Okay. This may sound extremely weird and extremely stupid, but just hear me out.
The next time you travel to somewhere tropical, bring it with you.
I had a 3DS with the exact same issue, and brought it on a trip to Mexico, and it fixed itself almost instantly. I think it has something to do with the air pressure or humidity, but I don’t really know.
I’m just throwing this out there because it worked for me. (And it did stay fixed after coming home)
