Around mid last year, I got really into playing with my old n3dsxl but it had been having a few tech issues (buttons weren't working, drift that couldn't be fixed without micro-soldering, charging port was damaged), so I figured I should try and call nintendo and ask them to fix it. Turns out they did take in n3dsxl repairs, and was then told that they would replace it for a new n2dsxl.
As soon as I got it, I modded it immediately and have been playing with it almost daily since. Even got my wife's 2ds modded and we've been enjoying Tomodatchi Life together, and we recently got a streetpass at an airport. It really has been such a lovely experience to play all these games I used to and wanted to play.
This has given me such an interesting perspective on things. I have my switch and I enjoy it a lot as well, but its been basically untouched since I got the n2dsxl. There's such a charm to this old device that I can't really find anywhere, the game design, the themes, the sounds, the feel on the hand, the portability, it's basically incomparable. I can't really put my finger on why, but I guess I don't really care all that much to figure out. It gives me such a sweet feeling.
Maybe I'm just remising too much, maybe it's the fact that it's basically offline and updates are basically not a thing, feeling like something is truly a representation of who I am. Nostalgia be damned, but I couldn't be happier to play on this thing. I don't even want to think how I'll feel when it eventually deteriorates. I'll figure it out when we get there.
Currently playing Kirby Robobot, Tomodachi, Pokemon Ultra Sun, finished Boxboy. Excited to play New Leaf for the first time!
