okay. And then if I go here. Yeah. So, they all take damage, but it looks like it’s reduced. Well, that seems cool. I mean, it definitely seems like this guy’s more of a group character rather than a solo character. I mean, the game literally described him as a support. So, I guess that’s the whole idea there. Anyway, now we get to test out the one I was really excited to play. Undertaker, baby. Hell yeah. Okay, we got a normal role here. And what do you do? Undertaker, an abbis who was mandated by her monastery to slay the night lord. Her uncanny strength belies her physique, leading others to keep her at a distance and eventually assign her the unenviable task of burying the dead. Boasting impressive strength and faith, she is an unassuming gatekeeper to the afterlife who annihilates enemies with ruthless efficiency. Her preference is hammers. And yeah, it looks like she’s a strength faith character. Let’s see what shenanigans you can get up to. Also, I like her outfit, by the way. It’s like very cool. Okay, her hammer has prayerful strike on it. That’s kind of cool. Ooh, look at this move set. Does it work if I uh two-hand? She does have a unique two-handed move set. Very cool. And her charged heavies don’t suck. Look at this. Oh my god, she’s already better than Raider. Okay, hold on. Um, so her passive confluence can activate ultimate art when allies or foes execute certain attacks. Wait, what? Allies execution of art enables additional art activation regardless of gauge. Oh, wait. It says uh foes. So, like, do enemies do certain attacks that let me uh use my ult whenever I want? Anyway, character skill trance. Bloodletting triggers the power of the Loathom Hex, which is my ults, I guess. Triangle plus L2 to activate. Hold triangle and L2 with max art gauge for an enhanced attack or press R2 while holding. Wait, what? So, does this all have to do with my alt? I don’t really understand. Hold on, let me summon you. I don’t know what that just did. Okay, I can move really fast for some reason. Hold on. What does this do? Oh my What the [ __ ] was that? Hold on. Okay. What if I do this and then I do this? Oh, it gives me like an auto dodge. Well, hold on. Okay, I have unlimited uses on. So, let me change that. Can activate ultimate art when allies or foes execute certain attacks. I don’t Okay, let me try this again. So, if I press the button, what happens? I have a character skill on. Okay, that didn’t seem to do anything for me. Hold triangle and L2 with max art gauge enhanced attack. Well, I have max art gauge. So, what if I do this? Okay, now I have an auto dodge on. I don’t know. Is that a buff of some kind or Oh, it eats my art gauge. I see. All right. What happens if I activate it without having my ult? Wait, is that just a damage buff? All right, hold. Okay, so I summon you. Bop bop bop. Okay, so that’s about 100 damage a hit. If I activate my skill, it does give me a damage buff. Okay, it also buffs my uh my dodge, it looks like. And that’s even if I’m not with the art gauge. So, do I ever want to do the other one? Cuz like Okay, hold on. If I hold this, the damage buff looks to be the same. I think this just Yeah, that gives me an auto dodge. I got it. Okay, so that might be worth it otherwise. But then is my alt just like a regular nuke or press R2 while holding triangle and L2? Oh, the cool down’s shorter if I use it like that, I think. or it looks smaller cuz I have more of the gauge down there. Press R2 while holding triangle and L2. So, if I do this and I press R2. Oh, it just makes it go faster. I see. I think I understand how this character works. And by I think I understand how she works, I mean I have absolutely no [ __ ] idea. Wait, what is this shifting earth? The great hollow. A great cavity in the depths of Limved. A sacred tower can be seen from the waterfall and the hollow is strewn with giant crystals. Much of it is decrepit and the ground is cracking open. Okay. Okay. I guess that’s just a new shifting earth. We have one new night lord here, the balancers. I thought there were supposed to be two. Sleep is effective on the balancers. Interesting. Seven Valkyries clad and white armor. Wait, what is this? A seven-way gank fight? Good lord. Well, all right. I guess we’re starting with them. Yeah, I thought there were two new night lords. Well, maybe I have to beat the first one and then I get to fight the second one. Anyway, let me uh throw some relics on here. Uh I guess we could throw that on. Improved stance breaking sounds good. and then increased rune acquisition for self. Sure, I don’t need uh depth relics, do I? Now, under normal circumstances, I would probably throw on the Everjale relic, but from what I understand, this shifting earth is like a new map, I think. And I don’t really know what the Everjale situation’s going to look like. So, maybe we go without it, and then if it feels like I kind of need it, I guess we can always throw it on later. Anyway, let’s see what this uh new boss is all about. Whoa. What the f Hold on. Wow. Yeah, they weren’t kidding. This is a whole new map. Look at this [ __ ] I don’t even see any ever gels on the map. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t put that on. Stop. All right, hold on. We’re using the character skill damage buff. Massive. Okay, now we loot. Going to grab everything, I guess. Oh, what’s this? Acquired a local clue. I have absolutely no idea. Uh, okay. Where am I going first? Guess over here. I got to figure out how to navigate this map better, though, cuz like I don’t know. I feel like it’s not super clear what a lot of these objectives are. I mean, obviously this is something I can do. I guess this is something I can do. I just need to figure out how to like get to these things and what they’re there for, you know? Oh, I have prayerful strike. What the [ __ ] am I? I feel like that’d be really good on the other guy. Let’s go level up and then we’ll see what the church is all about. There’s a giant ball in the middle of the church. Is that the boss? Well, honestly, this is actually kind of fine cuz uh my main issue outside of the demon princes just being a nuisance is the fact that on that map, I genuinely just don’t know where to go or like how to get a build together. So, if nothing else, this will at least enable me to kind of get something usable together. Although, it looks like there’s new objectives on the map. I should go see what those are all about. But first, we shall bully this guy. I missed the backstab because I’m bad. Okay, we are level three. Uh, I don’t really think there’s any reason for me to do ever jails this early cuz I don’t have a relic on. Let us take the tree and go down here. Maybe. And I think once I solve that problem, everything else will kind of fall into place, you know. And then Scholar, I mean, I have no idea how Scholar is going to be cuz uh it said he’s a support character, which means I’m probably going to have to play in a group. As much as I’d have liked to get a victory against that boss, honestly, that wasn’t too bad for the first time seeing it. I think for the next video, I’ll definitely be back on Undertaker cuz I do want to learn this character better and figure out how her skills are supposed to synergize. And I’ll also try to check out Scholar, depending on how that goes. And I do want to go back into that other Shifting Earth so I can figure out what the heck it is I’m supposed to be doing on that map. This DLC seems like it’s got plenty for me to check out, and I’m definitely going to be pumping out the content on it.
