Look, I can understand everyone wanted a Direct that featured first-party games. But can we stop with this foolish argument that third-parties don’t matter or that there is no audience for them on Nintendo consoles. They have mattered since the NES era.

    1. I can understand people are anxious to see Nintendo’s first-party offering, and I can even get a Third-party Direct was not what everyone wanted.

But I see a narrative that these are a waste of time and that nobody buys or cares for Third-party games on Nintendo platforms.

Which is an argument that falls flat right away when you realize Third-party support has been a key part of the ecosystem of Nintendo platforms since the NES.

In fact, it’s often cited that little to no Third-party support is what hurt systems like the Wii U.

So, while I don’t expect everyone to get excited for a partner showcase, the fact that we are having one speaks volumes to how strong the Switch and Switch 2 are as platforms right now.

    2. Why yes, Paper Mario’s Partners existed way back on the NES and Famicon and not originally on something like N64
