I put this one up on SCUD but I will share it here too on the off-chance Valve comes across it here rather than on SCUD:

Ever since the October 2022 overhaul to the Steam Mobile app, it seems that support for Notification Channels, which were implemented as part of Oreo/8.x, has been completely forgotten about.

While there are several notification channels listed in the Notifications section of Steam's App info that would suggest that you could granularly control the behavior of different types of notifications, this is not the case in practice after the October 2022 overhaul.

What actually ends up happening is that all notifications, including Steam Guard-related notifications for confirming new logons/Steam Community trading and Steam Community Market listings, get shoved under the bottom "Remote Notification Received" channel, making it impossible to control notification behavior based on what the content of the notification is.

For example, my main motivation behind this SCD thread is that I don't want "You have a new friend request" notifications to vibrate my phone, or even pop on screen at all, considering that 99.9% of them nowadays are easily detectable impersonator/scam bots. Or if a game's on sale, perhaps I'd rather it just go silently into the Silent section of the notification shade. But obviously, I would like that behavior if someone's trying to break into my account and trips Steam Guard. Either I have to shut off vibration for everything, or leave it on, and that's just not right.

    1. I have zero problems with steam notifications on Android. However, I generally keep my notifications clear and don’t have a trillion other apps installed fighting for notification space
