    1. It can’t be retro, retro is an imitation of a style from the past. It also can’t be vintage since it’s only 15 years old – things start to be vintage at 20 years. The DS only recently became vintage.

    2. Retro is generally defined as 15 to 30 years old which the original 3DS will be quite soon. Even the (new) 3DS is a decade old. So I would consider it retro.

    3. Is the 3DS old? Yeah, definitely. The tech is pretty much obsolete now and we have moved way past those specs. Think of it like a GTX 1050. It is old for sure, but nobody is calling it retro or vintage yet. It is just outdated hardware. You could maybe make a case for the OG DS entering vintage territory, but that is about it. People also tend to forget that 3DS covers a massive range of hardware, from the original launch model to the New XL, released anywhere between 2011 and 2019. At the end of the day, they are just old handhelds, not some vintage gold mine.

I saw a video yesterday where someone refered to the new 3ds xl as retro due to the 3ds being 13 years old (the video was from couple of years ago) and it scared me…i still wouldn‘t call it retro tho the DS and Wii on the other hand yes

    5. yes, considering that I have played some AAA PC games, the graphics, the vibes you get from 3DS and DS games kinda makes it feel retro when you are so used to playing PC games.

    6. Maybe it’s because I’m almost 30 but it still holds up as a modern experience in my eyes. Though you could call it “retro” I just bought one for my nephew today lol and it will be his first console of all time and to him I’m sure it seems as new and modern as it did to me. And especially since the DS line ended shortly after, it always feels like the most premium unmatched way to play any dual screen games even today.
