I could just about accept the idea of xbox ads with my game pass subscription. But, especially with prices going up, I’m really fed up that I have to see supermarket adverts now too
Dunno what else to say, just really f*cked off that with the top tier subscription for game pass I still have to see adverts for things completely unrelated to gaming.
Yeah Playstation doesnt have dashboard ads or full screen boot up ads, idk why Xbox thinks thats ok for a console

I have been splitting my gaming time between Xbox and PC for a while. When Game Pass jumped to $30/month in the US I decided to cancel.
I then bought 3x 3 month game pass gift cards.
I haven’t even used them.
After 20+ years of gaming with Xbox in fully over it.

If you donāt want to see them then set up a PI-hole and take control of your network.
You will still see Xbox or first party related ads as they are served through the service therefore blocking them would break functionality like the Xbox store or updates etc. but any third party ones will be blocked.
Not to mention it works network wide. So no ads anywhere else either phone, websites, streaming services etc. of course unless the ads are served through first party or direct inline services.

I can’t say I have ever seen an ad on my Xbox dashboard, ever. I’m also blocking quite a bit at my firewall level, so it could be that, but I’m unsure what domain they serve their ads from. I’ll have to look at the logs one day.

Obligatory posts about “They aren’t ads their recommendations” and “Play games don’t spend time on your dashboard”.
People always excusing ads, I’ve been calling them out for over a decade and the defense still blows my mind. PlayStation doesn’t have ads. Switch doesn’t have ads. My iPhone doesn’t have ads on theĀ home screen. Windows doesn’t slap ads on your desktop. No clue why anyone would think it’s acceptable for the Xbox Dashboard to be literally 90%Ā *not your games or apps*.

I got this as well.

So dumb. Ads about newly released games or sales? Sure, Iāve actually clicked on those a few time
But non-Xbox related ads? Ridiculous

Never seen anything like that honestly. Usually it’s game related or Store promotions.Ā

Xbox is toast. Just leave it behind. I kind of hate that I bought the series x.
Did play a few ok games on it but nothing great. Well senua was great actually, but the rest of the games are just ok at best. Most of the Xbox exclusives were just bad.

Xbox ads are way out of control. I’m tired of every platform just devolving into a digital billboard over time.

i dont get why so many people make a big deal out of this. launch your game and stop looking at the dashboard maybe?
