This Bezos “people will rent PCs” thing is bait. The quote being recycled is from a 2024 interview and it’s being pulled out of context. He was talking about companies moving their computing away from running everything on their own hardware, not “people won’t own PCs.”

PC gaming is the long-term future because it’s the most open platform: one library across desktop/handheld/living-room setups, mods and community fixes, hardware choice, and real control over how and where you play.

Strauss is right and open platforms are the future

and Valve and Steam are the pioneers here

    1. You’re expecting Redditors to actually do their research and not just repeat out of context quotes ad nauseam for easy upvotes. Some people are perfectly okay with spreading misinformation if it’s about things they don’t like (See: Ubisoft’s “Get used to not owning games” quote)

It just seems so much simpler for them to harvest my data if they centralized gaming though
