A First Look At The Insane ARK Lost Colony DLC
What is going on my guys? Welcome back to Ark. So today we are checking out this brand new DLC, Lost Colony. It has just released and let us hop into this one. Uh starting out with skipping the trailer. Sorry if you want to watch it. Okay. Um we’re just spawning in here. Really excited for this one. They have hyped this DLC up a ton. Survivor, you’ve been infected by red elements. >> Okay, >> but I kept you from being firing. >> Looks like we have H LNA back in the game. >> Just like we did over on uh Genesis >> at least until Lost King figures out how I’ve accessed it. >> Okay, so wow, pretty uh interesting looking map here. >> And together we can help you reach safety. >> Very cityesque. find a way in >> with the uh >> so you can transmit it across the galaxy. >> Dude, this isn’t running the best, but with the uh big force field in the sky. >> You can do this. >> Looks like Okay, dude. >> Hear me, my thr. >> Lots and lots to take in here. Wow, check out this city. >> We will find you and bring you back. Do not fear. >> Absolutely massive >> sustenance to us. You have tasted of our life force and begun your journey to become one of us. One of the lost. >> And there are NPCs on these dinos here. >> Very interesting. Something we have not seen before. All right, they’re all pissed off now. Oh my gosh, there’s a turret right here. Can I blow this up? No structures. Let’s try a rocket. Yesesh, dude. This guy’s got a pistol. He’s shooting at me. Oh, and then the turrets turn on. Okay. Yesesh, dude. Don’t mess around over here. Don’t piss off one of these guys. The whole Oh, dude. He’s got a flamethrower. These guys aren’t messing around. Wow. This is okay. So, this looks like it’s it’s similar to like an extinction um drop or uh like an element vein where it’s like a little mission and you’re trying to destroy all these structures here and they’re going to be defended by all of these guys on their dinos and stuff. Oh my gosh, look at this big barb in my head. These guys drop little uh little bags. Okay, dude. This is pretty hectic. I’m not going to lie. Getting shot again over here. Look, look how insane that was. If you are going to attempt this mission to start off, be sure you are prepared for it, dude. This is like insanity. Tons and tons of dinos and NPCs trying to kill me here. Yesesh. Okay, maybe we should get out of here uh now. But that’s interesting. I mean, right off the bat, it looks like this map is very NPCheavy. We kind of saw this in some of the bosses on Genesis 2 or Genesis 1 as well. Oh, okay. And here’s the main generator for this little mission we have. So, I’m I’m betting your dinos can just destroy the structures here. You could probably run this with like some decent tamed dinos or something like that. But wow, pretty cool. So, they’ve got their little base in here. None of this is like lootable, right? Yeah, it doesn’t look like it, but that’s like a pretty cool little mission. I wonder what kind of loot you get for um completing it. >> You have more heading this way. >> All right, I’m going to stop blowing things up. I just wanted to kind of see how far um we could get. But yeah, we’re going to we’re going to leave that mission for now and keep looking around. Looks like this whole city is like crawling with these NPCs like crazy. These guys are riding Thas and Saber-tooths. These guys, there’s people everywhere in this city. I’m not sure if if like they aggro you if you’re just walking around or you have to attack them. >> You finally made it to the upper city. where my most esteemed children are to be found free of worry and insecurity. You could be quite comfortable here. >> All right. So, here’s where the map ends. So, there’s like that lower city and then like a big circle in the upper city. I guess I wonder if this is element. I just think that cuz like on over on what is that crystal iss like the crystal is the element. I was wondering if this kind of looked like that, but maybe not. Maybe it’s just crystal. But this map mostly it looks like it’s mostly like going to be a frozen tundra. I haven’t seen anywhere that isn’t doesn’t have like snow on it. So yeah, I think that you better be prepared to be cold if you want to play this map. Maybe these are just crystals. Okay, but there’s manas on this map. Here is that new thing. I don’t even know what this is. is I know it came out a little bit ago, but I just haven’t kept up with it. Let’s head over here. So, yeah, it is snowy as far as the eye can see on this map. Let’s check this out. Wow. Very Is this This is real. I can walk in this very long tunnel here, dude. You could actually build this tunnel. If you built defenses on either side, you’d have a ton of space. >> Imagine your own fum out here. Bend the >> more city over here. >> I’ll reward you a secluded bit of these borderlands. An outpost of your own to defend. >> Let’s keep looking around. Oh, here’s a new dino. I don’t even know what this is. It’s like a little mana type of thing. It’s shooting an ice beam. Let’s check it out really quick. Oh, this thing is fast. So, it looks like it has a little ice beam. Kind of similar to the mana. Just a little ground mount though. Interesting. So, more snow. More snow world border right there. Let’s keep checking things out. Oh, is this uh >> this has to be the worst of the >> Oh, yeah. So, this is like the toxic water like that’s over on aberration. >> Don’t want to fall in here. >> Charge when you need one. Wait, these these guys are just like roaming around. >> So, it looks like there’s like >> aggro NPCs running around everywhere on the whole map, not just in the city. >> They don’t even drop anything either. >> But if you did make it, it must have a >> Let’s see. Okay. Do we We got snow owls. We got a cave entrance here. This cave it seems is pretty massive. Let’s see. Oh, hey, look. There’s Desmotuses up here. OP dino. I love those. So, this cave is absolutely huge. It’s