They should. I don’t see any real pent up demand anyway so it will be a very tough job to transition people across. Especially with gta6 coming late.

And that’s before we get to the horrible ram crisis. If Sony go early at a high price point it would be a terrible error on their part.

Hold off – hope prices stabilise and have more stuff ready to show off the new hardware.

    2. is they push ps6 to late 2028 or 2029 they better announce it quick, because it could push me to get a ps5 pro now.

Seems like a good plan to me, I’ve yet to see anything even slightly push the PS5 hardware yet anyway 🤷🏼‍♂️

    4. Can’t read the article but has Sony said they’re making a PS6 and what the time frame was? “Pushing it back” sort of implies something was set up first.

    5. Tbh we’re going to see so much cross gen gaming for so long if it launches in 2027, it makes sense to launch a new console at the point where the pro version as would be in 2029 or 2030 and that becomes the standard.

Hopefully then we will see a real jump between generations once again.

    6. Let’s be honest we dont need a new console for another 2 or even 3 years.

Especially with the new patch coming what else can games offer?

Still waiting to see games utilise half the stuff Mr Cerny claimed the base PS5 was capable of.

I dont mind loading screens but we for sure still have them, only seems to be ps exclusives where its fast loading but still isnt instant

    7. Fine by me. For whatever reason, I am not itching for a new generation anytime soon in the same I was during the PS3 and PS4 lifecycle. Feels like the PS5 still has plenty of life left in it to deliver more excellent, generation defining games.

    8. Push it back even further. Covid messed up the ps5 pipeline a little bit let the games keep coming let us enjoy ps5 and ps5 pro for another 5 years minimum

I don’t want to even hear about a PS6 until 2030 at the very earliest.

There is zero reason for anyone to even be thinking about a PS6 right now.

    10. I hope they do. I have a PS5 Pro and feel like it still has many years left in it. Graphics can already be incredible if developers put the effort in and we have yet to see properly new games from Naughty Dog or Sony Santa Monica released, which are sure to push the envelope even further. We also know that Sony is planning to release this year a massive upgrade to PSSR, which should improve things further – yes, I’m aware base PS5 doesn’t benefit from this directly.

On top of that, the current prices for computer hardware makes it harder to release a new console due to a higher Bill of Materials, which in turn would make the final price for the console a lot higher than what consumers are ready to accept. Particularly when it seems the majority favour pushing back the release of new hardware at present. And personally, if Sony releases a PS6 next year, it might be the first instance in a very long time that I won’t be there at launch.

    11. I just can’t see it being next year anyway.

Xbox is done, everything is multiplatform, they have no more competition. PS5 is selling like hot cakes.

There’s literally zero reason to have it come out next year. All they’d be doing is splitting the devs and the user base again while eating costs just to manufacture the PS6 consoles.

Better they focus on PSSR 2.0 and beyond over the next 2 years than anything else.

    12. They should. PS5 got out of the gate very slow and still has lots of life. They just now stopped developing for PS4. Let the 5 and pro breathe. Rockstar isn’t bigger than Sony and they be able to sell ps5 and PS6 enhanced version to double dip a 10 year game.

Consoles are going away…. Everything will be streamed in a few years. It will be a monthly subscription, just like everything else.

    14. My only negative with this would be i would’ve been excited to see the New God of War/Horizon on PS6 to really utilise systems (not just graphics) and AI (CPU Intensive).

If PS6 gets delayed I could see potentially them being on PS5.

That being said, Sony would’ve likely forced them to be crossgen anyway.

Millions & Millions of PS4’s still active. Sony wants those players to move over to current gen. PS6 will come out 2028 – who actually believed we will get it beforethen lol

I don’t even think I’d consider buying a 200 euro ps6. Absolutely ludicrous to even consider releasing one in the next five years.

      I wish.

The Ps5 is barely 6 years old, strong to play all new releases at 60fps, and still most newer games are playable on the ps4, i see no reason for a Ps6 to come out.

    18. They should. It feels like devs have still barely scratched the surface of what the PS5 is capable of.

    19. BlueberryWorried6493 on

They should push it back until that PS6 handheld supports PS5 games natively instead with developer intervention. It will really complicated to communicate the customers that there is a handheld that supports only some PS5 games but PS6 games work without.

    20. As far as I’m concerned, the next console can’t come out until 2035. Maybe then I’ll want something better. But until then, my PS5 is perfectly adequate. I want good games, and if even 10-year-old games still look fantastic, why keep releasing new Consoles?

    21. I only really care if this somehow delays games that are meant to be PS6 launch games. Otherwise, I don’t care. PS5 is perfectly fine.
