Hi Everyone, I recently got a 3DS from my sister's husband for free since his step brother no longer used it. I love the console and I was wondering to myself if itll be worth spending the money or trading it for a NEW 3DS XL or any of the other models.

My modded Switch oled has 500gb sd card and tons of games, but im unsure if itll be a smart decision to sell it

    1. i mean, I’d say yes but you do already have the original 3ds, which will get the job done if you wanna play pokemon games, ace attourney, mario, zelda.
So unless you are super committed to playing every old game and maximally using a modded 3ds, id say keep the oled.

I would say no, since a lot of people I’ve talked to instantly regret selling their electronics, myself included.

I would not sell the switch. A modded switch OLED isn’t nearly as easy to get as a 3DS and having both systems will give you far more options for games rather than upgrading your 3DS and losing the switch.

    4. Don’t, having both a 3ds and switch is somewhat essential for the games library.
Trading the o3ds+money for n3ds/xl might be the smartest decision.
(I also have modded switch and a 3ds, each have it feeling, mood, and purpose. at least for me)

    5. Honestly, no, and why should it be? Unless you really need to play xenoblade chronicles 3d, fire emblem warriors or you really need the improved 3d effect, you already have 99% of the 3ds library at your disposayel. It also looks like you have a modded switch oled which gives you access to many great games, so why do you feel the need to sell it?

    6. In 10-15 years you will see the same level of hype come back to the original switch in the same way we’ve seen the 3DS.

    7. If you plan of using the 3D function, I would sell it and use that money to buy a New 3DS. Just know, those are expensive right now. If 3D isn’t yohr cup of tea, just save your money and enjoy the 3DS. It should be able to play 99% of the games.

      Never sell your hardware.

I’d say no, but oled probably wont sell well anyway because its unmoddable. Keep it! No need to sell it if you still like it 🙂

    9. I suggest that you don’t sell the Switch Oled.
I especially don’t recommend selling it to buy a New 3DS XL right now.

My reasoning: You’ve amassed a big collection of games for your Switch. It looks loved and well cared for. You’ve got that 3DS for free. At the moment, you’re in a sweet spot to be able to enjoy the best games from both systems. If you sell the Switch to get a second 3DS system, you’ll lose more than you’ll gain. Plus, all too many times I’ve seen people trade-in or sell their systems, only to regret it later down the line. Then they end up buying it again, paying twice the price they originally bought it for. If you didn’t like your Switch at all, it would be a different matter and I’d say go for it.

If you really want one of the newer 3DS models, I suggest saving up the money another way and maybe combine that with trading/selling the original 3DS. Do you have any physical switch games that you don’t care to have in your collection? If so, try selling some of those.
Also, what do you think of the Ayn Thor? It has the 3DS form factor and can play switch games too, so maybe it’d be up your alley?

    10. Nah. I just bought a Switch 2 and expanded my 3DS collection – still don’t plan on selling the Switch OLED. Unoptimized Switch games look way better on it than the Switch 2, and I like having a smaller console for portability when I wanna play Switch games. Of course, 3DS is still king for portability.
