Over the years, I’ve taken very good care of my N3DS, and it’s in great condition overall besides these really ugly hinge scratches. I’ve always had a huge thing against even the slightest of scratches. I know these are barely noticable, I know hinge scratches happen over time no matter what you do, but they just bother me so much man 😭
For reference, I’ve reshelled DS consoles before, and I’m at the point now where it’s not too hard for me. All I would have to do is just replace the inner top faceplate since the console overall is in very good condition.

I think you should keep the OEM shell, don’t swap it over a few tiny scratches.
Put a vinyl skin over it if you’re annoyed by it but can’t be bothered reshelling (it is a lot of effort).
I have one on mine and it comes with one for the inside of the hinge 🙂 So it would cover it right up.

I would say the risk vs reward is skewed towards risk. I have reshelled several Ds and 3ds consoles, and damage to components can happen even if you are careful and take your time. For cosmetic damage like that I would personally just try to live with it
