What do I do in this situation? Should I try to replace it myself or send it somewhere? I just expected for the rubber thumb pad to break at some point, not the whole part.
It doesn’t matter if the whole thing broke off, the fix usually involves replacing the whole part anways. I did it myself but please do keep in mind that you need to be careful with the shoulder button ribbon cables

Pretty easy replacement. Watch a video or read a guide, order the part, and it’ll take less than an hour to fix. Or you could send it in somewhere and spend a ludicrous amount of money and lose the console for a few days for a relatively zero risk fix.

I ordered a replacement for about 10 bucks on Amazon. Just watch YouTube video of a guy doing it and be careful not to break anything but it’s not that hard took about 5 minutes.

Just a simple ribbon connector. Anyone can replace.
