I know this has been talked about a lot, but I just wanted to share my experience with both cases. While I love how aesthetically pleasing the clear hard shell looks, it’s very difficult to put on and remove. It honestly feels like I’m about to accidentally break my New 3DS. Even when I’m extra careful, I still worry about scratching the paint even more. But hey, one upside is that the slightly “loose” top screen I experienced when tilting my New 3DS downward no longer moves because the case supports the hinge.
Now let’s talk about the TPU case. This one feels much safer because of its silicone material. It fits snugly and won’t scratch the paint. I’ve also heard from others that it offers good protection against drops due to its shock-absorption capabilities. The downside for me is the translucent look, but I’m choosing to see the positive side—it hides the normal paint scratches from being loved by the previous owner. I know it’ll yellow over time, but honestly, I’m fine with that. As long as it keeps my beloved New 3DS safe and sound, I’m satisfied.
Overall, I’d prefer TPU Case over Clear Hard Case. Don’t mind the price of TPU case since it’s good for protecting your 3DS.

My only gripe with TPU is that it doesn’t quite support the wobbly hinge like the clear case does. The extra play in the hinge is intended but I like it to be more sturdy which the clear case provides.
My units are all encased with the hard ones. No problems on my end.
Tpu > hard for me too. Btw I’m searching for tpu cases for older models like Ds lite or dsi. Do you know if they exists and where?
