Avowed is not a classic RPG game focused on NPC conversations and story. This is an action RPG where 90% of your time is spent in combat and exploration. So the feel of the combat will decide whether your game becomes a great experience or not.

The combat system is great but for me it felt pretty easy on Normal difficulty. Player statistics and skills increase a little too fast when someone like exploration. Very soon enemies become too weak, which isn’t a great experience in an ARPG. I started on Normal but after a few hours I decided to change the difficulty to High and soon after to Very High. This was a great decision. On higher difficulties the game forced me to use different skills that weren’t necessary on Normal. I also started using the parkour system to take advantage of the terrain. This made the whole combat much more dynamic and more fun.

Of course, combat on higher difficulties is more challenging but the game has one really nice feature – it never respawns defeated enemies. You can literally cast a powerful spell on an enemy camp and run away. When you return the fight will be easier because the game won’t respawn the enemies you already killed. I used this strategy when I played as a wizard. Of course you can also play Conan-style

I hope that someone on PS5 will like this game just like me. I spent more than 100 hours in it and had a lot of fun. It’s a great ARPG
