Spraypainted front- and backplate for my Boyfriend’s present :)

This was my Christmas gift to my bf!!

I originally got the 3ds with pink backplates.. literally almost new condition and since I have my own special edition 3ds, I decided that this would be my bf's Christmas gift (this was in August).

Ordered white backplates (5) and sanded them down (6). Then prepped them (7) and spray painted them (8+9). Sadly I didn’t really do the first coat evenly and sanded too much down on a few spots later on, on the backplate.. so another coat for the bottomplate (10)!

Messed the frontplate up too with too much sanding, so another coat on there too! I did all of this outside, which is why the paint dried really messed up (11, 12, 13). Did a test topcoat on the frontplate anyway and also turned out kinda horrible and wonky.. I think I don’t need to say much about the backplate here lol, i was getting really frustrated (14). I ended up sanding them down really carefully with a 600 and doing no topcoat, since a case/shell wouldn’t have fit with the topcoat and it looks glossy due to the shell anyway.

This took me too much effort, ngl, if the first coat would’ve been perfect + if I wouldn’t have sanded down so much, I wouldn’t have needed so much time and effort.. especially since I began the project, when I first got ill, so it kinda took a toll on me lol. Atleast I now have the experience to know what to do, if I every spray paint another 3ds.. hope you had fun reading about my horrible work and troubles 🙂
