    1. True, but also, you made a game that was disliked by the vast majority of people that gave it a try.

That’s a whole lot of weeping and deflecting to say your game fucking sucked. If it were good then people would have seen that at launch and continued playing it… but they didn’t. Has nothing to do with angry Twitter mobs and whoever else you want to blame in a pathetic attempt for sympathy. The game was just shit. Shut up about it and go make a better one.

    3. Wonder why that was the immediate reaction to people seeing your game. Probably points to ponder, there.

    4. While the game has some big issues that the team needed to figure out, it was unfair how some GAMERS ripped it apart due to outrage around *checks notes* some guy hyping it at a game promotional event.

Live service launches are a minefield with most of the biggest issues related to the community and content creators pushing negativity for their own profit (engagement) or politics (hating on anything that isn’t for straight white dudes and gooners).

This game has some issues that the team would have caught if they did more beta testing and listened to reasonable people in the community, but it got ripped apart by folks who didn’t even give it a shot.

100k people played it concurrently on day one, it just was in an over saturated market with an unattractive art style and confusing messaging that failed to retain players.

Game publishers need to really study the MMO days, high guard is the equivalent a generic MMO that is a fart in the wind trying to chase WOW success.

    6. My big sticking point is that it doesn’t stand out from any similar games. The medieval fantasy theme is cool, but they still have guns, making it feel much more generic. If they committed to it being swords & sorcery, it would have a much stronger identity.

    7. Kinda enjoying the response from the devs at Build a Rocket Boy and now also at Wildlight where the response to their failed product is not to blame themselves but to blame the consumer or content creators. Have you not considered the fact that people called it Concord 2 because of what happened to Concord? Was there no internal play tests where you got asked the question if you were worried about the game turning into a situation like Concord? Idk man, it’s great and all to have a vision for a game, but if the consumers don’t see that vision and instead just see a bland game, that’s how your game is going to be treated.

You launched a game that is literally Over -> High and Watch -> Guard and made it a hero shooter on horseback. What else are we to do but mock you?

    9. The game looked boring in the announcement and it was even worse when i tried it. I want my 3 hours back

    10. The hate this game received was unreal.

This game is FREE. There are expensive games out there way worse than this that get a pass for some reason.

    11. Unfortunate case of dead before launch due to a bad fan reaction to something that isn’t even game related.

One of the weirdest reasons I’ve seen a game review bombed, for lack of follow up trailers and promo after the game awards (saw way to many “how come we haven’t heard anything more from Highguard? That MUST mean the game is bad. I’ve already made my decision)

    12. The fact of the matter is that almost 100k people played this game on launch day and collectively went ‘nah’.

      The game wasn’t good.

    13. I don’t think I’m a smart person by any stretch but watching the trailer at TGA, like it just looked like there was no shot this would succeed. The setting and characters did not seem cool or interesting whatsoever

Honestly, it’s a fun game. Far from perfect, but fun.

I still believe that this game would perform better if they didn’t announce it as the “one last thing” at the game awards.
