Do you see your Steam account age as meaningful — like a timestamp for when you started PC gaming — or is it just a badge you disregard?

I made my main Steam account in 2022 after switching over from Xbox, so for me it kind of marks the start of my PC era.

    Interested to hear different perspectives.

    1. I don’t know in general, but it helped me personally, since my Steam account has been around for almost two decades it helped me prove immediately that I was over 18.

    2. It’s really neat to look back on when you started gaming on PC. It might be silly, but it’s quite sentimental, in a strange way.

Mines 19 years old because I wanted to play half life 2 in 2007 on my shitty laptop at the time. Didn’t buy a gaming pc until 2018 though so HL2 was my only purchase from 2007—2018 lol.

    4. I don’t really care. But it gives me an idea in what age range the player might be.

    5. Doesn’t matter, no

Can’t really be a time stamp when I started PC gaming because steam only exist since 2003, I got into PC gaming with Starcraft 1 in 1998 but played casually before that, iirc settlers 1 + 2 were games I really liked as a kid on my moms win95 PC when I wasn’t playing smash bros or starfox64 or crash bandicoot

It’s just a badge nobody cares about

I started that long before Steam existed…

No,it doesn’t matter. More older the account, more you realise you wasted lot of money on games which you never played.

    8. Coming across someone that is ancient on Steam gives me more consideration that they are older and probably more passive as getting older slows people down a bit. I went from pretty fast action games to turn based since my aim has declined due to vision issues.

Not really much else matters I think.

    9. my account is old enough to vote and buy liquor but i still need to confirm my age

    10. Personally i love showing patient to steam with this thing.
Amazing devs. Support. Community. All staff at valve doing their job better above any company and asking 0 for it.

it is good for showcases because the more 10 x 2s you got the more showcases ya can put

No, because my account will be 22 this week and Steam still asks for my birthdate when viewing games on the store.
