Couldn’t possibly be their fool of a CEO, incessant pushing of AI that nobody asked for, inability to maintain support for products they say they will maintain support for, or laughably horrible track record of breaking things with automatic updates. Couldn’t be any of those right?
Definitely has nothing to do with putting everything behind a subscription and license model instead of allowing ownership, right?
I mean, no way it’s any of those things. Blame the gamers!

Meanwhile Playstation’s revenue is going up year after year. Keep blaming Xbox, Microsoft. These corpo suits don’t understand the first thing about gaming.

Maybe MS tanking value and revenue from all the AI investments that haven’t worked out well get is new MS executives 🤞.
We live in the worst possible timeline though, so probably not

* Little to no advertising
* Ridiculously large price increase for Gamepass
* No mid-gen refresh of the hardware
* Hardware prices higher than at launch
* No decent sales for over 2 years on hardware
* Portable that isn’t an XBox even though it says it is
Color me surprised.

Xbox have been completely incompetent. They raised prices of subscriptions like game pass, they raised prices of the hardware twice, and this call of duty game this year didn’t hit like they expected. If you keep raising prices, all the while delivering less quality, yeah, no shit. This is gonna happen.
They don’t even try to push the hardware anymore, and this in a year where GTA is supposed to release… so I’m not exactly sure how they expect to increase the revenue. If the subscriptions are more expensive, the games aren’t getting better and the 5yo hardware is also getting more expensive. Did you think that people were just gonna keep giving you money just because?
Grand theft auto could’ve been a good opportunity for them to start pushing the hardware again and they’re not even smart enough to do that.

On the plus side, games get price drops faster on Xbox versus other platforms. Or at least the JRPGs

The only reason to even own an Xbox at this point is Game Pass, and they gave it a massive price increase to the point where it’s only worth it if you’re a gaming addict that actually likes all of the Xbox Game Studios games.
Xbox brand so weak on PC that they couldn’t even get ASUS to release their Windows 11 handheld as the “Xbox ROG Ally” instead of the “ROG Xbox Ally”.

I have over 1300 bought games on Xbox and normally this would be the time for me to pre order Pragmata, Resi Requiem, Fatal Frame 2, James Bond, Lego Batman, .. So yeah, Im one of the guys people in forums hate and companies love, but I lost trust in Xbox and Im thinking about buying those games on Steam and switching to PC
What Im trying to say is, Im sure Im not the only one who is heavily invested into Xbox and actually buys many new AAA games (and also many indies of course) who doesnt want to buy stuff from MS anymore.

Leaving aside the obvious decrease in revenue, is the headline clickbait or what? I know the idiots in suits will say so, we assume that’s what they’re saying. But nowhere in the article is that stated, nor is the headline repeated. These are the so-called journalists who are supposed to inform you later.

-$649.99 for your flagship console (was $499.99)
-No holiday sales: PlayStation your competitor was over $100 off
-To have online access you have to pay $100 a year ($25/qtr) since you got rid of the annual plan.
-$29.99 a month for your best tier of Gamepass (50% increase)
-Putting all 1st party games on PlayStation
I blame greed.

It’s really a shame to see how far the Xbox brand has sunken over just the passed handful of years or so. Losing Games With Gold, all of these price hikes, the backwards compatibility program being shuttered. I’ve hesitated on purchasing a Series X, but I can’t help but feel as if I dodged a bullet big time by neglecting to invest in it and sticking to PC. The box has literally lost more features than it gained since its launch, and only became more expensive.
Not shedding any tears since this is still a brand owned by one of the biggest companies in the world, but I’ll always remember the Xbox brand fondly, just for the 360 era. Microsoft really has no one else to blame but themselves. If buying near every major publisher is indicative of anything, it’s that they’ve got more than enough capital to steer the ship in the right direction, and it’s either blatant sabotage of the brand which led them to where it is today, or the simple fact that they aren’t paying enough attention to what their consumer base actually wants, nothing new for them though.

Give us a good value service then. What do we get instead? Enshitified services with massive price hikes. Fuck off.
Maybe they should ask their AI how to increase revenue?
