Inspired by a similar post in the r/3DS subreddit. We all love to talk about the popular Switch games like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Brothers Odyssey, the Octopath series, the various Pokemon and Kirby entries, and so on. But there are just as many Switch games that don't get as much attention as those. So, I'd like you all to share your favorite Switch games that you feel are underrated or don't get enough love or coverage!

One game I especially like is this cute little open world slice-of-life game called Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid. You play as a 10-year-old boy who spends his summer in Japan's countryside, where you can do stuff like explore, catch bugs, hang out with the townsfolk, and raise money for the town circus. It's a fun, wholesome time that's very slept on. Sadly, it's digital only and no English physical version exists.

    1. It originated on Xbox live indie games but Hidden in Plain Sight is an excellent party game. You try and blend in with NPCs in various modes

    2. Not necessarily Switch exclusive but some that I thought were perfect to play on the Switch:

      Steamworld Dig 2

      Croc: Legend of the Gobbos

      Tomba!

Plants Vs Zombies: Battle for Neighbourville

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (that one is exclusive)

      Tunic

    3. Some of my favorites. They have a following but still seem pretty niche:

      13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim

      Astral Chain

      Blasphemous

      Prince of Persia: Lost Crown

      Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin

      Yoku’s Island Express

    4. I don’t think they’re Switch only but I’ve only played them on the Switch. The Trine series and Nine Parchments 💖

    5. Snake Pass

      Mr. Shifty

      Katana Zero

      The Messenger

I’m one of probably 25 people holding out hope for Snake Pass 2

    6. Phoenotopia was awesome, I loved it so much but was sad to find out it didn’t get enough attention to get a sequel which it really needs.

    7. [Animal Well](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/animal-well-switch/): Its a cross between Tunic and Super Metroid. One of my all time favorite games, and it was made by one guy with hundreds of cool ideas. There are so many AHA! moments.

[Marble it Up!](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/marble-it-up-ultra-switch/): It’s like Super Monkey Ball, but you have way more control. It’s made by the same developers who made Marble Blast Gold and Ultra back in the early 2000s.

[Bayonetta](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/bayonetta-switch/): Somehow, this is the worst-selling series that has a Smash character. One of the most physically demanding games I’ve ever played that requires impeccable reaction times and quick mashing, but man… once you figure out the rhythm, it’s so good.

    8. Love these discussions because if you ever search for underrated games, it’s always pure slop. I saw a 3DS list that included OOT3D, Majora’s Mask 3D, Kid Icarus and Resident Evil Revelations. Yknow, games that are easily in the top 10 games on the system.

For me, though, I’d have to say Theatrhythm Final Bar Line. Probably the most I’ve ever loved a rhythm game. Ruined King and Party Hard are two others I love that I barely see mentioned.

    9. Bayonetta Origins is an absolute treat if you can get past the weird control scheme of moving 2 characters with 1 controller. It’s just a shame that it’s a full-price title, I guarantee more people would’ve checked it out otherwise.

    10. Boggle-Champion-175 on

For more experimental or narrative choice / visual novel games:

      Kentucky Route Zero

      Suzerain

      Citizen Sleeper

    11. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon – Genuinely one of the best games in the series, and it has some of the best graphics on the system. It’s just a gorgeous, fun action-exploration game with some light Metroidvania elements and it actually has a story that’s easy to follow.

Heaven’s Vault: It is a slow burn, but the way the game’s narrative moves forward and molds itself around your narrative decisions and the lost language you slowly decipher is unlike anything else in the medium. This one is niche, but I think it’s a great story and the Moorish seapunk aesthetic never falters.

SIGNALIS: My favorite Resident Evil game is not a Resident Evil game at all. SIGNALIS is such a smart blend of early RE inventory management and level and puzzle design in a 2.5D overhead style and a story that is surprisingly deep.

I just bought it, but I’m really loving Guns of Fury.

Metroidvania/shoot em’ up inspired by Metal Slug. Super fun.

    13. I would *LOVE* Natsu-Mon, if it got a Switch 2 upgrade. I think it looks and runs a little too rough on the original Switch, but clean visuals & performance would sell me on it 1000%
