Double sided coin for me. I love playing Playstation games on my Ally X. Some of my favourites include Ghost, God Of War & TLOU. On the other side, I'd prefer more exclusives to remain exclusive to PS5. Just like Nintendo with their games. What are your thoughts? Would you prefer more exclusives to remain locked to the PS5, such as Saros, Phantom Blade Zero & Wolverine? Or would you rather see multi-platform releases be the norm?

    1. Sucks for those who prefer playing on other platforms, but I already have a PS5, so it’s not something I really sit around and think about.

    2. I think having exclusives is still the better road to take specialy it creates the pressure of their games having to be system sellers.

    3. Understandable. They are lot going to say they will eventually release it elsewhere, so people buy more consoles.

Also, MS is heading in a new direction, so this can also be seen as reactionary to their press release earlier.

Hasn’t the point in buying a console always been the unique games, features and hardware differences that aren’t offered on other platforms

    5. If PlayStation has no exclusives, what’s the point of owning PS5 over other platforms?

Xbox is a living example of what could happen if you’re not careful and look for a short term profit.

Pc players think that they are paying a lot of money. Most of them don’t buy any games without at least a 50% discount. Sony is making so much money from subscription + game sales that they should prioritize their console environment more. These tailor made exclusives make playstation look attractive for people. Which means more game sales and more subscribers to ps+

I’m for it. Reason I abandoned Xbox. No point in owning a console if all your games are going to a competitor.

    8. The 1 year timed exclusivity PlayStation was doing before porting to the PC was perfect. Gives reason to own a PS5 console but also eventually opens games up to a more powerful PC platform with modding capabilities.

I want PlayStation games to be exclusive to PlayStation.
I want Xbox games to be exclusive to Xbox.
      That’s my opinion.

Cross platform games kills the need for a specific console

I’m happy if Wolverine is locked to PS5

As a console gamer, nothing changes for me, lol. I do play PC games with friends but most of the time I play single player games on PS5.

Good, they should. Owning a PlayStation should result in exclusive content. Xbox fumbled hard with their idea.

    13. Good move for PlayStation for sure. Now that Xbox is dead in the water, they can pretty much make people have to buy a PS5 to play these games, getting them into the ecosystem which will result in them buying more games. Releasing on PC just means it’s going to be pirated by 80% of the players so there’s really no point.

    14. Finally , what I been stating for months now . Exclusive games sell hardware and bring purpose to a console .

    15. Don’t really care but financial speaking this is dumb idea.

Pandering to PS fans on social media isn’t profitable anymore.

I’m not sure why they’d leave money on the table like that.

Exclusives are anti-consumer and the PC players who want a PS likely already have one this late into the gen. The handful of exclusives won’t be enough to convert the others, they’d rather spend the money on upgrades to their rigs rather than “downgrade” in their minds to another machine for a few select games.

I could see how it might make sense to do this in a few years when the PS6 launches but it seems like it’d hurt their bottom line to do it now.

    17. Some would like to point at Xbox as an example of what happens when you lose your exclusive. But IMO it’s the exact opposite. Xbox was already struggling, and opening their exclusives came after having exclusives wasn’t doing anything for them.

Everybody is a fan of exclusives when it’s their platform that has those they want. When the other platform has something they want though, suddenly opinions change.

I think exclusive games are important for every platform. In a competitive economy exclusive games are that what differentiates you from the competition.

And on top, exclusive games can be better optimised for the corresponding console

    19. It’s the reason I bought a PS5, hence having exclusive games on the console creates sales. Along with that I buy everything else on PS. More revenue. Some of you people on reddit act like you know more about business than Sony itself lol. It’s fucking hilarious 😂

I’ll be very honest and say that, for the first time in many years, I was thinking about not buying the next PlayStation (the PS6, in this case). Prices (at least in Brazil) are higher on PSN than on Steam. Physical media is unfortunately becoming obsolete. So I didn’t really see any advantage in buying a console anymore.

If they decide to keep exclusives on the console, they basically force me to buy it. I think exclusivity is something bad for us gamers. I believe we should be able to play games wherever we want. But the strategy makes sense. If you want to play a Nintendo or PlayStation game, you’re going to have to buy the console.

    21. This is very good. Majority of PC players here in my country brag about their high end setup but their games are not ‘obtained from offcial stores’. This is the reason, I think, the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop are not available in the Philippines.

    22. I think consoles should have console exclusivity and everyone should go to pc. Then let the market decide if they play their game on their console or on a pc
