The original 3DS looks luxurious with its glossy metallic finish giving it a premium feel. The extendable metal stylus adds a refined touch and the black top screen bezel creates a cinematic presentation that makes games feel more immersive.

It stands as the best-designed 3DS overall, even if the "New" models are objectively better to play on.

I have one but can’t for the life of me find replacement thing sticks, I find 2ds, xl, but not CTR-001 thumb sticks.

    2. I have to agree, been using a cosmic black model for the past couple of months, found one with refurbed screens, absolutely love it. Also found a solution to the stupid vertical line issue, if you place a business card between the screens when closed, it doesn’t cause that dust line.

Too small unfortunately but the designs are beautiful, love the gloss and how the top half is all black.

I don’t really like it. Sure, the design is stellar but I prefer consoles to be textured so it doesn’t feel like it’s slipping out of my hands

    5. Stylus being shoved in the back and tiny or flimsy extendable sucks, but besides that it’s nice

I have a cobalt blue one and I bought my wife a purple one back in the day. Love them both.

Looks the coolest yes but all DS models need an ergo grip to be played long hours without nerve pain.

Totally agree, the OG 3DS design is peak aesthetics. For some reason, it always reminded me of glossy hard candy 🙂

If I had to rank my personal top 3 for the whole lineup, the New 2DS XL would take the second spot. It has such a cool ‘toy’ vibe and feels like the most refined design of the bunch. Third place would go to the standard New 3DS (non-XL) — it’s just so neat, compact, and the swappable faceplates are awesome

    9. I loved the color with the clear layer over it. It was very glossy. I had to be careful to keep it clean and scratch free.

When upgrading to the New3DS I could go back because of the stabilized 3D. Plus the cover plates are a fun way to personalize your system.

    10. Great design! The original model felt more premium than what came after it.

The bright green ‘3D’ LED is iconic. They should never have removed it in the later models that supported 3D.
