Did some work on my newly purchased 3DS today. New buttons, fixed the thumb stick, got a good cleaning. New shell. New hinge. New screen glass coming in the mail.
Anyone have trouble fitting aftermarket shells? They seem to be off just enough to drive you crazy.
Yeah I had a rough time with my aftermarket shell, especially the top. The bottom wasn’t terrible. I have an acrylic case that goes over both sides, and it’s doing some of the work of keeping the top shell on and (mostly) lined up correctly.
If you take it apart again, I highly recommend swapping that old c-nub with a 4mm tall trackpoint for a Lenovo Thinkpad. I tried a PSP stick, and while it was better than the original nub, it was honestly still quite bad. With the Thinkpad one I’m actually able to land my shots in Resident Evil Revelations, and I don’t run into any dead spots where the character struggles to turn in some directions. It feels like it was meant to be there the whole time.
