Why Global Memory Issues Are Causing A Massive Drop In Nintendos Stock Price (-33%) But Not Sonys

      * Nintendo was unable to say it has secured memory supply, unlike Sony which stated it has secured a certain level of components. Sony has been selling alot of PS5s for years (even outselling the Switch 2 in the final months of last year) so they have been manafacturing alot of PS5s for a long time and acted to get on top of it as soon as the shortages began looking like a issue
      * Sony’s business is more diversified with things like anime, music, movies, TV, manga, other electronics. The core of Nintendo’s business is video games. Switch 2 hardware accounts for a large part of the business and having less profit margins on Switch 2 will more directly impact its performance. 2 of the biggest Movies last year were from Sony: Demon Slayer distributed by Sony and Kpop Demon Hunters produced by Sony, and Nintendo is even having Sony make the Zelda movie
      * About 20% of PlayStation revenue comes from PS Plus subscription service while only a small percentage of Nintendo revenue comes from the NSO subscription service. Alot of peoply buy Sony consoles for AAA multiplayer games like COD and Sports Games. That gives Sony a bit more stability while Nintendo’s revenue is heavily dependent on hardware and software sales.

      Just entirely false lmao.
I have stocks in both. They BOTH have dropped similarly. Looking at my etrade account now.

How about lets quit the bullshit and lying in headlines for clicks

    3. It’s not as black and white as this article wants it to be. The ram issue is a bit overblown. I think a bigger issue is the lack of direction and future. We’re approaching one year and the majority of the experiences on the NS2 are either previous generation games that are five years old, or NS2 versions of games from the OG Switch. The games that are coming out like 007 and Requiem will likely be a better experience on the PS5 anyways.

So what are we left with? DK Bananza, which was solid but not a console mover, MKW, which was always going to struggle filling the shoes of the GOAT party racer, and Pokémon Z-A, which honestly, that series is struggling hard.

And what is in the future? Yoshi? Is that going to move consoles? No Mario announcement, and no Zelda announcement, and generally Zelda games come out 2-3 years after an announcement.

That’s why it’s struggling so bad right now. I’m a bit concerned about them. This is feeling eerily similar to how the Wii U felt in the early days.