like the underworld on the center. kind of little pathway goes all the way up. Betty there’s some decent base spots in there. >> Building that opens into a cabin is worth investigating. Feel the heat. >> Let’s keep moving here. >> Here’s your chance to thor out a bit. >> So, there’s the entrance to the cave right there. Um, yeah. It seems that this entire map is like a frozen tundra. It doesn’t seem like there’s anywhere that’s not. I don’t think it’s that cold, though. If you look at like the top left of my screen, it’s 35°, so it’s not like warm, but you wouldn’t you’re not going to like freeze to death instantly, which is helpful at least. Yeah, this just ends here. There’s these little toxic rivers all across the map, which is kind of a bummer. That’s going to make it a little bit harder to get water and things like that. There’s a lot of stuff here like that looks like it’s from Genesis 2. Like this weird little plant. This is different than the ones on there. But let’s see. Can I mine this? I’m getting mushrooms from it. Okay. Be careful around those. They could eat you. I don’t even know. So, let’s keep looking. I’m kind of curious. uh where people are going to try to build their bases over here. It really seems like it’s very flat and there’s not like a lot of mountains or caves or things like that. So, there is like some some spots you might be able to find some rat holes in here for like some smaller tribe base locations, but I don’t know. It seems like it’s just the big city and then like just a flat tundra kind of. >> Ah, you found the great western bridge built to access the highlands to our west by a sedicious lord desperate to regain my favor. Alas, it was completed too late. >> All right, so let’s check out some of the new items. I haven’t really even looked what is available yet. So, let’s see this. Okay, so there’s a new set of armor, Arctic Scout. It looks like it’s like the similar to flack. Um, it says it reduces stamina if you have the full thing on. That’s kind of cool, I guess. Um, lights hollow decoy grenade. So, this looks like it’s like a decoy grenade. You throw it and it will project like a survivor and then people it’ll take the aggro away from tames and things like that. Fabricated crossbow. Looks pretty cool. All right, so here is the new armor. Pretty good looking actually. I mean, I’m not one for skins too much, but looks pretty cool. And let’s check out this um fabricated crossbow. I’m assuming it’s quite it does quite a bit more damage than the normal one. That’ll be useful for taming things as well. Here. Here it is. All right. So, it looks like it has a lot less drop than the normal crossbow. I bet it does some decent damage, too. So, that could be nice early game. Let’s check out. We got a medical stand. Makes blood packs. That’s pretty cool. That’s super useful for taming um desmotuses. So, here’s the medical stand. I just wanted to see how this work. You just can like connect it up to uh any sort of dyno, it looks like. And then yeah, let’s see. So, we’ve connected it and then we can switch what it’s doing. It can like incre or decrease torpour or we want it to create blood packs now. >> What a cute little kit. Poor thing looks lonely. Maybe if you come in low and slow. >> Okay. And here are blood packs. That’s actually pretty nice, dude. You get like a nice blood pack farm from that. Hold to activate. Just look at the >> outpost defense small. >> Whatever killed my children might be on it. >> Collect repair materials and use them to build defenses around the >> outposts and ready your fortification. >> I think this is similar to what we did earlier where we’re going to get like some w a wave of dinos or something and they’re going to try to attack this. That’s not one way structure slot. So, okay. I can set up >> defenses around this while >> put up an auto turret. Dang, dude. That’s pretty cool. >> So, it looks like you can like set up defenses and we’re going to have like a horde of enemies from that other side. And then, um, we’re trying to defend this tower here, similar again to like an extinction wave. Okay. Okay. And it’s from these little zombie guys again. This thing is not dying. Dang, dude. So, this isn’t from dinos. It’s from zombies. They’re playing Call of Duty all over again 10 years later. Dude, these guys are actually destroying this tower super fast. If you look at the health, this is going to be pretty difficult. Uh if you’re going to attempt this, maybe get quite a few team uh tribe members and some good dinos cuz Yeah, look how fast they’re killing this thing. Yeah, that was that’s actually going to be a little bit hard, I think. Wow. Okay, so something I realized is the NPCs in the city, they drop you gear, like pretty decent gear some of the times. Like let’s go here. Let’s go find some more. I would be careful though. I feel like they could actually kill you pretty easy, especially with the ones with like um these theenos, dude. Like milk clap you. Let’s see though. Dude, their like yell, their screams are kind of gruesome. I’m not going to lie. Oh, dude. Like, look at that. I got a full set of flack from that guy. Some other gear from this one. Some med bruise. Okay. Yeah, dude. They’re like little screams when they die. I don’t know. That seems a little excessive. Maybe I can mute that or something. It’s kind of sad. But yeah, they are giving us some some nice starter game gear. >> Closed to the general public. Okay, so here is it looks like this is the boss arena. >> You will never be somewhere inside his palace. Let’s just hope this lost king >> opens up. This seems like it’s really similar to like Rockwell on Genesis 2 where it’s going to teleport us and then I’m betting we just have to fight like a bunch of NPCs to get to the end of the boss. Okay, pretty cool. Yeah, I’m not going to go through this whole thing. I don’t want to ruin the boss for you guys, but this map actually looks uh very NPCheavy. >> All righty, boys.
