    Why are people acting like this is the first time Nintendo has ever been woke



    I don't mean to sound like a bigot at all but Nintendo was been "woke" since debately the GameCube era miis themselves have gotten rid of traditional gender roles for 8 years there are multiple gay trans and non binary Nintendo characters the most special thing about this is that we got ace reps now which is great but this is far from the the first gay Nintendo character

      Its just people celebrating the inclusion after there being no options in the original.

      I can’t wait for the Grifters on YouTube to make numerous videos over an option in a game most of them were unlikely to buy or even play as they act like giving a third option for certain people to identify will suddenly destroy Nintendo and gaming as we know it.

      Never understand why some people would be against *more* options for players? Such a strange mindset! Nothing’s been replaced – just more flexibility for players.

      I just find it funny that I have not seen anything from the direct besides this. In the last three hours I’ve seen this screen being post so many times but I literally havent seen anything else from the direct

      nintendo has always been fairly progressive, they just don’t go around circle jerking about it

      which is nice because it shows they actually care and aren’t just doing it for money

      That is the always the absolute cringiest word I’ve ever heard. Whenever someone says it, I immediately lose all respect for them due to how absolute stupid they sound. Lol

      Especially when they use that to describe something like having a female character in a game as the protagonist or someone who prefers the same sex. When people said that about the X-Men ’97 show I laughed out loud.

      I think it’s because nintendo hasn’t used such a direct term for a gender option in a while

      They usually go like “choose your form” or “how do you look?” They always find a way to sugarcoat using direct terms

      So it is kinda surprising they straight up used the word Non-Binary, like other games usually use “genderless” “unknown” or “i don’t know”, but here’s just straight up: male, female, or nonbinary?
