Bloomberg: Bluepoint pitched Bloodborne remake in early 2025. "the studio was told that the numbers made sense but FromSoftware didn’t want it to happen"
Previous quotes seem to suggest Fromsoft wants to do the remake themselves, and doesn’t want anyone else to touch it, but they just don’t have the time right now.
Sony appears to be honoring that wish, at least for the time being, despite owning the IP rights and don’t have to.
From a cultural standpoint, that’s the way the Japanese operate. I can’t fault them for it. But that also sounds like it should have been conveyed to Bluepoint sooner, so they didn’t get their hopes up, chasing something that wouldn’t happen. They should have put their efforts elsewhere.

A whole-ass remake would be completely pointless. All it needed was a basic remaster. Also Bluepoint would’ve worsened the art direction anyway like Demon’s

Doubt it.

I’ve said this a few times, as I recall the director of the game saying they want to be the only ones who remaster the game and nobody else.
But, whenever I bring it up I get downvoted a lot by those who think Sony is just sat there staring at the game but denying remastering it because it makes them all giddy

Even if true, good.

I’ll be honest. I don’t really understand the remake desires anyway. You could port the game to PS5 with improved resolution and ability to utilize the 120hz mode and it would be fine. Of course they could also just bring an unhindered version to PC.
Wholecloth remaking 11 year old games is actually insane behavior.

Literally just ports it with 60 fps and better resolution and ill pay $70. Bring it to pc a year later and you’ll be raking in millions for easy work, I dont get the reluctance to do anything with bloodborne

Meh.
I read the article.
It’s a bit disingenuous.
