So my original Nintendo 3DS stopped charging with the regular cable a few weeks ago. I looked online and saw that using a charging dock could sometimes work as a workaround, so I bought one. Unfortunately, it doesn’t charge my 3DS either.
At this point, I’m thinking something inside might be fried, possibly on the motherboard or charging port. I would normally try opening it up to check, but one of the screws on the back is completely stripped, so I can’t get inside.
My last idea is to buy an external battery charger that charges the battery directly outside of the system. Has anyone tried this before? Is it a good option, or am I just wasting money at this point?

Why not usb c mod?
Should have read that you have a stripped screw lol
try the rubber band trick on the screw
I would say that your issue is either that your battery or your charger port is toast, unfortunately… I’m not sure what to do about the stripped screw, as a dumb kid I broke my back casing off and lost both screws to it in the process, so- But, as many posts I see coming up about people with stripped screw issues, at least one if them hopefully has a kind-hearted and helpful person that knows what to do about them… Best of luck to you, I really hope you’re able to find a fix for your issue, and I really hope it’s not anything too major
