…except that Nintendo dosen’t really develop the games? They seem to only publish it…

The year is 2026 and people still don’t understand that Nintendo doesn’t control Pokemon

Why no mention of Winds and Waves not coming out until next year?

Alternate ending: people finally understand that Nintendo DOES NOT make Pokémon games and they only have the exclusive right to publish it on their consoles. Nintendo cease to be the one targeted for TPC errors and we can finally move on

1: Nintendo doesn’t develop Pokemon.
2: The people who do develop Pokemon are very clearly learning from their mistakes.

Wrong take*. Also a Pokemon fan btw, don’t have a problem with the consistently awesome Pokemon games.

Well for one thing, Nintendo doesn’t make Pokemon games, Game Freak does. Nintendo is the publisher and 1/3 owner.
And here’s a hotter take. Just because people haven’t been happy with the supposed level of quality with the last few games in the series, that doesn’t mean the developers – you know, the actual PEOPLE who make the games, not the faceless corporations you imagine them as – aren’t just as passionate as ever about working on the games.
The artists, programmers, the people who actually do the majority of the work on these games, they don’t even have much control over the total product, much less big-picture decisions about the direction the series is headed in. I just wish people would remember that.
It’s fine to criticize things, but don’t forget who to actually direct your ire toward, because the developers are innocent bystanders in most of this, and they are the ones that work the hardest to deliver the best product they can, within the limits they are given.

Nintendo does not develop the games. the fact this is not more widely known infuriates me.

Scarlet and Violet were rushed but the Switch 2 versions made them very playable. And Z-A is just straight up a good game. Perhaps not $70 good, but still very good.

YES. YES. YES. SPIT, SPIT, SPIT.
Don’t even get me started on their pivot to live service mobile nonsense.
It’s more because Pokemon is a multimedia mega franchise that uses the games to start each new iteration but Gameboy and DS software development was much simpler and cheaper than Switch game development, so quality concessions have to be made to meet deadlines and not stall the anime/merch/trading card game.
