frustrating issue with my New 3DS XL and hoping someone can help me figure out what’s going on.

I’ve had this 3DS for a couple of weeks and it worked perfectly. I played Pokémon Sun on it, the card reader worked fine, cameras worked, speakers were loud and clear, and the top IPS screen was beautiful, barely scratched. It’s never been dropped, spilled on, or damaged in any way, and I even kept a protective casing on it the whole time. Everything worked exactly as it should.

Then, out of nowhere, it started acting up. The first sign was that it wouldn’t turn on at all. I had to connect it to the charger and wait about 5 minutes for it to power on. From that point on, it began freezing and lagging hard. Some examples:

    • Moving the 3D slider takes a couple of seconds to respond

    • Moving the volume slider also delays a few seconds

    • Home and power buttons sometimes don’t respond at all

    • While this is happening, the game in the background (Pokémon or others) still runs fine

    • Restarting the console doesn’t fix it; sometimes it freezes during the boot as well

Now, it won’t boot at all. The battery is fully charged, and I even tried replacing it with a new battery I bought online, but the issue persists. The charging light is also delayed when connecting a charger, it takes several seconds to show, and sometimes even after unplugging the charger it still shows as charging.

This console is in pristine condition physically, It was briefly modded with some games like Luigi Mansion, but I don’t know if that’s related.

I’ve tried everything I can think of, but I’m out of ideas. Should I just take it to a repair shop, or does anyone have suggestions on what could be causing these severe booting, freezing, and charging issues?

Thanks in advance for any help!
