I don’t use the console that often, maybe twice a month. And again, this is one year in, about twenty days off being to the date.
My story with this console is kinda wild, so I’ll dump it here:
I bought it preowned in 2020. The plastic on the back of the right hinge was broken off. It worked fine until late 2023 when the entire right hinge housing broke off. Not wanting to tear the ribbon cable while playing Face Raiders, I took the console in for repair, and it took ages, just for the top screen to not work. Eventually I resorted to buying another good-condition red 3DS XL and paying the repairer to swap over the internals. Got it back Feb 2025.
AND NOW THE NEW 3DS XL HAS A CRACKED RIGHT HINGE!!!!!!
I can see why people say this console is about as durable as toilet paper. I’ve resorted to pressing my finger against the back of the hinge whenever I open or close the console, but is there a better fix I don’t know about? Or will I inevitably have to spend $280 again?
